There has been two teams of Howling Commandos. The first was active in WWII, consisting of Nick Fury and others. The second one that was active recently consisted mostly of supernaturals and monsters.

Probably the second most-important member of S.H.I.E.L.D, Dum Dum Dugan has been Nick Fury's second-in-command and right hand man for decades. He worked with him in the Howling Commandos in World War II and later joined S.H.I.E.L.D.
