Eat-Man is a Japanese manga series that was created by Akihito Yoshitomi in 1996. It was serialized by MediaWorks, a Japanese publishing company, in their manga magazine Dengeki Comic Gaointo until 2002, resulting in a total of 19 volumes. Only about the first two of these volumes however were released in English by Viz.
The series follows the adventures of Bolt Crank, an explorer (a form of mercenary) who has the ability to eat virtually anything and then reform it from his body. Despite being willing to work for whoever can pay, Bolt still manages to abide by a set standard of morals and ethics.
Most of Bolt's adventures end up being a series of one-shots, but certain stories carry over to later ones, with certain characters and plot points reappearing.
The world of Eat-Man itself is a mixture of Cyberpunk sci-fi and fairy tale fantasy, with many of Bolt's adventures taking place in entirely separate times and even worlds.
