    Review: Detective Comics #870

The "Impostor Wars" conclude as Batman finally discovers the identity of his impostor - - a man with a terrifying connection to the impostor Joker.

    The Good

The twist about the impostor Batman's identity might've been easy to guess given that there aren't actually that many suspects in this story - - but, still, I didn't see it coming and the reveal adds a horrifying dimension to the plot we've been seeing. Actually, I was really impressed by how Hine was able to weave some serious challenges to Batman's moral fiber and philosophy into such a brisk, action-drive storyline. Even though the impostor Batman is a monster, his motivations put the real Batman art serious risk of culpability. This arc has also renewed my appreciation for Scott McDaniel's art. Not only does his work have the flash it's always had, it also has some serious storytelling skills.

    The Bad

I have no problems with this issue. No joke.

    The Verdict - 5/5

I've gotten to read this story arc from the beginning and, because it's been such a fun read for the past few months, I'm going to push the rating over the cliff and give it a perfect rating. Sadly, this isn't the kind of Batman story that's going to crossover and get recognition from the mainstream press, nor will it probably get some lavish collection, but if you're looking for something that puts you back in touch with what you loved about Batman in the first place - - the full-throttle gothic morality plays with ample doses o the weird and the morbid - - this will put right back there.

What an interesting story arc so far.  Mobs on the loose... Batmen and Jokerz everywhere.  Cats and Dogs living together, total chaos!   This issue bring us to the conclusion of the story.  Everyone is at the Bartholomew Fair and pandemonium erupts.  Destruction and violence in all directions.  Just a total bloodbath. There was much violence in the issue, although the style of the art... somewhat "cartoonish" made it feel not so gruesome.  But there are people killing each other in very "interes...

I just might be the last man to laugh about this 0

This is the fourth (and concluding)  addition to the "Impostors" storyline by David Hine/Scott McDaniel team.    I would say I'm disappointed about this issue if I had higher expectations. It didn't sink in the territory of bad but I couldn't find anything really rewarding about this. It did what I thought it would so I can't complain all that much but it's also hard to find much to praise. The writing just as in the previous issues seemed uneven, it still had those fun references (like the Dr.Ka...
