My brain tells me to roll my eyes but right now I have this stupid excitement smile on my face :)
Dick Grayson
Character » Dick Grayson appears in 9479 issues.
As the first Robin, Dick Grayson was the most famous sidekick in comic book history. As he ventured forth on his own, he formed the Teen Titans and became their leader. When the boy became a man, he became the independent hero known as Nightwing.
Dick Grayson's Post-FOREVER EVIL Fate Has Been Revealed
@the_stegman: I mean, the covers usually have some relation to what actually happens. Even if there's no gun i still hate this idea. Why not just leave dick alone? Why shove him into forever evil, ruin his life, and change who he is?
da fuq.....
@gustavoburciaga1: What are you talking about? I explained the Winter Solider solo series. He was a hero at the time not a villain. It's pretty much what DC is doing with Dick right now.
Got to give it to DC for taking risks. I find this completely plausible really and I think Dick will fit well in the super-spy genre.

I kind of like it, Forever Evil is supposed to be a big event, it has to change SOME things, the JL is radically different, Dick, thanks to Owlman's obsession was made part of this, and because of it, his own life is different. I mean, I don't think spy when I think Dick Grayson, hell, Tim Drake would make a better spy than him, but I'm now curious as to how they will pull this off.
Why does having a public ID mean he can't be Nightwing? It works for Captain America and Iron Man.
Because it would fuck up batman's life.
Not really. If Oliver Queen's identity were exposed in the GL/GA days, that wouldn't affect GL.
Oliver Queen didn't adopt GL
Should've had him become Red Hood and had Jason become Agent of Spyral.

No it wouldn't. Bruce Wayne is publicly known as financing Batman and Batman Inc, which would've included Nightwing. This means nothing other than one person financed by Bruce Wayne was unmasked. Considering the distance put between himself and the identity of Batman via coming out as the one paying for Batman and the staged rescue of himself in Year Zero, there's plenty of wiggle room there to keep people from eying Bruce as Batman.
Yet people keep figuring out it's Bruce...
so Batman is going to let Dick work for an orginazation whose leader murdered Talia ya i dont think so

No one knows Batman adopted Nightwing
Obviously Batman's dislike of guns never rubbed off on Dick.
Interesting choice of words
wait wait so hes going to get away from batmans shadow by being told what to do by batman? "After a career of being overshadowed by his cape-and-cowled father figure, this is a chance for Grayson "to take off the mask and step out on his own in a world where he's not simply being another hero like the hero he grew up" "Batman, though, wants him to transition to a different heroic life for the greater good — it's "a hard sell," Seeley says"
nightwing was his persona bludhaven was his and for a time gotham was his. and now hell have none of it because bruce told him so. this isnt a step forward if anything its a leaps backwards.I know some saw nightwing as a demotion after taking the batman mantle but it was just a filler role for him. He did before when bruce had his broken back like then he was just stepping in for a brief moment of time.Nightwing is his role as his own man. This is akin to being robin sure he may work alone and no longer be a sidekick but his role was determined by bruce something he broke away from as nightwing.
@captain13: what are you taking about of course they do it has been show on a number of occations that Dick Greyson was Bruce Wayne's adopted son
DC kinda put themselves in this position, but nowadays people are just naturally inclined to hate anything DC does without even knowing about whatever it is. Can't wait to see the 'THAT'S IT. I'M DONE WITH DC COMICS' posts at Newsarama and CBR--as if this really was the last straw and they were following DC intensely before this.
@the_stegman: I just wouldve liked it if dick had an important role at least
As a huge fan of Dick Grayson as both Robin the Boy Wonder and Nightwing I'll probably give it a chance though I am not going to lie. I am a bit disappointed that Dick isn't a superhero anymore. The spy thing sounds messed up. Maybe it is just because it would be so radically different. I'll give it a chance though I am not exactly excited. Tip of a hat to DC though for having the balls to pull this off.
I don't usually hate stuff at first sight, but when I do, it's something like this
Same here
Of corse. He's already got tons ofgorgeousgirls practically tearing his pants off, why not have James Bond's job, too?
Nothing at all like Winter Soldier!
Even after all these years, Bucky and Robin are still ripping each other off. Guess some things just never change. XD
Dick was equipped with a firearm when he was a cop in Bludhaven, but he didn't kill anyone with it (actually didn't use it at all apart from training). I'm hoping that DC will refrain from turning him into a killer. If there's anything about him that could tie him back to his crime-fighting roots, it's his strict moral code that he learned from Batman. I don't mind the whole super-spy direction. It's new and refreshing and I'll ride along with it. However, I just hope that he'll use his wits and ingenuity to get the job done without taking any lives.

