    Don't trust your eyes

As i have said before, in my mind Detective Comics is the gritty version of Batman whereas the main Batman title is the more superhero-like title.  Thus far in the new 52 that seems to have been reversed, with two mostly trivial story arcs already having wrapped in this series.  This issue comes out of nowhere though and returns this series to its roots.  The end result is two pretty solidly told stories (there is a backup story here is well) which focus on the darker side of Gotham.  That is not to say that they are stand-out stories, but still well told.  In the first Batman has to track down three things for the Scarecrow in order to avoid someone's unfortunate end, and the backup story features Two Face as he deals with what he thinks is an assassin.  I think this issue is the best so far in the new series, and shows that DC knows that it has to make this series at least above the middle of the pack.

The short Penguin arc in issues #5 to #7 wasn't terrible but wasn't great and so with that wrapped up I was expecting to get straight back into where we left of with the Dollmaker arc. But now with I've found myself checking back on issue #4 to make sure that the story arc had not ended.Detective Comics #8 seems to be a one off starring Scarecrow, C...

      It's Scarecrow! 0

Detective Comics #8 is a standalone story, and a pretty good one if you ask me; not everything has to be a 20-part crossover. Daniel's art is fantastic in this issue; his Catwoman is beautiful, his Batman is awesome, and his Scarecrow is über-creepy. Even his non-Poison Ivy was great. Please check my mini-review here:http://bit.ly/I2K9WqComments and feedback are always welcome!...
