    Origin

Elrond is the Half-elven son of Earendil and Elwing. He is one of the rulers from olden times that still remained in the Third Age of Middle-earth.

    Creation

Elrond is created by J.R.R. Tolkien and first appeared in The Hobbit.

    History

    First Age

Elrond was born in Beleriand as a refuge of the Haven of Sirion. Elrond and Elros, Elrond's twin brother, were captured alive. Their parents believed they would be killed, but they were by the brothers Maedhros and Maglor. Eventually the twin brothers were released by Maglor.

    Second Age

Elros chose the Fate of Men and became the first king of Numenor. Elrond decided to stay amongst the Elves. He married Lady Celebrian of Rivendell and she bore him three children: Elladan, Elrohir, and Arwen Undomiel. Due to his marriage to Lady Celebrian his father-in-law is Lord Celebron and his mother-in-law is Lady Galadriel.

When Celebrian was destroyed at the end of the First Age, Elrond went to Lindon with the house of Gil-galad. He chose to be counted among the Elves, like his parents.

Elrond during the Second Age was sent to Eregion by Gil-galad. After the destruction of Eregion he escaped to Eriador, where he founded Rivenedell. During this time he was entrusted one of the three elvish rings by Gil-galad.

When the Second Age was coming to an end, Elrond joined the army of the Last Alliance of Men and Elves.

    Powers and Abilities

Elrond was a excellent warrior, both with a sword and bow and arrows. His enhanced physicality also adds to his effectiveness as a melee fighter; we can assume that Elrond is among the strongest of the elves since he also has ancestors among the Maia (angelic beings). Elrond carries an elven-forged mystic blade, which allows him to vanquish shades and malevolent spirits, such as the intangible forms of the Nazgul (as seen in The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies). He was fought and was leader of the elves in The Last Alliance. He's also very wise due the fact that he's so old and because of his gift of foresight. This allowed him to view lands and events far from Rivendell.

He was a skilled mystic and healer, and it can be assumyed that his medical knowledge is enhanced by his magical ability. Another great feat is that he's nearly incorruptible.
