does anyone think that dick would be a better green lantern then he is a batman?

#2 Posted by Donnieman v5.1 (44323 posts) - - Show Bio

No.

#3 Posted by DEGRAAF (7869 posts) - - Show Bio

no, doesnt mean i would mind seeing him be a lantern for a couple of issues
#4 Posted by Jor-el Zod (136 posts) - - Show Bio
@Jor-el Zod:
I mean who's more worthy then him, trained by batman lead several teams, and one man army on the streets of bludhaven.for some reason the i don'y find to be a great batman. though he would be a better green lantern than kyle rayner or guy gardner.
#5 Posted by DEGRAAF (7869 posts) - - Show Bio
@Jor-el Zod:
he would just remind me of a copy cat Rayner if he became a green lantern
#6 Edited by Jor-el Zod (136 posts) - - Show Bio
@DEGRAAF:
why a copy cat ray is nothing like dick.

I do see your point, but does Sector 2814 really need another Green Lantern? It is an extravagant idea to think about though.

#8 Posted by DarkChris (303 posts) - - Show Bio

Actually it's not a bad idea. This event could test Batman's love for Dick (maybe). But mostly I prefer Tim as Blue Lantern,because he was sure that Bruce was alive the entire time!

#9 Posted by DEGRAAF (7869 posts) - - Show Bio
@Jor-el Zod:
they both show their emotions more. If he were to become a GL, i just think he would have extordinary will power, and create interesting constructs. I think if he isnt confined by the bat family, he would be alot like Rayner

I know this is a bump, but I don't see why everyone against it. Back in the day he was a candidate for Abin Sur's ring.

#11 Posted by richardjohngrayson (414 posts) - - Show Bio

I love Dick as Nightwing. Don't want to see him as anything else.

#12 Posted by Superguy0009e (2265 posts) - - Show Bio

IDK, he could be a great lantern, but the criteria doesnt fit him

#13 Posted by BlackArmor (6134 posts) - - Show Bio

Not better than Bruce but he wouldn't be bad at it

Wasn't it explained Wayne didn't make a very good lantern as his willpower has to much fear in it or something like that.

Where was that?

#16 Posted by nightwing91 (3912 posts) - - Show Bio

@BlackArmor: Well you see, it was in Green Lantern vol 4 issue 9, Hal lets Batman us his ring but to properly utilize it he has to move past his parents death, something he's unable to do.

I could see him as a member of the Indigo Tribe.  He's a fairly compassionate fella.

Can some one knowledgeable answer this queston...if there's supposed to be 1 green lantern per sector of space...why is it that the earth sector has 5???

#19 Posted by Gambit1024 (9890 posts) - - Show Bio

He'd be a better Blue Lantern. Tim's more of a Green Lantern.

#20 Posted by joshmightbe (24464 posts) - - Show Bio

He'd be better that Hal

It's two per sector now. However, a given sector may have additional GLs if they are assigned to one of a small number of specialist groups like the Honor Guard or the Alpha Lanterns. Hal and Kyle are the official lanterns of 2814 while John and Guy are Honor Guard. Alan Scott is a GL in name only, his powers are magical in nature.

Thanks for clearing that up for me bro =)

No. I'd like to see him as a Bluey, though.

@Gambit1024: Fair enough, but I don't think that Tim has more will at his age than Dick had at his age. I'm sure he has other strengths, but not really will.

#31 Posted by Gambit1024 (9890 posts) - - Show Bio

@ReVamp: Really? I think Tim's had more willful moments in his career as Robin.

#32 Posted by ReVamp (22863 posts) - - Show Bio

@TheGoldenOne: I was going to consider that, but the thing is Tim is one of my favorite characters too. The thing is, Dick was leading his team against really powerful threats, while Tim... Yeah...

#33 Posted by ReVamp (22863 posts) - - Show Bio

@Gambit1024: Well, I can see why one would think that, specifically because when Tim was Robin comics were more realistic than when Dick was Robin, but the thing is, like I mention to Octopus the Second, Dick was leading his team against the likes of Trigon and going into space to fight with/against Tamarans, overcoming the fear of the unknown and the obstacles that naturally came to him due to the fact the he is "nothing but human".

Switch that. Hal and Kyle are officials of 2814 and Guy + John are Honor Guards. Thats why Guy and John are in one book together.

@ArturoCalaKayVee: ok...thx for the info =)

You can see Dick wield a power ring (Abin Sur's ring in fact) as Night Lantern in the Superman/Batman story "mashup".

It's not a great story as a whole tbh but there are some interesting moments between him and Batman.

#38 Edited by SmoothJammin (2331 posts) - - Show Bio

Blue Lantern I agree. Dick's not restrained to Detective work/Crimefighting in Gotham like Bruce is. He can get away with going on space adventures with the GL's or JLA. More time on his hands too(1 ongoing while Bats crosses over in like 5 books a month)

Edit: Forgot to mention that Batman has wielded the green ring, yellow ring AND the white ring. It's only fair.

Possibly, but Blue fits him more, haha.

#41 Edited by SmoothJammin (2331 posts) - - Show Bio

@Kurrent: How do you figure? As a BL he would be assigned to a green lantern and granted many more abilities as long as he's in proximity. He could even command the corps from the rear and play up his strengths as a leader. I think it would be unwise to grant Dick too much power/Green ring. Whenever he visits home that would be overkill for Gotham's rogues..

@nightwing91: So this is super late to the forum but I agree with your assesment. Im a huge nightwing fan and read that Abin Sur's ring considered him (but he was too young at the time or something like that) in a Batman Encyclopedia the other day and just about died. lol. Love to see him as a GL for a few issues or episodes of whatever. If Cyclops can get his power up....so can Dick!

#43 Posted by sethysquare (3843 posts) - - Show Bio

we have enough GLs as it is.

The only time they specifically showed it is in Action Comics 642 back during the Action Comics Weekly era, there wasn't much shown aside from the panel I posted earlier in the thread. And I believe they did go further in depth in an encyclopedia or something along those lines. I'll see what I can dig up since your a fellow Nightwing fan.
