    The Wes Craven of Comics

Echoes #4 by Joshua Hale Fialkov and Rahsan Ekedal.

The Good: I am not a huge horror fan. It just doesn't do it for me. That said, I love this series. It is what horror is supposed to be. This is truly some of the best storytelling I've seen. Fialkov does a perfect job writing such a dark and disturbing story that feels completely fresh and totally unexpected. Dialogue is intense and even the minor characters each have a role to fill. Brian can't seem to get a fix on what's reality and what isn't, and we are dragged along with him. We get to feel just how desperate and scared Brian just is. There is so much emotion from panel to panel, both through words and artwork. Simply, it's great.

Ekedal's art adds so much to the story. I know black and white may turn some people off, but there's no way this could be any more beautiful, and yet haunting, to look at. Since issue one I have been really loving the panel layout as well. It is pretty simple, but once in a while we get these amazing two page spreads. I would love to actually own pages two and three.

The Bad: Nothing. Except for the long wait for the finale.

    All in All...
This is something that anyone should be checking out. If you haven't been, wait for the trade. Trust me, you do not want to miss out on reading this. Since issue #1, I have not been disappointed and I just want to get my hands on issue #5 already. Definitely, definitely check this out!
