    Origin

When he was a baby, El Superbeasto ate his birth family out of house and home by eating up all of their meat and guzzling down all of their beer. Because his family couldn’t afford to keep him, he was put in a basket and was subsequently abandoned by his mother on the front step of a family of luchadores. He was enthralled by the violent lifestyles of his family members, and began learning their murderous ways, building himself into an even more dangerous killing machine.

Beasto’s childhood was as violent as his family had hoped it would be. All throughout his time at school, Beasto would get into fights with the other kids, and climbed his way up the popularity ladder through a mix of fear and unlimited charisma. Eventually, it came to be that whenever he went to a new school, he would simply leap right to the top of the pecking order, overshadowing anyone who was already established as the power couple on campus. So great was his influence that he no longer fought with other kids. Instead, he went right to beating up their dads. Often with their kids watching.

As it happened, one of the dads that he beat up during his senior year of high school was a professional wrestling promoter, who saw in the young man much untapped potential and convinced him to become a pro wrestler. For ten years, El Superbeasto reigned as the almighty, undisputed superheavyweight champion. According to him, he retired because he grew bored with winning, and wanted to give those less privileged than him a shot at the big time. Unofficially, it may have had something to do with him betting on his own matches, bribing referees and an uncontrollable drinking problem. Those charges against him were dismissed, but doubt remains about the veracity of the dismissal.

In the years since his retirement, Beasto had been living a life of hedonistic debauchery, and regularly indulged in bizarre vices. With help from his adoptive sister, he crawled his way from rock bottom and put his life back on the correct path. On occasion, he will answer a call to help quell a danger to Monsterland, but only if he knows he’ll end up with a new woman as a result.

    Creation

El Superbeasto is an amalgam of several different pieces of musical and horror movie culture all rolled into one. The first is how he attained his name. In the 1970’s, there was a horror movie called ‘Superbeast,’ which would later become the inspiration for a song by El Superbeasto’s creator, Rob Zombie. Zombie simply chose the name ‘El Superbeasto’ because he thought it sounded cool.

As for his nature as a character, it was inspired by a series of movies that Zombie is a fan of. Specifically, the ‘Santo vs.’ series of films, which feature a masked luchador who moonlights as a superhero to fight against various supernatural threats. This concept was taken even farther and placed the character in a world inhabited mainly by monsters, madmen and murderers.

    Character Evolution

    Personality

He is full of himself and he likes it that way. The man’s ego knows no bounds, and he sees it fit to compare himself to some of the greatest people in history if it works toward his benefit. Which even if it doesn’t, his bloated sense of self will spin it in his favor, if only in his own mind. To him, nobody else is as smart, as funny, as rich, as strong, and especially as charismatic and handsome as he is. In order for anyone to even be around him, they must humor his ego and act as if they need him to explain a joke to them, or let him take care of an insurmountable obstacle that nobody (not even someone as strong and skilled as he is) could possibly overcome. The man is so full of himself that he often tries to dismiss minor transgressions by handing out autographed headshots.

However, it is his ego that I also his greatest asset. If he believes that saving the day will help his image, he will dive into anything gung-ho and make the biggest spectacle of himself that he can. And he will especially be excited if he knows that he can get some kind of movie or book deal from the adventure, or any kind of media coverage. But then again, he will often go into action for nothing if he knows his sister is in trouble.

    Appearance

If he ever boasted about being a tall, muscular, hunky specimen of peak male physicality, he wouldn’t be lying. El Superbeasto’s days as a professional wrestler who murdered more opponents in single combat than Genghis Kahn have made him into a man with a physique most superheroes would envy. And those muscles aren’t just for show.

Typically, Beasto is seen wearing a green jacket with a blue undershirt, and black pants. On occasion, such as during missions for his sister or during a wrestling match, he will don a different outfit to align with the occasion. But no matter what he wears, he is always wearing his signature blue luchador mask.

    Major Story Arcs

    Dr. Satan

One night while he is hanging out at his favorite bar, The Haunted Palace, El Superbeasto meets the most fascinating woman he has ever met while he is in the middle of carousing with a group of other ladies. Her name is Velvet von Black, and she sets her sights on Beasto while she is in the middle of one of her performances. Unbeknownst to anyone present, there is another who is watching the entire spectacle remotely. The evil Dr. Satan has noticed the special qualities of Velvet, and he wishes to make her his hellish bride.

    King Kracko

When things have gone sideways for Suzi-X on her latest mission, there is only one man who the chief of the Amazing Super Spies can think to call. The brother of his best agent, El Superbeasto. Unfortunately for everyone involved, Beasto would much rather be exactly where he is: up to his hulking, muscular chest in beautiful women while eating a bucket of fried chicken with a banana split on the side. And even though he would like to stay there, the news that his sister is in distress spurs him into action.

Getting to Suzi won’t be easy. Temptations and distractions galore away Beasto as he is on his way to help his sister to save the world.

    Martian Invaders

While he is in the middle of entertaining a pair of new ladyfriends whose names he will probably forget after they leave his house, Beasto is ambushed by a robot and his evil commander. When Beasto comes to hours later, he finds that the twins who he had brought home are gone. Assuming that he had gotten blackout drunk and had a wild night of freaky, depraved fun with his guests, Beasto simply goes about his business nursing a massive headache that he sustained from last night’s attack.

Any illusion that Beasto had about the previous night’s fun is shattered when he sees the twins on the news with the commander of an invading Martian military force. At first, Beasto decides that he would rather leave handling the alien invasion to someone who is more qualified than he is. Then he gets the call from his teammates, telling him to get into gear because the Earth needs him to save it.

The Earth has already been half-conquered by the time that he and his team can get anything done. But that has never stopped him before. The same as always, a plan is concocted by the seat of his pants, and one can only hope that things go well for our intrepid hero.

    Skills & Abilities

    Impressive Strength

While it may be a little bit below superhuman levels, Beasto’s physical strength is unmatched by most normal residents of Monsterland.

    Wrestling

In addition to his prodigious strength, Beasto’s combat skills as a wrestler second to none. The real extent of just how skilled he is may be up for debate, as it is known that he was accused of fixing his own matches on more than one occasion.

    Unlimited Charisma

Wherever Beasto goes, he gets his way. Where normal people would pay the consequences for their misbehavior, Beasto charms his way out of it. And when other people have no idea who the heck he is, Beasto makes sure that they find out what kind of sway he has one way or another.

    Stunt Driving

Beasto is seen to be quite adept at riding a motorcycle, being able to attack enemies and dodge gunfire without ever stopping.

    Other Media

    Film

An animated film titled ‘The Haunted World of El Superbeasto’ was released in 2009. The plot and story of the movie follows closely with the Dr. Satan story arc, while adding new elements that weren’t in the original story, as well as expanding upon existing ones. In it, the character of El Superbeasto is voiced by comedian Tom Papa, and is portrayed very closely to how he is in the comics. Namely, as a crude, out of work professional wrestler who buries himself in every known form of licentious revelry, between taking on world-ending threats.
