In other news, Bucky Barnes fakes his death, becomes a circus acrobat, and wages war on street crime.
Dick Grayson
Character » Dick Grayson appears in 9486 issues.
As the first Robin, Dick Grayson was the most famous sidekick in comic book history. As he ventured forth on his own, he formed the Teen Titans and became their leader. When the boy became a man, he became the independent hero known as Nightwing.
Dick Grayson's Post-FOREVER EVIL Fate Has Been Revealed
UUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I hate this sooooo much but I'm slightly interested in it because Grayson is my favorite DC character.
But seriously......-.-.........ugh. He was Buckified.
Not a Nightwing reader but just a thought: If you're a super spy shouldn't you make up a new identity after faking your death with the last one? Walking around with both his naked face and a huge initial in his chest could be, you know, suspicious.
I'm sure this has much more potential than just killing him off, anyway.

Lol The "G" on his chest reminds me of someone...

For those fearing the gun thing, maybe it will be like Reese in Person of Interest, he will only shot in the knees, or just somewhere that doesn't kill. But I do hope he still have his sticks and batarangs just in case, for close combat :). I'm fine with this, the character has to evolve.
Using a gun's a little weird for Dick though, especially having worked with batman for so long. But you know, spies
@alkusanagi: but he already does my good chap!
Oh, ok. Well at least they're not going to do anything crazy like turn him into a CIA agent that looks like Tom Cruise.
Nice! I'll be working this one in to my list. Seems to me like DC is trying to get a bit more variety with their titles. I like it!!
I'm not happy that Nightwing is going but this at minimum novel enough that I'm willing to give it a chance at bat. Maybe it'll be really cool. Hopefully.
DC whiffed on this one. I respect the talent they have headlined, to be sure - but the concept is still unappealing to what I would imagine to be most existing fans of the character and offers little pizzazz to anyone not affiliated with comics.
More that that though, someone previously mentioned that it looked too similar to Bucky (@night_thrasher) and I happen to agree with that sentiment. Further, let's be brutally honest; Dick isn't some post cold-war relic that was expatriated forcefully by some shadowy, para-military organization. He's Dick Grayson; the first Robin and the heir to the Mantle.
DC really could have hit a home run with this by either giving Dick a graceful (yuk yuk) death that would provide meaning and inspiration in this world of the New 52. At the very least they could have used his public outing as a way to further put rifts between he and Bruce as the need for secrecy deepened in relation to the other members' secret identities. That way you would have preserved the branding as Nightwing and offered a legit out to the story-arc's ending without having to remove a profitable property.
Coming back to the concept though before I conclude; why would we care about Dick when he is completely removed from the circle which made him notable? It's not to say that writing that story is impossible and I will certainly tip my cap if they can pull it off - but that's a lot to accomplish.
PS: (@jonny_anonymous) I still heart you bro. For your sake and your good money - I hope this series rocks your socks off.
To the people complaining, why? Every time the big two take a chance on a new idea you guys complain and then complain the next week that they're doing the same old schtick. At least this is something new and interesting

I wasn't making a pre judgement on whether or not I think the series will be good. But the similarities to Winter Soldier aren't exactly hidden!
Wow this is just lazy what was the board meeting for this....did they crack open a Winter Solider comic and just say perfect lets make Dick Grayson a half assed version of this.
How this lazy? You don't even know how this will play out. At least give it a chance and then you can complain all you want.

I'm okay with it. I'm a huge fan of Dick and willing to give this one a try.
That's what she said
Sorry it had to be done haha
DC seems to just want to cash in on anything that is popular or shocking. We have a Winter Solider storyline from 3 years ago they are ripping off. If you read the interview the co-writer name drops every popular TV series he can trying to say it will be like those. I wonder if they will try to cash in on the Invincible's "shocking" issues and have Dick get raped again.

Fair enough but dude look at the timing Winter Solider just came out in theaters. So DC is now attempting to cash in on a storyline that was good when Brubaker wrote it with Bucky and Black Widow a few years ago. It does not even make sense for Grayson to be this character when you have Steve Trevor. It just seems like a lazy idea pulled from the pages of Marvel's recent past.
Nice! Not as much fanboy rage as I expected to find in the comments section.
Any clue who's on the art? Is it Mikel Janin?
I'm down for this for 2 reasons,
1) DC needs some super spy action.
2) While yea I'll miss Dick Grayson's Nightwing suit, he's gonna be the James Bond (Yea I said it, BOND, NOT Winter soldier) of the DCU and that's pretty sweet.
My only questions now are, why not work for A.R.G.U.S. or the D.E.O.? That'd be even better, or How do you keep this from Batman, the man who knows all? Other than that, as a whole I'm fine with this.
It really could have been a lot worse, so I'll give it a shot even if it looks a lot like Winter Soldier. Whatever they do, I just hope they don't make him angsty.
I will say this, people often complain that comic book characters stay the same, Dick Grayson is one of the few characters you can't really say that about.

And, in other news, DC has announced the new series "West", in which fan-favorite character Wally West makes his triumphant return! Only this time, he's a fighter pilot who works for the KGB!
But, seriously, this looks like it could be cool. I'll definitely be giving this a shot.
So he becomes a spy... The world will forget about dick Grayson as nightwing
then he comes back as nightwing and with a new costume with nobody remembering forever evil

This, and Winter Soldier was an assassin not a spy.......
Why does having a public ID mean he can't be Nightwing? It works for Captain America and Iron Man.
Because it would fuck up batman's life.
