Back when Heggra ruled Apokolips, Apokolips and New Genesis were at peace. She had two sons: Drax and Uxas. Heggra favored Drax immensly since he was to rule after she died.
Drax and Izaya of New Genesis have always been friends, even though it was said that thier two planets would destroy eachother. They often went into arm wrestling competitions at taverns, and rode "steeds".
The Infinity Pit

The Infinity Pit was were many "Old Gods" tried to obtain the Omega Affect. None have ever prevailed. Drax had plans on trying to obtain them. Wearing a garb prepared by Desaad, Drax tried to obtain the Omega Affect, little knowing his own brother, Uxas, was plotting against him. Once Drax was in the Pit, Drax dove in after him making it look like he was going to "save" his brother, when he actually killed him. Uxas recieved the Omega Affect, and became Darkseid.
The Infinity Man

In one of the issues of "Tales of the New Gods" it was shown that Drax actually is the infinity Man.
