Duran is a powerful sorceror and a member of the Oto tribe in central Mexico. Vowing vengence on imperial developers, Duran, and ecological terrorist, planned on unleashing a horde of mystical monsters across Mexico in protest against the rampant pollution its people generated.
Operating out of Zocolo, the Plaza of the Constitution in the heart of Mexico City, Duran kidnapped a young girl and focussed the powers of Ometeotl, the "dual divinity" throuh her. This magic spell sparked a literal firestorm of destruction that was only stopped by the combined might of Superman, Iman, Acrata and El Muerto.
The magic knowledge of Duran were learned from Firewolf, who had encounter Superman in the past. However Duran had not the moral restrictions and attittudes than Firewolf expressed.
