Liam!

@Isis:  Love that suggestion to have Liam Neeson as Dr. Strange.  However would a full length Dr. Strange movie actually work?   It's fun to think of who to cast for the role.  Sorry but I've no one in mind at the moment.

I can see Liam working.  Bales already done batman, and you need some a little seasoned and older/wiser, I think, for the Sorcerer Supreme.

Before I even saw your suggestions, I was thinking the same thing - Liam all the way. Bale's great, but the chances of him playing the Sorcerer Supreme are slim to none. Depp would also be great for a quirkier take on Strange.

MAGNUM P.I.!!!!!!!!!!!!  aka Tom Selleck

I know a lot of people know him for his work in comedies, but if you see a movie called a Simple Plan, you can see that Gary Cole could have the chops to pull it off.

If they made the Animated Movie into a live action movie just as how it is with Liam as Dr. Strange the movie would be perfect!!!

#11 Posted by Aronmorales (9305 posts) - - Show Bio

Vincent Price would be perfect, but the serious time differences...

#12 Posted by Incredible Hulk-Prime (1466 posts) - - Show Bio

I agree Liam would be perfect.

Dr. Strange is based off a black-man, who was the spirtial advisor to the president who freed the slave (AL)

I love Liam Neeson, but I wouldn't pick him as Doctor Strange. I think he's too old for the role. I would personally prefer a younger actor to portray a younger Dr. Strange.

I agree with sora_thekey who says that if they use the plot they used for the "Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme" animated movie, a younger and more cocky Stephen Strange would make more sense. Which is why I really like Johnny Depp in the role. Not to mention the man is a genius of an actor. His name recognition would also help sell and market the film.

In fact, if Baron Mordo is in the film (which would make sense if he is), that's who I would have Liam Neeson play. Imagine Baron Mordo believing that he is the rightful heir to the Ancient One's seat as Sorcerer Supreme. Mordo stays loyal to his master, but wonders if his time will come before it's too late because even Mordo is beginning to show his age. Suddenly, the Ancient One falls ail and is in his final stages. Just as Mordo believes his loyalty will finally be rewarded, he learns that he is not destined to be Sorcerer Supreme, but that Stephen Strange is.

Baron Mordo can not accept this. He's spent so many years devoting himself to the cause only to have all his efforts and loyalty thrown away. If he won't be given the Sorcerer Supreme honor, he will take it by force. And so the final battle is set: Baron Mordo (Liam Neeson) vs. Dr. Strange (Johnny Depp).

The young vs. the old.
The old vs. the new.
The veteran vs. the rookie.

he would make a good Dr. Strange

#20 Posted by Phorqe (2109 posts) - - Show Bio

I would hope its someone relatively unknown. Big name actors are too demanding. They bring box office numbers but not much else.

#21 Posted by StrangerXL (211 posts) - - Show Bio

Rufus Sewell, Gary Oldman or Timothy Dalton as possible name recognition stars.  If going with an unknown I'd say Cliff Simon.  Julia Stiles would be my choice as Clea.

Liam sounds like a fantastic choice, but what about Dormammu?

#24 Posted by Jamesob5 (4 posts) - - Show Bio

I say Liam Nesson - http://www.fillthepart.com/Parts/doctorstrange

#25 Posted by RUKM (279 posts) - - Show Bio

Liam would be great but he was Ra's Al Ghul I doubt he would do it. Johnny Depp would be good. Edward Norton based his performance in the Illusionist on Dr. Strange but damn he was already Bruce Banner. My go to's are Sam Rockwell, Hugh Laurie, or Ethan Hawke.

Jack Huston from Boardwalk Empire.....

Though I'd prefer Liam Neeson, this swayed my decision a bit.

No one is better than Jim Caviezel (Count of Monte-Cristo) he looks the quintessential Strange

#29 Posted by boschePG (2707 posts) - - Show Bio

Liam Neesen is a good choice.

I read that Jonny Depp is going to retire soon cuz he is going blind. Already legally blind in one eye.

Dr Strange was a surgeon before he discovered the Ancient One. An older person is better IMO. Plus, time is all relative to Dr Strange if you take into account the the war he was apart of witht he Trinity of Ashes

Ill toss out a choice

Daniel Day Lewis

i've always thought viggo could really pull it off

If only we had a time machine; I would say Vincent Price, he's absolutely perfect.

Oh God please NO!!! He would be playing Edward Scissorhands, who would be playing Captain Jack Sparrow, who would be playing Tonto, playing Dr. Strange. Don't do this to one of my favorite characters.

#36 Posted by hyiena (2048 posts) - - Show Bio

I read Patrick Dempsey wanted the part.

#37 Posted by tikhunt (676 posts) - - Show Bio

Viggo Mortensen

#38 Posted by SlamAdams (301 posts) - - Show Bio

Joseph Fiennes, Toby Kebbell, or maybe like David Duchovany. Given his new career upswing, maybe even Colin Farrell.

Patrick dempsey hes got the look of a young steven and is a great actor

#40 Edited by Nox_Caelum (3 posts) - - Show Bio

@silver_knight75: Luke Evans(from Immortals, Furious Six and Desolation Of Smaug)

If not Luke, then Anson Mount and Pedro Pascal are my other favourites for the role alongside Viggo Mortensen.
