Donna Troy
Donna Troy is a comic book character that first appeared in The Brave and The Bold #60With the ability to remember every version of herself, Donna Troy is an important member of the DC Multiverse. She is a former Teen Titan, and has served as Wonder Woman in Diana's absence.
The history of Donna Troy is a unique one as she has lived through many lives, remembering each and every single one and the result was that the writers needed to find a way to intertwine each one, so that it could look like this was her actual history.
As Wonder Girl
Before Wonder Girl however, the creation of the Teen Titans was a team consisting of sidekicks. A year later, they returned in The Brave and the Bold #60 and then were officially dubbed as the Teen Titans. This was the first official appearance was the debut of Wonder Girl. During the Silver Age, there were hardly any sidekicks. Batman's sidekick Robin was on the team that also included the sidekick of Flash ( Kid Flash), the sidekick of Green Arrow (Speedy) and Tempest aka Aqualad who was the sidekick of Aquaman. Other main DC heroes had no sidekicks so they simply had to invent a new one. The result: Wonder Girl.
The introduction of Wonder Girl was a bit troubling at first, as she was featured on the cover but her name didn't get a mention in the issue, but soon enough, Donna Troy was mentioned. She continued appearing in the Teen Titans. Wonder Girl also had trouble with her origin as she didn't even have one. In Teen Titans #22, her origin finally revealed. Apparently, Donna Troy was saved from a burning fire by Wonder Woman, in which the fire killed her parents. She brought her to Paradise Island and there she learned the ways of the Amazons. As a human however, she did not have any powers or super human abilities that the Amazons had, so with the Purple Ray Gun, they used it on her. This gun was used to heal Amazons and was used to imbue Donna Troy with the powers of the Amazons. In issue #23, she had gotten herself a new costume. Her whole outfit was a bright fire truck red with a row of stars going diagonally, black boots and a yellow/gold belt with a "W" in the middle.
Through the 1960s, the line-up had changed many times, but Wonder Girl had been right through. With issue #43 the series was stopped. The team returned however with DC Super-Stars #1 which had gained enough popularity for the Teen Titans series back. The series continued not with #1 but #44, but was then abruptly canceled with #53. A few years later, the series came back once again with the New Teen Titans. The revival had the original team along with new characters. In the New Teen Titans, Donna Troy fell in love with Terry Long and were soon engaged. Before she got married though, she wanted to find her real parents. In the issue Who is Donna Troy? #38, Robin investigated Donna's past as a test of his detective skills. Robin discovered that Donna had been abandoned as a baby at an orphanage as her mother died of cancer. A couple, Carl and Fay Stacey adopted Donna. Carl had died during work, and Stacey feared that she would not make ends meet, meaning they would become bankrupt and put Donna up for adoption once again. The orphanage apparently made the children work, exploiting them. It was then which Wonder Woman accidentally found her amongst the flames and saved her.
New Teen Titans was then used for a trial as DC was experimenting on high quality paper and comics with better colors, selling them only in specialty comic book stores. Then, they would print them on cheaper paper a year later. The existing titles would have their same titles, except with a "Tales of" in the front of them. There was a one year delay in printing them, so it would mean that in a year's worth of that series, two comics would be released each month. So then New Teen Titans #40 would be released and following would be Tales of the New Teen Titans #41. The new stories included Robin turning into an adult and had become Nightwing. Finally in issue #50, Donna Troy eventually married Terry Long. That was a huge comic issue where it featured Hippolyta blessing the wedding. #58 would be the last issue, however with #59, DC would reprint the first issue in the first series and the now new more expensive New Teen Titans with #60. The reprint lasted only to issue #91. Wonder Woman had also relaunched its second volume in 1987. The series started with her travelling to Man's World. It was a start over for Wonder Woman, though that meant that any story happening before Wonder Woman wouldn't have existed - and that included Donna Troy's origin story, which comes to the "Who is Wonder Girl?" storyline.
"Who is Wonder Girl?"
This would be the beginning of a five part episode starting with #50 called "Who is Wonder Girl?" With this issue, the "teen" was dropped from Teen Titans, as they had grown up now. This issue begins with the Titans in their headquarters when they are attacked by aliens. A strange and old woman in a robe stops the aliens and talks to Donna Troy, telling her that her origin was all lies, however, she still remembers the fire, though her not rescuer. Rather than being inspired by Wonder Woman, she was inspired by an American flag. She meets up with Kid Flash, Robin, Speedy and Aqualad and form a team with them, even suggesting the name. The old woman then tells her that she is Phoebe, the Greek goddess of the moon, and the Greek gods need her help.
In part two, a Titan called Jericho saves Phoebe as she dies by entering her body and he tells her how Zeus killed his father Cronus and the Titans were banished. They travelled to the moon and created a new haven, called New Cronus which Donna now remembers living on. They wanted people to worship them and Rhea, Cronus' widow procreated with aliens nearby, producing demigods. The demigods hated each other and Rhea was distraught that they might die out, and was in search for new gods to replace the Titans - called the Seeds. Rhea searched for Donna Troy, and there, she became a new goddess and was to become a new Titan. Rhea dies from the search of the Seeds, but the new ones arrived and were named after Greek cities - thus "Troy". The new Titans are given powers and trained together, stripped of their memories. But Sparta remembers the truth and tells all and conquer the planet. Sparta then sends out the aliens that attacked the Titan Tower. They travel in "travelspheres", which are like white balls that can be held in a hand and the Seeds are killed and the Spartans now rule. the Titans send Phoebe out in three parts, to contact the last three Seeds. Only the third one makes it. Before Phoebe dies, she reveals that Donna Troy can control the travelspheres that attacked the Titan Tower and that they must rescue that last two seeds. The Titans then take the travelspheres to look for the two Seeds. At a planet, they see aliens attacking running in front of a figure but the attackers are quickly destroyed. The figure, who is a white furry creature wearing a protective suit and enters the travelsphere. In there, he meets Donna and remembers his past on New Cronus.
In the third part, the rescue the third Seed named Athyns, but it isn't so easy. The last Seed seemed evil. The alien attackers than destroy Athyns' planet and the Titans rescue him and Jericho possesses him. When they arrive back at New Cronus, and Athyns who is no longer possessed destroys the Spartan's battle ships but he destroys the travelsphere, apparently along with Nightwing, Cyborg, Starfire, Jericho and Raven on board.
