Dixon's entire Nightwing run if you can get it, but at least definitely pick up the Nightwing Year One Trade paperback and The New Teen Titans Judas Contract.

Yeah don't bankrupt yourself in the process lol. If you don't mind reading about his time as Robin or Batman then I also suggest Robin Year One, Batman Long Shadows, Absolute Batman and Robin: Batman Reborn (Not released yet and going for 70 dollars on Amazon, but it'll contain issues amounting to about three trade paperbacks, consisting of Dick's time as Batman working with Damian. Or you can get the individual Batman and Robin Volumes starting with Vol. 1 Batman Reborn) I also reccommend all of the New Teen Titans run. Get the omnibuses though, they range from about 40 to 60 dollars. Expensive, but worth it for the amount of issues you'll get. If you want cheap Nightwing trades then Devin Grayson's run is really the only way to go *shrug* But I did check on Amazon and there are some of Dixon's that are going for cheap.

Though you'll have to be willing to by used copies.

Thanks a lot! Which trade do you recommend? Any idea why the Nightwing trades are so expensive? Are they out of print? If they are out of print, wonder if DC will rereleased them.

Yes. Out of print unfortunately. Fingers crossed for a re-release.

Of the ones I showed you i'd say On the Razor's Edge, though keep in mind its a series, so its really best to read it in order to the extent you can. In which case it'd be Love and Bullets (3rd volume of the series), A Darker shade of Justice (4th volume), Big Guns (6th Volume), and On the Razor's Edge (7th Volume). They're definitely more expensive, but if you could get some money together or find them somewhere cheaper i'd definitely recommend Nightwing Year One and A Knight in Bludhaven.

This might sound obvious, but have you checked your public library? Surprisingly, many public libraries have a great graphic novel section, which includes a lot of trade paperbacks. I bounce between LA and a small city in Ohio and both places have tons of TPBs to check out. Sometimes I have to order them from other libraries, but the delay is worth it!

As for what to read, I'd go with any New Teen Titans and Nightwing trades you can. I much prefer The Judas Contract over Year One, but if you can borrow them from a library, there's no reason not to read everything you can get your hands on.

@dicksihavestudied: The first Nightwing trade I ever read was from the local library. I remember it was the Nightwing/Huntress crossover.. that was where my journey into comics began actually. The library has tons of graphic novels to choose from, funny how easy it is to forget sometimes. My comic book store also has a sweet deal on trades, 25% off each one and with every six purchases you get a free comicbook. If anything try comixology too, they sell back issues for 1.99 a piece.
