Should he change his first name?

I mean given popular use of his first name as an insult I think he should go by something else.

@Batnandez: Yes that's my point, evreytime Batman says his name I feel like he's insulting him, he needs to go by something else.

@acer51: His name is Richard. The name "Dick" is short for Richard. Just pretend Bruce calls him "Richard." if you're too sensitive to the name Dick.

Personally, I cracked up every time Alfred referred to Robin / Nightwing as "Master Dick" on Batman: the Animated Series.

The name itself isn't rude at all. It is only as funny as the reader perceives it to be. So his name isn't rude: WE are rude for seeing it that way.

Really? Is this a thread that exists now? This isn't a joke?

Fun fact: the word dick in its vulgar usage came about both 1. Before it was a nickname for Richard, and 2. Before it was slang for a detective.

We're all just a bunch of adults here on comicvine. No, really.

Helllllll no! He'd have to change his superhero name from Nightwing then, cuz the only Nightwing I care about is Dick Grayson.

Plus it's kinda funny to just see Batman brooding and then say "... Dick"

I can't believe there's honestly a thread on this.
