With the start of a new monthly series I figured I'd give it a shot.  It was a pretty decent first issue.  The story revolves around Peter needing some money because Michele is painting the apartment and since she is a lawyer she basically connives her way into making Peter split the paint job.  Needing money he tries various ways and eventually has a run-in with a villain and his usual Parker luck.  Also the involvement of three High School girls will no doubt lead to trouble.   There is also a co-feature written by Stan Lee, which is pretty cute I guess.

    The Good
The art wook is actually pretty good in this issue, I prefer it over ASM, but there are some variations.  Also without a doubt Spider-Man's jokes at the expense of Jonah's Spider-Man hunting squad.  It made me chuckle.  Also the Co-Feature was vastly entertaining.

    The Bad
This book is entitled Peter Parker and I understand that Peter is Spider-Man, but for the limited amount of time he does appear, he appears mostly as Spider-Man.  I could read this in ASM if that's what it's going to be, he is literally Peter Parker on 3 pages.  With that being said, half of the pages in the main story are attributed to Jonah and these High School girls.  Maybe I'm taking the title too literally, I don't know.

    The Out of Order
On the intro page he tells that this is a story before the Gauntlet with Peter still working for the Front Line.  Since this is pre-Gauntlet it's pre-600, which is before I picked up the series, so I don't know.  I'm not a fan of comics jumping out of order.

Overall it was a decent read.  It's worth at least taking a look at, but the cliffhanger all but assures that you're going to want to see the next issue to see whats going on.  The co-feature was actually really entertaining, so I would probably buy this issue for that alone because it pushed the rating up to 3.5

      A Surprising Read. 0

Last Friday I was perusing my local comic shop and came across this book. I was surprised that a new Spider-Man title was released without me knowing (I usually have my finger on the pulse of new Spidey), but it was a great find. Pat Olliffe's art is always great. The way he draws Spidey is very distinct, but very classic too. It almost feels like an extension of a 1980s Ron Frenz, with Peter having thin facial features and a very lithe frame. The story itself is very entertaining, almost to the...