In the fourth part all three Seeds have died and would probably mean the end of the Titans now. However, Raven arrives on New Cronus, along with Starfire and Jericho having a temporary hold over Athyns' evil side. The Titans and Xanthi send out a search party as Cyborg has been captured, but only one of the two Seeds can go. In Sparta, Cyborg is held captive and are ready to sacrifice him with Nightwing's and Raven's group attack. During the battle, Xanthi convinces Athyns that they had a past together and he becomes good again. Unfortunately, Xanthi dies during the battle. In the fifth and final part (#54), it seems as if Xanthi's death is the end of the Titans. But Nightwing proposes that Sparta can be the third Seed. Gar Logan and Raven attack Sparta and Raven swallows Sparta, meeting the two seeds inside. In New Titans #55, the Titans return to Earth. New Cronus and the Spartans are now allied, and on the way home, Athyns is dropped of Xanthi's world to give him a proper burial. When Donna reaches Earth, she meets her very missed husband. Donna Troy then reveals her gifts which New Cronus gave. The gift is a new costume made from a Titan couple and a new haircut to go with it. In this issue, she also reveals her new name: Troia.Time as Troia
Troia becomes pregnant with Terry and since Troia is a goddess, the child is an X-Factor and becomes a new god. Meanwhile, Monarch who is from the future would become an evil conqueror, who is also revealed to be the influence of corruption towards former Titan members such as Hawk. Monarch was aware of future and revealed that he would corrupt Donna's unborn child to have him on his side and Donna's son would then become Lord Chaos. So Monarch sent a team of future Titans to kill Donna's child before it becomes born. That future team of the Titans would stay in the present, calling themselves Team Titans. In 1992, there was a spin-off book with a new storyline named "Total Chaos" with the New Titans, Team Titans and another spin-off titled Deathstroke, the Terminator. During Team Titans #3 they solved the problem of Donna's child, where if Donna gave up her powers, her child would be normal. Donna then gave birth to her son, named Robert. Donna left the Titans and relocated with the Team Titans and Terry and she wanted to raise her son like a normal family. However, villains attacked and with that, in issue #21, she asked the Titan of Myths to return her powers but she was not allowed. She also was stranded in the past and Donna searched for her husband, only to find he went back to his ex-wife, Marcia. In 2001, a flashback issue was released called The Titans #25 where we see Terry divorcing from Donna.
With Darkstar
Donna took the offer to join the Darkstars and became a space police officer who was replacing the then-defunct Green Lantern Corps. The job got offered to her in Darkstars #22 and she accepted in #23. She also had a uniform makeover and also gained new powers. She became a team with them, but it hadn't lasted very long. Soon, Team Titans stopped their comics and most story lines centered around Zero Hour. The New Titans got a new lineup and Darkstar Donna Troy joined with Kyle Rayner after Hal Jordan had broken up the Green Lantern Corps. Donna Troy also made appearances in the Green Lantern and Kyle and Donna started dating in #61, which began a relationship. She continued appearing in three comics. The Darkstars, the Titans, Green Lantern. Soon, the DC comics sale were failing, and the Darkstars stopped at #38 and the New Titans with #130. Around that time, Kyle and Donna broke up in Green Lantern #70 and in Green Lantern #74-75, the Darkstars broke up and in #75, Donna left the Darkstars to live a normal life once again.
Reinvention of Donna
In 1995, John Byrne took over Wonder Woman and Donna Troy was no longer Troia, and she had no connections with Wonder Woman. But in 1998, when he was to finish his run, he changed all that. Bryne had Hippolyta to travel back to the past and join the 1940s Justice Society Of America and this mirrored the DC's pre-crisis and this meant that Donna Troy could be connected once again with the Wonder Woman family. Donna Troy had now been inspired by Hippolyta instead of the American flag. He also associated Donna Troy with Princess Diana (the most known Wonder Woman) with her. As Princess Diana was a child, she had no one to connect with as all her Amazons sisters were older than her. Magala, the Amazon witch created a new playmate for Diana, though it had to be kept secret since Hippolyta did not approve of this. An evil witch named Dark Angel who was an old enemy of Hippolyta from her time traveling journeys. however would steal Diana and instead, mistakenly kidnapped Donna Troy and tortured her by making her live many lives, each of them ending in tragedy. Dark Angel had hoped that torturing Diana would drive Hippolyta insane, seeing as they had a special connection. Instead, Donna Troy gained personality and stayed around for a long time. The reason why Donna Troy had so lived lives was to set the truth straight about her continuity and her conflicting origin stories. When she was saved by Rhea and taken to New Cronus was one of them. However, Dark Angel's curse of each lifetime ending in tragedy stuck with her as her husband Terry and her son Robert died.
Dark Angel then returned to put her through another tragic lifetime. However, Hippolyta, Diana and Flash ( Wally West) discovered that this happened and they still remembered Donna Troy as the lifetime she was living with them. All four of them defeated Dark Angel, but Donna died in the end. In a magical resurrection process, she returned to life using the memories of Flash. During her time as Wonder Girl, she became a sister of Wonder Woman but the Troia origin remained only slightly altered. In Wonder Woman #131-136. Dark Angel killed Donna Troy and the heroes came to intervene and this was when Donna Troy's new origin was revealed.
"Who's Troia?"
In 1996, a Teen Titans relaunch was done with a brand new #1 with a conjunction with the Justice League Of America. This issue also included all the original Teen Titans, but with different names. Donna Troy was still the same, except she had a brand new costume. It ended up being a black space-like suit with silver boots and constellations of stars all over it. There was Nightwing, Flash, who used to be Kid Flash, Arsenal who was formerly Speedy and Tempest, who used to be Aqualad. Members returning were Cyborg and Starfire. It was written by Devin Grayson but notably, the art done by Phil Jimenez as he was a Titan fan and was George Perez's predecessor. The team up joined together to fight against a technological threat revealed by Cyborg, who is now a former member of the Titans. In this issue, Donna Troy returned to Paradise Island and officially became an Amazon. After many past tragedies, her life was more of a positive one now. She was a respected founder of the Teen Titans and her writer Devin Grayson wanted to see her return to her happiness, as it was time for that. Donna also had a brief relationship with Arsenal, but Donna's history was still incomplete. This had created the "Who's Troia?" storyline in the Titans #23-25. Because Donna's memories were based only on Flash, it was hugely incomplete as she did not remember her past as an Amazon. Dark Angel had returned, still determined to wipe out Donna Troy's memories. The Titans, along with their children from a very far future had come to stop her. Dark Angel was defeated and she regained her memories.
With issue #50, the title was being cancelled to make room for another title called The Titans with Justice. In this issue, a new Wonder Girl was introduced, Wonder Girl in fact.
The Death of Donna Troy
To make room for the relaunch, they had to cancel this story and came out with Titans / Young Justice: Graduation Day. A huge company called Optitron had the JLA and the Titans come to San Francisco where Indigo, a cyborg assassin attacked them. While the team searched for Indigo, they encountered a rogue android Superman. Donna was fighting it, and it shot its heat vision into Donna's chest and she fell dead. Indigo stopped the android however. This death weakened the Titans and only the founding members of the Titans attended her funeral, and there they disbanded. It had an interesting epilogue however, where Donna wakens in her Troia outfit, where her costume had a hole where the android Superman hit, but she is unharmed. In the narrative, it says this:
"She is not gone. She has just left us. She has known many lives. She will now know another."She finds a sword and a shield and then the narrative goes once again:
"She hears the battle raging on in the distance. The sound of metal meeting metal. The perverse cries of combat. The Amazon in her stirs."The Titans would relaunch as Teen Titans. A second book was launched as a new incarnation of DC's Outsiders in which the team was led by Nightwing and also included Indigo and both teams were formed out of Donna's death and the disbandment of the Titans. This story in Teen Titans/Outsiders Secret Files 2003 had a backup story which included Donna's death. This story had the storyline "Who Was Donna Troy?" and was written and penciled by Phil Jimenez.
Return of Donna Troy
DC was preparing for the Countdown to Infinite Crisis and they started talking about Donna Troy. She was a very popular character even if she didn't have her own series, but no one missed her presence. The reason why she was killed off was to break up the Titans and to make way for a relaunch. However, to DC, she was important and they announced that she would make a return. Most readers didn't care much for Donna Troy, except Phil Jimenez, who worked on Wonder Woman and loved each character. George Pérez's involvement lifted the comics even higher and Pérez liked José Luis Garcia-Lopez's penciling. Many readers were skeptical of Donna Troy's return, as she had a very intricate history and it would have to take some time to make sense so that it would fit and the mini-series was also delayed. Once it was released, they criticized it for her character not being what they would have imagined it to be. However, the mini-series sold well.
