In order to pay Malus to cure his ailing wife, Antonio Rodriguez had no choice but to serve as a test subject for Malus, and he was turned into the Armadillo. Malus blackmailed Antonio to work for him afterwards, but in the end the doctor did keep his word and cured Antonio's wife.
After losing his powers, Erik Josten came to Malus in the hope that he could allow him to regain a semblance of his former abilities. Through the use of Pym Particles, Malus was able to give Josten super-strength and the ability to grow in size, and he became Goliath. Afterwards however, Josten refused to repay Malus by working for him, and the two parted on bad terms.

After saving McDowell from chemical weaponry of his own design at the behest of Spider-Woman, Malus secretly turned McDowell into the Hornet through his use of the Human Fly's blood. He then went on to use the mentally unstable McDowell to battle Spider-Woman, but she prevailed in the end.
