Elektra and many other heroes including Northstar were killed, resurrected and brainwashed by The Hand and then used by HYDRA in an attack on SHIELD, but this however was eventually repelled.

She was hired by Nick Fury, who paid her in excess of $200,000 a day, with the mission to stop HYDRA and Wolverine and eventually she worked with Wolverine to repel the attack by HYDRA by stopping Gorgon. She then left SHIELD to unknown whereabouts but they deemed her not to be a threat...so far.

The Hand

Elektra Natchios is Daredevil's most fearsome enemy. The fact that she was also his lover made for some great issues during Frank Miller's time writing Daredevil.