DC Special: The Return of Donna Troy #1 was released in August 2005 as a collector's item and this issue was also to wear the new DC logo called the "DC spin" which was a metaphor for its new direction in the comics business. This issue was quite a confusing one, especially if the readers did not read the "Who is Wonder Girl?" storyline and not knowing the roles of the Titans and gods in Greek Mythology would also be confused. However, this issue can be seen as honouring Donna Troy's heritage and for those who understand the " Who is Donna Troy?" storyline might understand why she survives on New Cronus. The appearance of Athyns and the death of Sparta may add excitement to Donna Troy's regular readers. However, readers wonder why this mini-series was so important as it was advertised heavily, almost taking over the Infinite Crisis. The issue begins with outer space characters and the narration tells us that "a tiny planetoid on the far side of the universe was in and of itself the deadliest weapon of all." There is also a Tamaranean, which is Starfire's race with their orange skin and fiery, reddish hair. There were also other alien races and are heading to the planet below. Defense robots pop out and the main Tamaranean exclaims "the sins of Rann and Thanagar will not spread across this universe!" which means that they are willing to die in this cause. Overlooking the battle is their lord, which they are willing to die for. Then we see Donna Troy wearing her usual Troia outfit with black hair and also wears a blue shawl and a tiara and round earrings. She tells the readers that she was a goddess and it seems that she has joined the ranks of the Titan of the Myths. It now becomes clear that Donna was narrating all along and she remembers the other Titan team. A mixture of images go along with her narration retelling her history, at least giving an idea of it. Coeus brings Donna back to reality and she tells him that she is having these dreams of becoming mortal. Coeus tells her that these dreams are ridiculous, that she is the moon goddess. She narrates that Troia may love Coeus, but Donna does not. The Titans of Myths observe the planet below them, called Minosyss, and it is having earthquakes. Iapetus wonders why Themis isn't saving it, so Hyperion intervenes saying that this would endanger "what lies beneath the surface of Minosyss." Tethys asks why they don't stop the rebellion themselves and Oceanus interrupts her saying that "Coeus approaches -- with Troia." This is a big clue that they are hiding something, but not sure what exactly.
Hyperion explains that the city has fallen. Hyperion takes a quick glance at Troia, and Thia knows that his husband lusts for Troia. Troia then looks for a remedy to cure her from these dreams she has been having of green-skinned Crius and Mnemosyne, the latter which is a true memory of a goddess. Coeus then begs Mnemosyne to show Troia's true place in the universe. Then, from Coeus' request, a vision comes up which shows the Titans of Myth who were the children of Uranus and Gaea. Zeus who was a Titan killed Cronus and banished the rest of the Titans to a moon called New Cronus. The Titans were infertile and Rhea, who was the wife of Cronus gave her seeds to various planets with her divine essence in them and one of the offspring included Donna Troy. Troia does not believe it however but Hyperion tells her to embrace the goddess side of her. Hyperion tells her that the races throughout the universe will follow them.
Troia doesn't believe this and says that "a world is going to die". Donna then starts narrating about the two other Seeds are in the army of the Titan of the Myths and that Sparta is scanning the area for anything religious. Sparta speaks with Hyperion who urges him that the rebels should be slaughtered. Thia wonders who Troia can defend the rebels on the planet. Troia then narrates, saying how Hyperion was always arrogant and that "Thia was just a hateful bitch."
As Sparta is going down to the planet to get rid of the rebels, Troia urges the Titans to intervene and is surprised at Oceanus and Tethys agreement with the Titans' plan. The two gods are disgusted by Sparta's origins, but little do they know that Troia herself has similar alien origins. Troia then talks with Themis and Iapetus who explain that the Spartans aren't meant for to level with the Titans in terms of magnificence and she realizes that the Titans aren't worthy in any hierarchy. Troia then has a vision of Rhea saving her from the fire and how she learns about the universe from Minosyss. She is disgusted in how the Titans believe they are superior and she grabs a suit of armor and transports herself down to the planet. Coeus realizes this and is worried that she will discover her true identity, but Hyperion is not worried stating that she will succeed where Phoebe failed but Coeus is still worried that if Troia learns that the Titans have lied to her, she will won't react well to it. On the surface of the planet, Troia she sees all the dead bodies on the floor and rushes to Sparta's defense, but it is too late, and Sparta dies.
Troia urgently tells Athyns about the natives of that planet having a weapon which could destroy countless planets. Athyns does not believe her, asking why the natives haven't used this weapon yet. Troia replies that there is such weapon and it is killing the allies who look for this weapon. But in her narration, she doubts what she is saying. Troia then accuses Athyns of working for the Thanagarians. Athyns retaliates, stating that Mnemosyne is swaying her opinions and then there is an explosion. What caused this or who survives is not known, though we see the Titans of Myth travel in the travelspheres on the way to Earth and transports itself to Shift in the Outsiders' headquarters. Shift refuses the HQ to be destroyed again after Outsiders #23.
With the second issue, Shift attacks the travelsphere because of the recent events which happened during The Outsiders. Shift’s girlfriend recently died and Indigo who was Brainiac 8 and was a robot sent back in time to kill Donna Troy before being reprogrammed. Nightwing and Starfire defend the travelsphere. Donna narrates how can someone not fall in love with Nightwing while she respects Starfire very highly as a warrior. Shift is surprised at the appearance of Nightwing and Starfire. Starfire protects it from Shift and throws it to Nightwing. He tells everyone to calm down because the travelsphere reacts to emotion.
Arsenal, Jade and Arsenal’s daughter, Lian come to see what the commotion is about and Arsenal is about to shoot it with his arrow but he recognizes from the stories that her “aunt” told her – probably a reference to Donna Troy before her death. Lian then says “she’s coming back” which is a reference to Green Arrow who was resurrected recently. All of them watch, and the travelsphere opens and in there, floating, is Donna Troy. Starfire exclaims that “Donna Troy is alive!”
It then cuts to the Titans Tower where Wonder Girl is looking through photos of her and Superboy. Cassie and Conner have had a flirtatious relationship but some time during the Teen Titans, he quit when he was controlled by Lex Luthor. She also looks at a photo of Wonder Woman and Troia and grieves about how she misses Donna seeing as she has no one to talk to now, and that Diana had kept the secret of Zeus being her father a secret from her.
This is in the Wonder Woman series, where Wonder Woman kept the secret even though Cassie wanted to know very badly. However, Beast Boy comes in and tells Donna of an amazing thing that just happened. They both rush into the hall and find statues of dead Titan members, with Donna in the middle. There is a travelsphere hovering in front of her face where Cyborg says that “they” said the sphere would be where it is. The travelsphere opens and Arsenal reaches out. Apparently, the Outsiders called earlier, explaining why Cyborg said “they”. Beast Boy asks Cyborg if he knows what this means, and apparently, Donna Troy is back.
The Titans then get inside the travelsphere which takes them across the galaxy and Raven’s empathetic ability allows her to detect the distress over the Rann-Thanagar War which is causing damage for Rann and Thanagar, not to mention the Colu and Throneworld as well. Then the memories come flooding back, as Beast Boy recounts where Starfire’s sister, Blackfire kidnapped her and took her back to Tamaran. Starfire also adds that she remembers the Titans joining Omega Red to save her. Arsenal is happy to see Donna again and he says “I love that woman.”
