    Review: DMZ #63

As accusations abound, Matty goes back to confront his old pal Parco about how he's betrayed his trust.

    The Good

Burchielli's art is absolutely fantastic. It's got authentic realism and detail for its scenery, yet it gives just enough of a cartoonist's flourish to the characters to keep their body language fluid and their emotions clear. It sets the perfect tone for the very matter-of-fact, intense hard sci-fi tone of the story which, in itself, gives a great gritty credibility to this nightmarish future.

    The Bad

This is most certainly a comic that's better experienced in trades than in single issues. So much so, in fact, that I wonder if it's really that worthwhile in this form to anybody except long time fans who need a regular fix. Without a recap page and with very quick "middle act" pacing, it feels fragmentary even as it intrigues me to start the series from an earlier point.

    The Verdict - 4/5

DMZ's another book that I've wanted to read for a very long time but have never had the occasion to before today. Reading this makes me feel like I've stepped in to minutes 200 through 210 of a really kick ass three-hour-long feature. I'm intrigued by the impressions I've gotten, but now I know I need to go back to the beginning to understand just what the hell I've read.

When photographer Matty Roth is given the information that could turn the media's take on the war into a whole new direction, he must struggle with whom to trust and what side he'll take -- his country's, or his city's?I've become a big fan of Brian Wood, and I ad...
