Let's face it, Detective Comics has been the weakest of the 4 bat books, and this week's issue is the biggest letdown yet.The story starts off strong, delving a bit more into the mysteries around the Joker... then all of a sudden, it ends before it could even begin. Huh?? What is going on? I literally freaked out a bit, and then realized that without warning there was a "backup" story in this week's issue of Detective comics.Let's face it... if I'm going to buy a Batman book, I expect a little m...

    Confusing 3

This issue had issues. It started off strong, it seemed like we were going to get more info on the Joker or his disfigured face, but that quickly went away. Batman witnessed some bad stuff, chased a dude, beat some people up and then boom! The Penguin is there. That was the issue. It was very disappointing. This disappointment then turned into confusion when suddenly a backup story started. This "backup" story was very confusing because it really had nothing to do with anything that has happened ...

Every issue of this series has been genius. There’s a crowd in Gotham City that has a reaction to what has happen to The Joker. As we know from the last issue The Jokers face has been removed. The crowd believes The Joker maybe dead. It’s a youth crowd of mad max rock and roll theme and they want down with the Batman. As for The Penguin we do get a brief moment with. This issue is a half story, there’s a second story with Cat Woman and at first I didn’t expect much of it, however this was so goo...

    Nothing there 0

BadI'm not sure that there is even enough story in this comic for me to review it. The plot advances at a snails pace and it ends as soon as it begins. Batman seems to have become really dumbed down in this book, he has fallen into a trap almost every issue. Batman is all about a hero who can over come anything by sitting down and thinking things through, but here Batman just walks straight into the middle of an angry mob. Also the Joker's face story arc is not interesting as it is an abominatio...

    REALLY!?!?!?!? 0

GoodThere is not really a lot to say. The only good thing in this issue is that the protest over the Joker is seen and we at least get a glimpse of the Penguin. Other than that the art in the back up was fairly well done and it did have some hooks for what could be an interesting back up feature if it is handled right.BadThis issue was severely lacking. At least each of the previous issues were full issues instead of this where we are subjected to only 12 pages (60% of the 20 pages allotted not ...

    Occupy Joker 0

See that cool cover? Tony Daniel does the cover, just as he has done for all the previous issues, as well as doing the writing and drawing duties. But man, that's a cool cover. Penguin kinda looks like Danny DeVito's the Penguin mixed with the 60's Penguin. He looks cool. And that cover tag line? "Batman... Penguin... Only One Controls Gotham!" Sounds and looks awesome right. Yeah, well, it's NOT!Seriously, this comic isn't worth the $2.99 price tag. It's not even worth half that. It's definitel...

Isn't she the clever little bird? 2

This is a strange issue which compounds the problem of this being a strange series thus far.  Detective Comics is of course too big to fail for DC, as the company derives its name from the original series, but the series seems almost content knowing that and putting out almost zero effort.  The cover here gave me some hope that the relatively weak first story arc was going to be left behind and maybe that a decent Penguin story would get told.  There have been a few great ones over the years, so...

    Better Backup 2

While I want to appreciate the unusual character's chosen for the split image cover, the fact that they don't line up AT ALL makes this less than stellar. I mean, it's not bad really, but it isn't as great as it could be. And the art does remind me of the older Tony Daniel style, so that's a bit of a win.Hoo boy, having a co-feature this issue was a mistake. Since the price wasn't increased, the page count wasn't increased, so the main story is cut way short. This might've worked better with two...