Then it shows all the characters Raven, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Jade, Arsenal, Wonder Girl, Nightwing, Starfire, Shift, and Kid Flash as Donna gives an introduction to the characters. Kid Flash runs around in the travelsphere, noting that it is bigger on the inside than out. Everyone is happy to see Donna again, but Raven senses something else, and that there’s something “terribly wrong” and that “Donna may no longer resemble the woman we once knew.” The travelsphere nears New Cronus, and the old Titan members recognize it, but they don’t stop at New Cronus. Instead the travelsphere takes them to Minosyss where the characters don’t recognize it. On the surface of Minosyss, Cyborg says that “something happened between a Green Lantern and the Khunds” which makes a reference to Kyle Rayner stopping a Khund blockade of the planet Ancar and Jade guesses that he is involved. They realize that they cannot breathe, but the travelsphere has probably changed the way their body works a bit. They observe the landscape and Starfire says that the Warlords of Okaara had some kind of powerful weapon here.
Kid Flash observes the landscape while Arsenal jokes that Nightwing might have to rethink quitting the Outsiders and Jade is regretful seeing as she has to tell Kyle Rayner that her ex-girlfriend is back, though Kyle Rayner was Jade’s ex-boyfriend. The rocks around them start moving, revealing that they are the inhabitants of this planet, as they have rock-like tarps over them. After a bit of fighting, Nightwing orders everyone to get into the city while Jade keeps them with a green wall of energy but more inhabitants pop out and this time with rifles. They now know that they have to fight.
Starfire becomes fired upon and Raven sense that they are only protecting their home. After some more battling, Athyns comes down, instructing the natives to stop attacking. The old Titans recognize Athyns and Carrie realizes that Athyns is one of the Seeds, just like Donna. Athnys says that Carrie has a huge amount of power. Athyns then takes them Donna who is now tied up by electrical ropes. According to the last issue, the explosion meant that Donna’s battle with Athyns was a failure and that signaled Athyns’ victory. Then the heroes now know how she isn’t herself. Her face is red with rage and begins to insult Starfire’s people and tells Starfire to join her in New Cronus
On New Cronus, the Titans of Myth lament over Donna’s defeat and Coeus states that the heroes have saved them before. Hyperion replies that Athnys and the heroes will have to be punished for their defiance of the gods. He adds that for their survival, they must hide the truth from Donna. Coeus then states that the Titans of Myth have failed to live up to their promise to become better gods.
On Minosyss respond about the carnage on this certain planet. He recounts seeing children finding whatever food they could and many are troubled by the Titans of the Myth who seem to the ones causing much of this trouble. Athyns explains that the gods have interfered with Donna’s memories and explains that he sent the travelsphere, hoping to shock Donna and restore Donna to her senses. The Titans also hear the death of Sparta, who some of them have met. Donna then calls the natives “animals” and Arsenal, Cassie and Jade try to get some sense into her pointing out that the natives who have been murdered were solely the Titans’ faults. Jade puts on her a more harsh tone and Donna narrates that family have to tell each other the hard truths. Athyns pressures Donna even more and brings down her husband, Coeus.
On New Chronus, he hears the call and down below, the sky starts swirling. Apparently, Coeus has sent some of his energy down to Donna because she seems to be breaking the electrical rope that ties her down, her eyes filled with power. Donna’s narration causes much tension as she must choose between her two families.
The Titans of Myth continues straight up from the second issue, where Donna is breaking free from her chains. Hyperion comments that Donna is supposed to lead these gods “to our new existence beyond this universe!” On Minosyss, Donna strikes Athyns, a fellow Seed. Cyborg fires at Donna, but she dodges, sending Cyborg into some rubble. Donna then fires at Jade and then Starfire. Nightwing then realizes that Donna is attacking the most powerful heroes first. Donna flips Starfire, and Wonder Girl realizes that Donna’s move was an Amazonian attack and will kill Starfire if she gets the chance. Meanwhile, the natives who are watching on convince Kid Flash to follow them and Raven tells him to follow them, as they probably know how to end Donna’s mad run. On New Cronus, Mnemosyne, she tells the other gods that the Teen Titans should be spared as they saved them once, but they refuse to intervene. Coeus who watches on is concerned and hopes that they’re not too late to save Donna.
As Donna is battling Starfire, she recalls the playful fights that they used to have. Arsenal calls at Donna and for a moment, she seems to recognize him, calling him “Roy”. Starfire takes this chance to go for Donna and Arsenal fires a stack of arrows which Donna is able to catch and throw back. Wonder Girl has blocked most of the arrows, though one arrow had hit Arsenal. Nightwing tries to get Donna to return to the normal Donna she was, and Shift wraps himself around her and blasts her with phosphorus.
On New Cronus, Themis tries to calm Mnemosyne’s concerns, but tells her that it is not her concern, as “this universe is doomed, and we must leave it.” Down below, Jade goes for Donna constricting her in green energy. Donna narrates how she has competed for the same man. Regular readers would understand this as they both fought for Green Lantern, Kyle Rayner. Cyborg then tells Wonder Girl to wrap Donna around with her lasso. Donna stares in Cassie’s eyes and identifies with her divine heritage. Cassie had recently discovered that her father is Zeus. Hyperion seems to be idolizing Cassie, but his wife Thia knows what he is really up to and assures him that she won’t be added to his list of girls. Donna then breaks loose of the constraints holding her down. Cassie is frustrated as she tells Donna that she was the one who inspired her to become Wonder Girl and that this isn’t the Donna that she knows. Donna knocks Cassie back, saying that the Donna she knew was “a figment of your imagination.”
The natives who have taken Kid Flash show him something very technological and he is shocked. Raven is following carrying Athyns with her. Kid Flash is so surprised; he says that they “have to tell the others.”
Cassie kicks Donna trying to get through to her. Donna hesitates and hits her back. Cassie, in an attempt to bring back the old Donna, gets up and pulls out a picture of herself with Wonder Woman and Donna.
Kid Flash and Athyns report to Nightwing, who orders Raven to get inside Donna’s head. Donna is battling Cassie and then Raven surrounds Donna in a mystical smoke. Raven shows Donna the horrors of war ever since she visited this planet. Donna is shocked and Nightwing orders Cyborg and Jade to drill and blast a tunnel below the city. Cassie tackles Donna and throws her through the hole that Cyborg and Jade had created. The two fall through, eventually hitting the ground. As they get up, they find abandoned technology. Donna recalls Coeus telling her about her destiny and some weapon on this planet and now they have found it.
The others arrive, and Starfire says that she recognizes this weapon and Donna does too, explaining that it is a sun-eater factory. This brings Donna to her senses and she realizes that the Titans don’t want to destroy this weapon, they want to use it. She then remembers how an alien race called the Controllers owned this planet millennia ago. The planet had natural resources which made the planet a nexus. They made the natives mine for it and manufactured this planet into a manufacturing plant. They then used this planet as a nexus, which could allow it to transport a sun-eater to any planet that to them, were evil.
The Controllers then abandoned the planet, thinking that this way was too extreme and then the natives reclaimed this planet again. The Titans of Myth then promised the natives a better life and they attacked the planet to control the planet as a nexus.
