The end of an era and the start of a new age of heroes

The second wave’s biggest book is finally here! James Robinson brings us to the beginning of this alternate world where the changes are already shown since the beginning.

The issue starts with the invasion of the parademons leaded by a man known as Steppenwolf who is taking over the planet. Batman and the other two heroes of the trinity finally find a way to stop the invasion as they face the enemy in the remains of metropolis. Both superman and wonder woman face the enemy with their all as they share feelings of sadness as they have lost their homes and loved ones thanks to this monsters. In the meanwhile batman is on his way to the apokalipse tower to stop the enemy while having his daughter selina as robin in the batplane as back up. In supergirl is defending a platoon of soldiers transporting nukes as batman’s last resort plan and…soldiers talking about how good kara looks flying and how strong their bromances are, even if we don’t care about since we all know that either they will be killed pretty soon or they may not but never to be seen again.

As the fight continues, mercury the messenger of the gods informs Diana about the gods joining up with them but are quickly dying…Mars, Neptune among others have already fallen which sadness Diana even more (aren't diana’s gods from greek mythology and not from the roman?). Things go to hell as Steppenwolf backstabs wonder woman killing her and superman is caught by a group of parademons and plant an explosion on him which blows him out of existence. Batman knowing that inserting the virus he had to stop the towers from all over the world were going to blow up if he messes with them, he says goodbye to his daughter as he blows up the tower, killing all the parademons over the globe. Kara arrives to metropolis to a devastated as they find someone opening a boom tube, thinking is Steppenwolf they charge at it and enter DC’s main earth. Going straight towards their new title “world’s finest”. We move to the present as Alan Scott was the one narrating the events during the entire issue as he was doing it for a documentary to commemorate the day the trinity saved the world. In we see a young Jay Garrick getting dumped brutally by his girlfriend who is moving away...oh no, the epicness is going away! help! The issue ends with our hero seeing a meteor crash close to him as he was reflecting of his life and finds in the crater to be mercury warning him about a greater evil getting closer and they need a new hero.

    The Good:

The trinity showed up in their final stand against the invasion from apokalipse was epic. Having the three going all out was good to see and this been the introductory issue really shows a lot of emotional moments as DC’s trio's unfortunate demise….leaving for the new generation to take their place. This is a brand new world where robinson can play with it whoever he wants and is great. This issue was big and epic enough to be better than well….DC’s main title Justice League (it only took it 1 issue to beat 6 from JL). This is why I felt really disappointed that James Robinson wasn't given a title originally in the new 52 involving a justice league team, this guy knows how to write epic storylines and this is just enough evidence to prove it….(just pray we never get to see something like cry for justice from him).

    The Bad:

Nothing wrong with it really…..except this weren't the trinity we wanted to see!!! (yes, i wanted to see dick grayson, donna as the heroes they are destined to become... permanently). Also the stars of the book weren't in this issue enough. They were just there as young lads who seem nothing like the veteran heroes i grew to respect over the years.

    Overall: 5/5

This is a very epic issue, it has much more to offer than Justice League and worthy of the position of flagship tittle in the second wave. This issue proves people wrong about having alternative earth's this soon. Pick it up and you will not regret it at all. It's pretty awesome.

I don't know what I was expecting when I first heard of Earth 2. Actually, scratch that. I thought it would be basically the basic DCU with a few cast changes and a bit of creative liberty. What drew me in was where this creativity could go.And man, did it go places.Let;s compare it to the obvious: JLA. Now, I say this without an ounce of Hyperbole, this one issue delivered more than the first arc of Justice League of America. I am not joking. One thing it had was weight, a feeling that stakes we...

Wow.... I was probably one of the most nervous about this series. I trusted Robinson, and held to that amongst the overwhelming naysayers... but the concept seemed too eager to please too diverse a group. Dark and gritty mixed with JSA? BUT LO AND BEHOLD. It is great. This tells the same tale as the first arc of Justice League. Just 100% better.... which isn't saying a whole lot, but is DAMNED true. I FELT THINGS reading this. I choked up at a particularly emotional moment, and felt a stab in my ...
