    Compared to X-Men no longer, Dr. Niles Caulder lifts his schemes behind the Doom Patrol less as a heroic force of cripples set to save the world than a group of malformations set to reshape the world itself. Poetic, disturbing, origin-shattering, and equipped with both a moral and desperate end. Surprise, surprise.

      A great issue for anyone curious about the Doom Patrol. Fairly tame compared to other examples of Grant Morrison's run on this book, I feel that it's perfect for anyone who's looking for a combination origin story/ introspective look at why the team is so callous. "They learn that the truly important qualities come from within and have no relation to physical beauty. Becoming freakish, they become human and humane. That's how it was with the Doom Patrol."Perhaps the greatest aspect of this issue...
