@They Killed Cap!: I'd have to agree with feebadger. The Complete Case Files are prob the best thing on terms of the shear amount of stuff in them, but the direct new release of them is quite pricey. They are usually about 25 bux when released and some of the ones with more important or rare stories are even higher. But i'd just like to add that starting back in January, I believe they started to reprint all the Complete Case Files again starting from the beginning. The first 5 have already been re-released and they are much cheaper now, bout 15 bux each now.
This looks pretty cool You peeps have to take it for what it is. cotton candy. and understand that not every movie is made to sweep the Oscars. It looks like it will be entertaining.
@They Killed Cap!: Judge Dredd: America is held up as one of the best Dredd stories, but it also is very different to normal Dredd. The best start would be Judge Dredd: The Complete Case Files 5 which contains the Mega Arcs of Block Mania and Apocolypse War, the events of the latter being the back drop of Day of Chaos which is running today. Also there is the first Dark Judges story in there.
I think the movie looks great, personally. You have to ask yourself what you're going to get out of a Judge Dredd movie ... and this appears to be the answer. A grimm movie atmosphere with somewhat cheesy characters. Judge Dredd at his core is a cheesy character. His lines. His voice. His attitude. He wasn't made to be some extremely deep and multidimensional character .. so remember that before you start criticizing his voice and lines in this movie. But honestly, I thought they fit well. I liked when Karl Urban was first cast and I like it even more after seeing this trailer. I'm also looking forward to Lena Heady as the villain Ma-Ma (especially after Game of Thrones) and while I was initially skeptical of Olivia Thirlby being cast as Cassandra (only because of her extremely youthful/innocent appearance), I think she looks good in the movie. Be interesting to see how they factor in her psi powers.
Anyway. Top movie I'm looking forward to this year now that Prometheus is gone (and a let down of sorts). This trailer did nothing but excite me more about the movie.
This looks great! I have to agree with Fantasgasmic. The Stallone one had the look of the comic, but this one is more real. The comic which debuted in the late 70's had it's idea of the future same as most at the time. But we're closer to that time than before, so moving the world into something closer to what our future may look like makes snes. plus we've done the sprawling, hi-rise cities before. "Fifth Element" was the last to do it well ("Avatar" did too briefly). Like the fucntional armor look too. This should be fun.
Awesome!!!
Explosions and gunshots. It seems to be just that. Now, I like action and the everything that comes with it but I also like a good and refreshing story. Dredd his a great character with whom so much can be done; lets hope they do it right.
Well, i feel like i just the saw the whole movie.. There are drugs called Slow-mo ( I bet Dredd himself takes a hit at one point and starts to kill fools Max Payne style), Dredd goes to a huge building, walks up killing everybody on the way ( prob. involving A LOT slow mo shots of shit flying everywhere) throws Cercei Lannister through a window to her death after saying some cheesy line. We get to see the falling from Cerceis perspective in SLOW MO. The End.
@Bull_iod said:Lol. This will get my 11$ when it comes out, not saying it'll be Dredd done right , but it's gotta be better than Stallone and Schneider.the fact that you said drokking gets you a followLooks drokking great!!
I like the city scape, it looks like the early days of mega city 1. and Karl Urban is beginning to grow on me as Judge Dredd. I hope this will be great topper for a summer of comic books awesomeness
That looks really bad. And I'm not trying to be negative, I'm usually optimistic with comic book movies, and I like Judge Dredd without knowing much about him, so I'm not getting caught up on details, but in terms of being an actual film; that looks bad.
I'm sure it'll be fun in 3D, but constant slow-motion, a plot ripped straight out of the abominable Robocop 2, and random lighting effects make this look like a movie for the stoned and stupid (like Ghost Rider 2).
