    1. UNTOLD TALES OF THE BAT-SIGNAL: (Batman) the editor of the Gotham Gazette decides he wants to run a feature story series about the Bat-signal so he assigns a reporter named Dave Purdy to find stories of how it changed people's lives with the big goal being to find a story where the signal alone saved someone. first James Gordon tells of a time when the Bat-signal was mounted on a police boat and pointed into the water it lit all the way to the bottom of Gotham harbor so Batman could see to save a trapped cop. next, Vicki Vale tells how she was kidnapped when she found crooks stealing the Bat-signal but she tricked them into letting her use the signal to dry clothes, and as she moved the clothes the sun reflected off it sent out a flash signal that alerted Batman. finally, Dave talks to Batman and Robin who tell him how after some hoods took a pot shot at the first Bat-signal so it couldn't be used to call Batman they made a new one with bulletproof glass and a super bright light that cuts through fog but on their way to deliver it to GCPD headquarters they got a call about boy scouts trapped in a forest fire. rescuers couldn't find them in the smoke but the new Bat-signal's light cut through the smoke to lead them to safety. they also tell him of a time putting a different slide on the Bat-signal allowed them to show the entire city a picture of a criminal called Killer Craig and how they put an infra-red filter on the Bat-signal so it could be used without being seen by the naked eye during WW2 blackouts. The next day the Bat-signal is on display at a hall of scientific marvels. after hours an escaped criminal comes in shooting. Batman and Dave hide behind the Bat-signal but Batman was hit. Dave waits for the con to get close then blinds him with the signal before knocking him out and this becomes the first story in the series.