The Titans and the Outsiders then make their way to the surface, and Donna narrates how the natives on this planet have always fought for their planet, long before the Titans of Myth arrived. Starfire stares off into space, and Nightwing is concerned for her as her home planet was destroyed and notes how emotional she is. Jade interrupts however, asking whether Donna can be trusted. Donna gives rations to the natives and goes to Arsenal and she begins to cry and regret what she has done for the Titans of Myth. Arsenal says that she needs to be a warrior, though Donna doubts herself as a warrior.
Cassie seems more injured than Arsenal, as Raven is healing her with her magical smoke. Donna apologizes for injuring her so badly, but she is taken away by Raven before she can respond. Donna then tells them that the Titans of Myth are coming, and they are already on their way as she can read their power. Donna narrates about the things happening around her: how Nightwing is preparing the natives for the attack, Starfire is still staring in the sky and Cassie is affected by all this blood she’s seen. Starfire then notices that the weather is changing, notifying that the Titans of Myth and finally arrived and Cyborg also agrees, saying that he can read many gods coming through. Donna and Athyns burn the body of their fallen sister, Sparta, and Donna swears that she will make their parents pay. The gods have all their armies with them and Coeus is with them. Donna notes how determined he looks. Hyperion then orders his army to attack but Coeus sees something approach them, and it is Donna, with a determined look on her face.
This is the last issue of this story arc and she is flying above Minosyss as she recalls how she helped the Titans of Myth take over planets before their take over on Minosyss. Meanwhile, the Titans of Myth come down on the planet with their yellow blasts hoping to kill anyone in their radius and start deploying their armies. Coeus calls for Donna asking her to join them as they depart the universe. Donna refuses and this makes Hyperion angry, but his wife, Thia, asks him to calm down as an inferior in order to become a moon goddess again. She also says that he is too weak since the death of his formed wife, Phoebe and cannot think rationally because of his lust for Donna. Thia herself does not feel sympathetic or empathetic and blasts Donna with her hands and Donna narrates “Thia always was a hateful bitch.” Coeus reacts and Donna says she wants a divorce. Donna narrates, saying how she’s had “two failed marriages,” and isn’t “even twenty five.”
She is referring to John Bryne who was killed in a car crash but also notes Donna’s current age, which is 24. Donna now knows what the gods are after, but she won’t let them have it but the gods quickly strike her. As Donna is battling them, the Titans and the Outsiders battle the Titans of the Myth’s armies. Cyborg scans the armies and he says that they are greatly outnumbered. As Raven tries to scan Donna’s mind, Crius controls her mind, expanding her empathy for everyone on this planet. Wonder Girl looks up to the Titans of Myth and senses a family relationship which worries Athyns, as he suspects that the girl might be vulnerable to corruption. The Titans and Outsiders battle against the armies and Donna narrates that this seems to take forever. Starfire defies Thia as she goes for Donna who seems to be unconscious. Hyperion lusts for Starfire as Thia warns him again. The god Iapetus kills the natives and then confronts Beast Boy and Cyborg and the god begins to create massive tsunamis, drowning them as he is the ocean god.
Hyperion then sees the hole in the ground made by the Titans last issue which leads to the technology below. With Donna on his chariot and his wife Thia behind, he steers his chariot towards the hole down below. Coeus intervenes and Donna narrates that his husband loves her, but very feebly. Wonder Girl lassos Coeus, telling him that he does not want the sun-eater. Apparently, what they need is Donna which is why Hyperion captured her. Arsenal hears this and out of his love for her, he seems intent on rescuing her. Hyperion then takes Donna and with his wife still following goes to the technology. Thia tells him that they’re not after the sun-eater factory. Hyperion starts up the technology and tells her that the planet’s status as a nexus point was what they were meant to be doing all along.
He says “a nexus point to what was once the multiverse,” making a reference to the Crisis on Infinite Earth and adds that this machine can be uses to teleport them to an uncharted universe, and that Donna is the key to this. Coeus however is begging him to release Wonder Girl so he can beg for Donna’s forgiveness. Kid Flash yells in anger at the dead natives around him. Jade who is carrying Nightwing is saddened by the fact that there are hardly any natives left to save and Arsenal makes hi way into the hole to save Donna.
Below, Donna asks why he didn’t use Athyns and Hyperion replies that she is unique and with the word “unique”, she remembers the multiverse before the Crisis on Infinite Earth. On Earth-1 she was saved from a fire by Wonder Woman and then was raised as an Amazon and became Wonder Girl. She joined the Teen Titans and married Terry Long. On Earth-2 she was raised in an orphanage after Wonder Woman saved her. On Earth-S she died in the fire and on Earth-7 she was actually saved by Anti-Monitor and she became his assistant called Dark Angel who fled before the events of Crisis on Infinite Earth. Donna also points out she was Wonder Girl before Wonder Woman even existed. Donna narrates how “this new universe didn’t quite know what to do with some of the more complicated holdovers from the multiverse,” in which she was taking the blame off the writers. Her history was a confusing one as it was always changed.
Then in a reference to John Bryne’s run on Wonder Woman, Donna recalls the return of Dark Angel who was revealed to be Anti-Monitor’s assistant. She talks about how she was stolen from Paradise Island by Dark Angel and she had put the curse on her, making her life many tragic lives – like John Bryne showed. She recalls how she was saved from the fire by Rhea, not Wonder Woman – like George Pérez and Marv Wolfman in their storyline “Who is Wonder Girl?” Donna then became one of the seeds of the Titans of Myth. Donna recalls all of her lives. One of these included Harbinger, who was the assistant to Monitor. She was killed in Superman/Batman. This meant that Donna lived side-by-side with Harbinger, though they had the same soul which also meant she was the assistant to Monitor and Anti-Monitor as Harbinger and Dark Angel. This is quite complex, though it attacks the confusion amongst Donna’s convoluted history. Recalling every life in those certain universes is indeed unique as she can use this knowledge to direct the nexus.
Above ground, the Titans of Myths are joining Hyperion below and Athyns and Wonder Girl are parting. Donna then demands an answer from Coeus. He tells them how Rhea had one of the twelve seeds that could link to the old multiverse, but she had died before she could reveal who it was. Also, all the Seeds died but three who were Donna, Sparta and Athyns, then, Donna Troy was killed on Earth and she was somehow reincarnated. Coeus adds that she is the perfect partner for him. Hyperion points out that he used Mnemosyne to alter Donna’s memories and he orders Donna to open the gate. Donna does what Hyperion is told, realizing that they are in a way, her parents. The Titans of Myth rush through the gates and Coeus asks Donna to come along, but she says no when she realizes that she has sent them to Tartarus which is a Hell reserved for bad gods. Hyperion and Thia find out and are angered by this and Hyperion strikes the machine. Arsenal then fires arrows at Hyperion. Thia then hits Donna with a grudge that she has had with him due to Hyperion’s wandering eyes. Hyperion blasts Arsenal and it removes it shield. Donna runs over to him to protect him from a second blast though she knows that he is too powerful for the both of them. Coeus who also hasn’t stepped through the gates, he can tell that Hyperion is about to kill Donna and he sees the devotion that Arsenal and Donna have for each other and activates the machine, sucking Hyperion and Thia. Donna narrates telling us that Coeus swears to guard the Titans of Myth assuring that they would never strike others again, but is not written in his balloon to save space, though he does say goodbye to her, telling her that she is his child and his love. Then, the whole underground is about to collapse, and Athyns and Wonder Girl come to fly Donna and Arsenal out from under there. Donna narrates how the natural resources on this planet are immune to the sun-eater, so if another were to be built here, it would only be a trap for the sun-eater. Though Coeus is in Tartarus, the hell for bad gods, he uses his powers to give off a sign – a flash of light which signals the end of the war. Arsenal kisses Donna, jokingly asking whether Coeus kisses better than him and Donna hugs Wonder Girl though Kid Flash seems devastated by the battle and the armies of the Titans of Myth surrender. Donna narrates that they would become guardians of the sun-eater and Athyns stays on this planet as their leader. Donna continues to narrate, telling us how the Titans and the Outsiders returned home and then she goes to live on New Cronus.
