Dominic Bercier is a Canadian writer-artist-designer-author and is principal at MIRROR COMICS STUDIOS in Ottawa. His influences include a steady flow of comics illustrated by Jim Lee, Moebius and Dave McKean. He graduated from an arts high school in Ottawa winning the Visual Arts Medal and the overall Artistic Excellence Award. He then studied at OCAD in Toronto, where he received an honorable mention in the entry scholarships, was a finalist in the YTV Achievement Awards for Visual Arts, and worked steadily in illustration including pencil assistant for three different artists in Toronto, drawing cars, buildings, bullets and speed lines for CHAOS!, Top Cow, Image, Dark Horse and more. Dominic then worked as an illustrator and designer, developing comics and graphic novel projects in his free time.

In 2010, Dominic Bercier co-founded Mirror Comics [Publisher] where he was president and publisher for its entire duration, until its closing in 2015. At Mirror, Dominic wrote and drew GHOST KING : A BOOK OF CHANGES, released his 24 Hour Comics Day effort, LIKE NEVER BEFORE & LIKE NEVER AGAIN [which had been cited in the event’s 2006 Anthology], and finally TREADWELL [a deeply personal journey into a dream], which garnered a nomination for Best Graphic Novel in the Aurora Awards for Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy, as well as a nomination in the Joe Shuster Awards. He also drew an additional five titles, and lettered and designed virtually all of the thirty projects that Mirror Comics created. In 2015, Bercier shut down Mirror Comics, and, like a phoenix from the ashes, established Mirror Comics Studios, a graphic novel and comics making project where he is sole founder and principal. This allows Dominic to develop a number of projects as writer-artist-designer-author, including a saga he came up with at the age of 14 and perfected throughout the years.

He continues to engage with a strong social media presence on Facebook and Twitter and other platforms, where he daily speaks to about 4k followers combined. He is also a regular blogger on his website where he wears his heart on his sleeve and relates the ups and downs of making comics and graphic novels.

Landing somewhere between artistic indie comics and the superhero mainstream, Dominic Bercier’s works are recognized for their detail, depth and richness, his stories celebrating the ability to share complex ideas in a simple manner, often tipping his hat to shamanism and the unconscious.