But everyone knows Bruce adopted Dick, I guess he would find some way to get out of it. Also this identity thing is BULLSH*T!!!
I'm just going to say that I'm on board with the idea. Also, even though they said he's trying to shut other people he is close to, I wish Dick would cross-paths with the other robins.
To the complainers about the premise, this idea isn't unique to Winter Soldier. This has been a niche before that.
@captain13: didn't he pack a gun during his time as Batman?
So I'm guessing the new Nightwing will either be Talon, Tim Drake, or Cullen Row
@captain13: You're missing the point. People know Dick Grayson's Nightwing, and they know Bruce Wayne adopted Dick Grayson. Ergo, Bruce Wayne is Batman. If he goes around parading his name on his chest, it's going to exacerbate the issue.
The GA/GL analogy doesn't work.
People need to remember that Jason still uses guns and Bruce doesn't really care. In the Batman/Superman annual Bruce even went to Jason specifically because he uses guns and because he needed his help.
Still, it is like Dick and Jason have switched roles in the New 52. That is just so weird. Jason is leading the Titans and has friends and Dick is doing secret spy stuff with guns and is some friendless loaner. xD
@trunkszero157: Jason Todd is the hero version of Jason Todd.
BRUCE WAYNE DID NOT ADOPT DICK GRAYSON IN THE NEW52. Dick was placed in group home run by one Bruce Wayne's charities. Dick sneaked out and went to look for his parent's killer. He discovered that Bruce was Batman by circus magic (his uncanny ability to read body language). He then went on to become Robin. All that other stuff is pre-new52. In today's world, they don't allow any 20 something rich boy adopt a 16 year old kid. Hell, the only think orphan kids are wards to, is the state.
What's probably going to happen is same thing that always happens whether it's DC or Marvel is that everyone is going to bash it and bash it until it comes out and then G-Man is going to give it a 4 or 5 out of 5 stars and so many people are going to start talking about how awesome it is while the people (who won't have even read it) will continue to say it's the dumbest thing they've ever done.
And as far as the Winter Soldier likeness goes, I always thought that Red Hood and Winter Soldier were similar as far as origins go (rogue sidekick tries to kill their old mentor, fails, goes good. Of course Red Hood's "goodness" is debatable I suppose). But DC has had this set in motion for a while, that's why they've kept Nightwing in the spotlight during the entire time of Forever Evil.
Besides, DC and Marvel have copied each other time and time again in the past. I don't see that fact ending anytime soon. lol
I have extremely mixed feelings about this. On one hand it is great to see that Dick doesn't die, still has a book and they are bringing in elements of Batman Inc.On the other hand I am not sure how I feel about Dick being a spy and being removed from the Bat family.
I'll be picking it up because Dick is one of my favourite characters but to be honest I can't say that I am really excited for it, hopefully the creators can prove us all wrong and produce a book that really works and brings something awesome and new to Dick.
@zeeguy91: It's not that he can't, but changing the core of the character to something completely different sort of necessitates a change to the rogues he has been building. Particularly now if he's a sneaky gunslinger.
Sure he COULD still be fighting the same guys, but I'm willing to hazard a blind guess and assume they're going to shoot for espionage/political thriller stuff instead of super heroics.
Anyway, goes without saying I'm not thrilled at the decision.
Also I'm gonna say that outing Dick is almost as weak as killing Sue Dibny. Out a character that REALLY matters and focus your story on the ramifications of that. I thought the outing of Spider-Man was way compelling, and put him through a whole new set of drama that shook the core of the character and kept him fresh. Reversing that was an awful decision, IMO.