Then Wonder Woman appears and embraces Donna. Though she seems joyous, she is just hiding her sad destiny of “sacrifice” which is a reference to Wonder Woman’s murder of Maxwell Lord during the “Sacrifice” crossover. Wonder Woman has a gift for Donna, and that is Harbinger’s orb which was used to record the history of the universe. The orb was apparently left on Paradise Island where Harbinger was staying and was killed in Superman/Batman. The orb’s contents were revealed in a follow-up miniseries called History of the DC Universe. Donna then starts recalling how in her past life, as Dark Angel she was supposed to be Harbinger in the role for Anti-Monitor’s assistant. Her role as Anti-Monitor and Dark Angel shows her status towards the link to multiverse as “keeper of mystery and knowledge.” Donna updates the orb with her own life and then she has to file the post-Crisis universe. The orb then begins projecting the future and this makes Donna realize that something is wrong “I saw why the gods wanted to escape this universe so badly,” she narrates and continues. “I see old friends returning, but also death. I see the end of everything, coming far too quickly. And it is terrible.” The issue finishes on her saying that she needs help again and goes recruiting.
This is the end, though the story continues in the Infinite Crisis and other various DC story lines. This issue was late as it came out a month later then what it was intended to be. This meant that readers got to see her in JSA #77 prior to DC Special: The Return of Donna Troy.
Donna Goes Recruiting
With this, Donna discovers a new and dangerous threat, but is unclear to what it is and goes recruiting her closet friends to help her defeat the unknown.
Donna Prepares
There would probably be a good amount of confusion however, as it would have been expected that there would crossovers into other series or maybe a crossover in a crossover and this also reintroduces Donna into the DC Universe, however, these issues in which Donna Troy should be featured hardly feature her at all. There are a few lines dedicated to Donna, and there are a few other confusing aspects in this storyline as where Donna recruits. There is hardly a sense of continuity, as maybe the heroes from The Return of Donna Troy would have returned and what she’s been doing between that storyline and now is also unclear. Some superheroes also managed to fly to New Cronus. It must have somehow come closer to Earth for superheroes to do so.
With this four part series, Donna Troy feels guilty for dragging her friends into conflict once again, as she had already done so by endangering her friends when they battled the Titans of Myth. She begins the search for her friends. She knows that they will accept, but she feels guilty for doing so. Donna begins narrating and the themes are reflected with the "Who is Donna Troy?" storyline. Some of her narrating is in third person, but it is not a mistake. It shows how far apart she feels from herself. Her narration tells us that New Cronus is nearing Earth, and she searching for recruits to help her defeat a new threat that she has discovered. Donna thinks about how she is going to put her loved ones in danger again. She narrates that they have done so much for her and now she's asking them to do it again. This triggers a montage of a time line, where she sees the Titans when they were still teenagers and they have grown up, battling dangerous threats.
Donna summons Harbinger's orb and uses it to see how her friends are going. Apparently, the ending of The Return of Donna Troy was rushed so she didn't get to meet with her friends. She watches when she was killed by the Superman android and watches her own funeral. It hurts her to see this. She then watches Arsenal and Nightwing argue about the direction of the Teen Titans and Nightwing formed a new team called the Outsiders. The new team would recruit complete strangers so that all emotional ties would be cut but Donna can see that Nightwing still cares. Time passes, and there are new and old recruits and the Outsiders and Teen Titans are still connected even though they are on opposite sides of the continent. She narrates how hurt she feels when she needs to put her friends through this and she says that she can take the guilt. But then it comes back says it's not "going anywhere." She orders the orb to show her friends during present time and this shows the beginning of the first story.
The first story is the Joker's daughter. The second focuses on the Titans their connection to the Joker's daughter and third story is from the past around the "Insiders" storyline where they were rushed into space to help Donna in he Return of Donna Troy. Donna gets a chill, but not from a cold, but the fact that her friends will agree to helping her on this dangerous mission. She grips the terrace so hard that it breaks and she says that she will ask them because she knows they'll agree.
Airwave and Alan Scott
_______________________________________________________________
In JSA #77 the Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and Alan Scott follow Airwave into space where they find New Cronus. Hal Jordan tries to break into New Chronus, but Donna appears, stopping him. She tells them of a new unknown threat and that she's recruiting some heroes to help her stop it. Airwave agrees to help and so does Alan Scott. The opening of this issue shows Airwave flying through the air, barely missing an airplane and holds his hands over his ears to try and block out the various thoughts the people are thinking on the plane. One balloon refers to the OMACs with "...goes another one of them robot things in the sky, right over the lake..." and two referring to the Rann-Thanagar War with "...move out, Vath! For Rann!" and "...have Komand'r of Tamaran in custody..." Then it goes to the JSA HQ where many of the team members have been cut down. Atom Smasher has been sent to prison and Captain Marvel is busy chasing after Spectre. Power Girl is yet to be seen after "she ditched her second physical." Doctor Fate was attacked Spectre and Jakeem Thunder disappeared ever since a battle with Spectre while Hourman is looking for Doctor Fate and Jay Garrick is recovering from his battle with Professor Zoom. Mr. Terrific has heard that villains from all over have been gathering, and he suggests that they should call in reserve members. Then Airwave comes crashing through the roof the headquarters.
Meanwhile, in Texas, Hal Jordan is battling Weiling who was a formed US general but was turned into a super villain by Grant Morrison. Hal then talks to the army and they tell him that Weiling was after another commander for payback about him testifying against Weiling's trial. Hal then gets a call from Alan Scott and tells him that Airwave is in trouble. Hal flies back to the headquarters. Dr. Mid-Nite says that Airwave is somehow storing electromagnetic signals and storing them like energy. Airwave suddenly sits up and floats upwards and puts his hands over his ears again. Hal and Alan try to keep him down, but they are unsuccessful. He receives more signals about the OMACs and the Rann-Thanagar War so he flies out and uses his power to zap what looks like Times Square in New York City and he bounces off an enormous TV screen causing rubble to fall down below. Alan and Hal use their powers to catch the rubble. Hal's ring tells him that he flying at the speed of light and he is outside the city. He bounces off a large antenna complex and Hal and Alan are doing their best to try and keep up with him, cleaning up the damage when they can. Alan asks Hal if he knows where he's going or if this has ever happened to him before, but Hal doesn't know.
