Raised in Haly’s Circus as a skilled trapeze artist, Dick Grayson studied under Batman for years as the first Robin until maturing into the hero called Nightwing. He would eventually assume his mentor’s role for a short term, but recently reclaimed the identity of Nightwing upon Bruce Wayne's return.
Is anyone going to miss the interactions between Dick and Clark? I always liked how Superman watched Robin grow and helped guide him on his course as an uncle figure. If Superman now is rebellious and arrogant, does that make his relationship with Dick/Nightwing non-existent? Superman was an instrumental part of Dick's growth. I've always felt like Nightwing mantle was a tribute to both of his mentors..

yeah...i do miss that...
I liked how when Dick and Bruce were soar at each other, Dick kinda went to Clark behind his back..bwahah... I'm still meaning to get some more old Nightwing comics of them together. I really liked the uncle figure-ness Superman had with Grayson. =) I'm exspecially looking for this comic, lol.

Well, we don't know but I assume it's still the same. However, the costume has been retconned as almost identical to the costumes the Flying Graysons wore. Which makes you wonder how the hell he came up with the Robin outfit. Or at least, they retconned it within the pages of Flashpoint:
Dick Grayson and Kal-El are my two favorite DC characters and i always liked their relationship with one another. I always thought that if it wasnt for Kal-El that Dick would have ended up more like Jason Todd, succumbing to the darkness that is Batman

I have to disagree with you. Dick is naturally a happy, go lucky guy. He's always worn his heart on his sleeve whereas Jason came from a different background entirely. Dick was never destined to become Batman. They are too different ideally. He may or may not have continued his masked career as Nightwing, but becoming as corrupted as his mentor is reaching

@spiderbat87: You've gotta admit, the JLA supes is a little cocky. And those events take place during the advent of vigilantism. You'd have to assume Dick Grayson was only a lad then when they decided to cram all of the robin history into one compressed time period. From what I've read over in Superman(perez) he is matured although the buyout/deconstruction of Daily Planet doesn't help matters. He's also a little distant. Then again I could be wrong since I can't stand that series and only picked up the first two issues. In action comics he's edgier, but that's more about his notorious public image as an alien and loose cannon.

Ok well i didnt mean exactly like Jason, but more of a hardened emotionless person. More like Bruce.
I kinda just really hope that the arrogant Superman thing was a result of bad writing on Perez's part. Modesty has always been a defining point for Superman, to me. George Perez turned Superman into everything that Superhaters complain about.

Yeah and instead of helping him, Ollie put him in the street.
That whole thing was stupid. It was supposed to be DC's attempt at addressing "youth's greatest problem", which implies that it would actually be taken seriously or examined at length or something. All that happens is Ollie freaking out, beating Roy a bit and kicking him out in one issue, and then in the next issue Roy walks up to Ollie and punches him in the face for putting him on the streets (apparently Hal and Dinah helped him kick the habit off-panel, they never went into how or what happened or anything like that). How is that addressing the problem? That's just depicting a character with the problem, and then the character miraculously getting rid of the problem in no time flat.

Since when is Superman rebellious and Arrogant? That was only in the beginning of his career before he met Dick. Also, Dick was adopted at a really late age in new 52. So I guess not so much of an uncle figure now.

@SmoothJammin: i imagin that it di happen but the whole uncle relasonship never did due to the fact that every one is much younger than they were pre-52
I get the feeling Nightwing's origin is so epic it can't be contained in one single issue. (or DC still has no clue what's going on.) I wish they touched on it with Zero issue, both after quitting as Robin and after relinquishing as Batman.
@KNlGHTWlNG: I hate being left in the dark when it comes to continuity. How can DC expect us to handwave years of our favorite characters development, years of history gone down the drain and they expect us to sit back and go with the flow? It's not right. They need to come through in a big way.
Really I think DC needs to give an in-depth explanation on the histories of many heroes. Otherwise you end up with shit like GA (Where he looks like he was barely an adult when he mentored Roy) and Red Robin (Where apparently Tim was never Robin) Its annoying knowing things have changed but not knowing how or why. And the issue with the timeline doesn't help either. They've already screwed Dick over by putting Donna and Wally on a bus, and sending it into a black hole. Then they seemingly de-aged Roy and made it so Kori doesn't even remember Dick fully most of the time. Then they went and took away his history with the Titans, one of the most important times in the character's life!!! Really I can only assume he was never leader of the Outsiders or Justice League either. DC owes all Dick Grayson fans an explanation. Big time.
