The Thief of Night!
Seems Batman can't get his hands on this thief that works in the shadows. He get's a chance to nab him in the warehouse district while he's stealing a fur coat. Not only does he miss out on the collar, but he gets his name in the paper for letting him get away.
There's plenty of action between Night-Thief and Batman spattered throughout this issue, but the things that got me interested more were the other character developments. Bruce and Jason have a relationship that is building. The trust is growing, albeit slowly. Bruce is looking for him and seems a bit put out that Jason is off with one of the circus folk. Jason is missing the circus life... being in the spotlight. What great foreshadowing there. We all now by now who he becomes, but at the time this was written, they give us a big hint here.
Bruce and Vicki are still on a rocky path. He's just not keeping this relationship on two feet when he's taking off to do the Batman thing... and in the middle of a date no less. He's just not meant to have a love interest, is he. Although, I think it's better that way. He's a dark and mysterious character with many ghosts, keep him that way.
This is a good issue and one to hang on to.