Airwave is still hearing transmissions and suddenly he explodes with energy. His explosion had just caused Houston’s electronics to disable. He heads to a satellite dish and flies up into space and he is still hearing transmissions from everywhere. For some strange reason, New Cronus is hovering around another planet even though the three heroes have passed the moon and it is definitely not Mars. New Cronus has probably dragged a planet with it, but the heroes have not managed to notice it. The unknown planet turns out to be Minosyss, where the sun-eater machine was found. The reason why there was such a mystery was that apparently, the penciler, Jim Fern failed to recognize that New Cronus was a small moon with buildings on it instead of the nearby Minosyss. The editors can be blamed for not fixing this up, but Fern has done a good job rendering it, adding to the confusion. Fern instead may have been drawing Minosyss. Airwave then recognizes New Cronus saying that the messages he keeps receiving are from there. Airwave says he can hear many cries of help, in alien languages as he can’t understand them. He says that they are coming from a war, in which regular readers would know it, it being the Rann-Thanagar War. Hal sees New Cronus being the source of all this and Airwave says it isn’t, yet Hal still fires at the planet. Then, Donna comes bursting out blocking Hal’s ray yet there is not background image in that panel, so it’s unknown whether he hit it or not. Alan recognizes Donna and recognizes the both of them as well. She tells Hal of his time as Parallax, a villain, and he has a hard time dealing with it. Alan says that he has heard of Donna’s death, but she feels that she was “taken away” rather than calling it “dying”. Donna then goes on to tell how the Titans of Myth have gone away from this planet and she says what her mission is, and that is to “… travel to the center of it [the universe] and confront whatever it is they've prophesied,” and tells how she is now recruiting. Airwave volunteers, but Hal says that he shouldn’t seeing that he doesn’t seem ready for this in his state, but Donna explains that they can use Airwave to follow these signals. Alan says he’ll come along and look after Airwave. Hal asks Airwave if he is ready for this and Airwave confidently says yes.
As Donna and Airwave fly towards the assumed New Cronus, Hal has a word with Alan and says that Airwave is apart of his family but Alan encourages Hal to make a place in his own family.
Then “elsewhere” Doctor Fate wakes besides his wife, Lyta, and he sees snow-covered mountains in every direction. He has no idea where Spectre sent him.
Cyborg
__________________________________________________________
In Teen Titans #29, Donna goes to contact the team and Cyborg agrees to go with Donna into space with Beast Boy in charge. Starfire, Bumblebee, and Mal are apparently already with Donna. Wonder Girl witnesses the murder of Maxwell Lord on television which happened around Infinite Crisis #1 and Superboy is shows reacting to this news. In this issue, most of it is centered around Red Hood’s attack on Robin (Tim Drake). In Batman, Red Hood is resurrected into Jason Hood who was Robin before and was killed by Joker. Tim is then left unconscious and he’s found by the Titans, including Donna. This sets up the next two issues where the Titans confront the Blood Brothers and shows how many people come back into life. There isn’t much Donna, as mentioned before, but it is vital as it shows the recruitment of Cyborg and many other heroes.
Starfire, Jade, Shift, Captain Marvel and Junior
____________________________________________________________
Near the end of Outsiders #30, Donna helps them defeat a demon called Sabbac and after the defeat of the demon, Arsenal and Donna hug like good friends do, and she tells them about an unknown threat and that she needs help. This scene continues in the issue of Oustiders #31. She tells them about how the universe it at stake and that she only wants to recruit Starfire, Jade, Shift, Captain Marvel and Junior. They fly off with Donna and then the issue jumps forward in time. It could be also noted that Starfire was already recruited in Teen Titans #29 and this occurs before Infinite Crisis #1 and obviously, it was before Outsiders #30-31, but this can be easily ignored.
Supergirl and Red Tornado
_____________________________________________________________
At the end of JLA #122 she only has a few words in there near the end, but it continues into JLA #123 where Donna explains that she is recruiting, and Green Arrow is very suspicious of her. Supergirl volunteers and says that she has heard good things about Donna from Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman had helped Supergirl train on Paradise Island. Red Tornado also volunteers. Green Arrow protests, but Donna says she only needs the most powerful and flies off.
Goodbye Supergirl
____________________________________________________________
In Superman #223, Supergirl goes to Superman and tells him that she going into space with Donna. Superman is worried for her, however, because she is inexperienced. She defends Wonder Woman’s killing of Maxwell Lord. The two then battle together on Blackrock, but Supergirl refuses to kill her enemy and then Superman agrees to trust his cousin. Even though Donna does not appear in this issue, it talks a lot about Donna’s recruitment.
The issue opens with a woman, called Lucia and she is in prison. She narrates that her cell mate fears her. Lucia kills slits her cell mate's throat and then she narrates how her cell mate wept fear, much like the bars of this jail do.
Then it is cut to Superman who is flying to his new location of his Fortress of Solitude and comments how his fortress is surrounded by living things. Inside he talks to one of his Superman androids who comments on the OMACs and how there is a storm brewing over Gotham City – a reference to *The OMAC Project and Day of Vengeance. Supergirl then appears and Superman makes a comment in reference to how the internet complains that her costume is skimpy and how her photos have been edited and illustrates how Verheiden and Benes have added a sexual element to her costume. Superman adds that he is surprised that she came without knocking and seems to be embarrassed to discuss sex with his cousin. Supergirl marvels at the Fortress of Solitude and Superman thanks his father’s crystals. Supergirl says that the Fortress reminds her of home and Supergirl wonders if she is just blocking her memories and says how she likes people who don’t need a Fortress of Solitude at home. Surprising Superman, she says goodbye.
In Lima, Lucia spends a week in solitary because of the murder of her cell mate. Her cell mate was also popular among the other cell mates, so Lucia is hated amongst of the jail, but the guards don’t seem concerned at all. The guards take her into the warden’s room where there is a table full of food and there is Talia of the Society waiting. Talia says that Lucia was apart of a drug trafficking trade and Lucia explains that the drugs were necessary for funding of the movement. Talia is interested more in Lucia’s passion and hatred. Talia then gives Lucia the blackrock which Bizarro retrieved saying that if she uses this rock, it could be used against Superman – something that Lucia has been wanting do for a while now: take revenge on Superman. Lucia then takes the stone and Talia asks her if she is ready for it. Lucia says yes and Talia kicks her to the ground and presses the rock against Lucia’s chest with her foot.
Back at the Fortress of Solitude, Supergirl explains how she is going into space with Donna Troy and Superman expresses his concern and discomfort from the fact that she is inexperienced and he points out how she lost control with the Justice League. Supergirl blames Lex Luthor and says that is well with Wonder Woman on Paradise Island. This jogs the memory of the murder of Maxwell Lord and how this has hurt superheroes all around the world. Supergirl doesn’t care, as she supports Supergirl’s decision in killing Lord. The Superman robot bursts in, saying that there’s an electromagnetic pulse in Lima and is similar to the one in Metropolis, a reference to Superman #217. Superman knows that it is Blackrock and flies off with Supergirl to confront this problem.
In Peru, the prison is on fire from an explosion and the blackrock is feeding on Lucia’s hatred and has been given a skimpy outfit that apparently the stone extends under her skin. Superman and Supergirl arrive on the scene, catching rubble and saving some civilians and Lucia who is now Blackrock calls out to the heroes. She blasts the two with her new found power and sends them into a nearby building. Superman recovers, hitting Blackrock with his heat vision. Superman then tells his cousin to fly back to the Fortress but she resists thinking that he is just protecting her, but then he tells her that she needs to find a way to defeat Blackrock. Blackrock tells Superman how she has been told how Superman beat her predecessor – by his heat vision. Black tendrils are going through Superman and she threatens Supergirl. Blackrock then turns to the crowd who are quite close to the battle, and threatens anyone that dares to interfere.
