After the ending of the first Doom Patrol volume, the series was relaunched by writer Paul Kupperberg with artist Steve Lightle. Both Paul Kupperberg  and Steve Lightle left before issue nineteen and the series was taken over by Grant Morrison and Richard Case in an acclaimed run.
