Midnight Rustler of Gotham City!; The Mystery Man Who Walked on Air! last edited by pikahyper on 03/02/19 07:01PM View full history

“MIDNIGHT RUSTLER OF GOTHAM CITY!” Commissioner Gordon summons Batman to help him solve a problem involving four slaughterhouses each losing a herd of cattle. When the commissioner receives an anonymous tip about a fifth attempt, Batman boards a Refugee Island ferry believed to be a part of the smuggling, where he encounters one of the thieves, Tad Wolfe.

In "Midnight Rustler of Gotham City!," Batman thinks he has quickly solved a case of drug smuggling when he captures a shipping magnate importing illegal substances. But Bruce Wayne keeps having strange dreams in which an Indian chief warns him about things to come. Attending a party thrown by the brother of the man who was just arrested, Bruce learns that he may have pulled in the wrong man. On the trail of his new suspect, Batman finds his progress hampered when a herd of wild cattle get loose across the Gotham streets. Jumping on horseback and leading a posse of policemen, Batman tracks and arrests the right man - Wild West style. The Indian chief's dreams come true.

The backup story in this issue features the Elongated Man in "The Mystery Man who Walked on Air!" If ever there was something to get Ralph's nose twitching, then it's a man who walks by the window of his holiday apartment - on the 9th floor! Not only that, the man then proceeds to grab a passing bird which enables him to fly away, and subsequently a fish which enables him to swim for miles. (We also learn that EM has a stretchable limit in this yarn! - doesn't say how far, just that he's reached it!) It turns out the mystery man is the Flash in disguise, who is on the trail of a gang of crooks.