Supergirl arrives at the Fortress and asks the Superman robot what he has found. Then an explosion goes through the Fortress and apparently Blackrock had followed Supergirl. Her attack takes out the Superman robot but she survives it and hits Blackrock with her heat vision. Blackrock can feel that she is more powerful than Superman as she comments "You're stronger that he is.” Supergirl then punches Blackrock into a wall and she is clearly defeated. She asks Supergirl to finish her off. Superman arrives as Supergirl is holding Blackrock by the throat. Blackrock has some strength left in her and throws Supergirl into a wall. Superman congratulates Supergirl on not killing her opponent. Blackrock will return, but he is more interested in how Lucia got the blackrock, which he had thrown into the sun. Superman gives his cousin his blessing and now is confident with her and her time with Donna in space.
With the last panel of the issue, Talia and Lex Luthor are in business suits. Talia tells how Superman is now busy with the new blackrock and that their project is almost complete. In Vine Villains United, the project was meant to wipe out the minds of heroes across the DC Universe, but with the Infinite Crisis, it would be revealed to be something totally different.
Donna and Supergirl visit Wonder Woman
__________________________________________________________________
Donna appears next in Wonder Woman #222, Wonder Woman turns herself in at the Hague where she is on trial for the murder of Maxwell Lord. Supergirl and Donna arrive and Donna asks Wonder Woman to come to space with them, but she refuses because of her dedication to showing herself as an inferior to the law. Donna and Supergirl argue against Wonder Woman, but they leave on good terms. Wonder Woman then battles against Cheetah before the OMACs attack Paradise Island. Donna doesn’t do any recruiting here, but it is important to establish a reason why Wonder Woman could not help out Donna.
Firestorm
______________________________________
In Firestorm #19 Firestorm is with his friend Firehawk asks him to come to the Titans Tower. There, Firestorm meets Donna Troy and she explains that she is recruiting and that Firehawk recommended him, then introduces them to Starfire, Jade and Shift. When Firehawk allows him to go with Donna, an epilogue hints about the upcoming events in Firestorm #20-21. In this issue, this establishes that Donna has been using the Titans Tower for recruiting. Also, Starfire, Jade and Shift are seen bringing a laser which Donna requested. From that, it seems that the heroes were not flying into space but to the Titans Tower. In Infinite Crisis #2, they are on New Cronus, showing that the Titans Tower was used for a way station.
Animal Man
_________________________________________________________________
In Infinite Crisis #2, it shows Animal Man on New Cronus where most of team is on, and shows the conclusion of her recruitment. The first page is for Animal Man where he says goodbye to his family and observes how his powers are unreliable and arrives on New Cronus. Cyborg greets Animal Man and takes him to meet Donna. Animal Man doesn’t know where they are going suggesting that he was probably recruited second-hand. Donna explains how the threat is in the center of the universe. Red Tornado notes that the ship – or the planet – navigational systems have changed because a threat. Apparently, New Cronus has traveled to the centre of the universe and found it has changed, though why this happens is not really explained. It’s also unclear why the ship would recalibrate now considering that the rift opened in The Rann-Thanagar War #6 which was near Infinite Crisis #1 though the ship probably wasn’t recalibrated until the end of Donna Troy’s recruitment. This also shows that Donna does know what she is up against, that it is just some threat that lies in the centre. Airwave reacts to alien sounds in his head but he’s not sure how to describe it. The sequence allows readers to acknowledge that Animal Man has been recruited and establishes the main characters, including some of their personalities and relationships.
Infinite Crisis
_________________________________________________________________
Donna led her group of heroes to New Chronus to deal with a rip in space caused by Alexander Luthor. They also attacked Luthor through the rift. Disastrous events happened to the team, including the death of Jade and several other members who went missing. Donna also procured a 'red sun eater' in order to Superboy-Prime. Following the events of the Crisis, Donna returned to New Cronus where she analyzed the history of the universe as it had been recorded in Harbinger's old Universe Orb.
Donna as Wonder WomanOne Year Later
____________________________________
One Year Later, Donna Troy has assumed the mantle of Wonder Woman. Diana stepped down following the Crisis, feeling the need to 'find out who Diana is'. Although Diana's pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths Silver Age career has been brought back into continuity after Infinite Crisis, Donna's post-Infinite Crisis origin seems to be essentially the same as her post-Crisis on Infinite Earths one. Wonder Woman #1 opens with Donna stating: "I was born of magic," and the character is shown standing at a distance beside the Amazon Magala at the time of Diana's departure from Themyscira. Donna is referred to as Diana's biological sister throughout (Donna's original Silver Age backstory depicted her as having been brought to Themyscira later in her life, and not being related to Diana.) In a flashback, Donna wears her star-spangled Titan garments (which she also wears in the History of the DC Universe portions of 52 #2 - #11). In the present timeline of Wonder Woman #1, the only sign of her Titan regalia is a bracelet that forms part of her Wonder Woman armor.
In the midst of a fight with Cheetah and Giganta, Donna is overwhelmed when Doctor Psycho manipulates her into believing that Diana is attacking her with deadly force. At the same time, Diana, posing as a government agent, arrives on the scene. Subsequent issues have shown Diana's attempts to rescue Donna, with the revelation that Circe is behind the attacks and capture.
Donna works alongside ex-boyfriend Kyle Rayner, who has taken up the powers and title of Ion again. They go up against one of the Monitors who attempts to remove them from the newly rebuilt timestream, claiming the two are unwanted anomalies. Donna returns to earth with Ion in time for him to say good-bye to his dying mother.
After that event, Donna joins several former Teen Titans in the current team's battle against Deathstroke and his Titans East team.
CountdownChallenges from Beyond
_____________________________________
Donna soon after attended Duela Dent's funeral with the Teen Titans. After Duela's burial, she was confronted by Jason Todd, who sought her out as a kindred spirit. She repeatedly ran into the helpful Jason while trying to investigate Duela's murder. Her investigation was put on hold once she discovered the Amazons had invaded Washington, D.C. as part of the events of Amazons Attack. She travels to the city and confronts the recently revived Hippolyta to put a stop to the invasion.
Once Hippolyta informed her that she would consider a withdrawal only if Donna could include Diana in the peace talks, Donna left to find her sister only to discover that Jason Todd had followed her to Washington as well. Jason told Donna that he believed the Monitors were responsible for Duela's death but before anything else could be done, both warriors were attacked by the Monitor's aide, Forerunner. They were consequently saved by the seemingly benevolent " Bob" the Monitor, and recruited to help locate Ray Palmer. Their journey took them across the great of the expanse of the new Multiverse whereupon they were also joined by Donna’s former boyfriend Kyle Rayner (now a Green Lantern once again) as well as Ray Palmer’s successor Ryan Choi.
This loose confederation of adventurers became known as the Challengers from Beyond. After several haphazard missions in the Nanoverse, they eventually found Palmer in the parallel reality known as Earth-51. Shortly thereafter, their colleague Bob the Monitor betrayed them and Earth-51 was soon destroyed as a result of the Morticoccus virus. With Palmer in tow, the Challengers eventually returned to their home dimension. Donna, Ray and Kyle agreed that with the growing individuality of the fifty-two existing Monitors, there was too much room for corruption. They all agreed to serve as a watchdog group in order to "Monitor the Monitors".
New costume after joining The Titans againReturn of the Titans

Returning to Earth, Donna reunited with her old teammates the Titans. The group reformed after discovering that the children of one of their deadliest foes, Trigon, had been systematically hunting down members of the Titans both old and new.
Blackest Night
In the continuing storyline of Blackest Night she was been attacked by the Black Lantern version of her son and her ex husband who were both killed in a car crash.
