The Ebony Blade first appearance was in Black Knight Comics #1 (1955)

The Ebony Blade is a sword forged by Merlin from Starstone meteorite. Merlin enchanted the sword making it indestructible and able to cut through any substance, it can deflect or absorb magical attacks and is immune to most magical enchantments. The bearer of the Ebony Blade is immune to death as long as he/she holds the Blade. Merlin made the sword for the first Black Knight. However it corrupted him, and the seven Black Knights after him. It came down to that either Merlin, King Arthur, or Sir Percy would wield the blade. Since it would be to dangerous for Merlin or King Arthur, they gave it to Sir Percy. He killed many with the sword and caused the sword to be cursed. The Ebony blade is passed down from Black Knight to Black Knight.
