    Disingenuous 0

From Pure Nerd Nip writing for The Capeless CrusaderIt being 'Zero Month' over at DC I feel like I would be a bad fan if I didn't pick up at least one #0. Detective Comics #0 features two stories this month. The main, 'The Final Lesson' traces Bruce Wayne's time training to become The Batman. What starts as an interesting concept with some stellar art and imagery quickly gets bogged down with repetitive dialogue and panels/lines being almost directly lifted from the Ra's al Ghul scenes of Batman...

"This is What Closeness Will Bring You" 0

What looks to be Tony Daniels final issue of Detective Comics at least for the foreseeable future it is nice to see him where he is best at and that is doing art for the Capped Crusader with Gregg Hurwitz writing this origin story. This issue we see Bruce travel all the way to the Himalayas to learn at the hands of Shihan Matsuda. Whilst there he starts having feelings for a girl from the market called Mio which Matsuda doesn't like saying that to carry love is too carry weakness. he also tells h...

The Psychotic Perspective: Detective Comics #0 0

The Final LessonI’ve only read one issue of the DCNU Detective Comics previous to this one, but I was not impressed by the last issue. I thought Daniel’s writing was awful, and the art was a long way from good. Did issue zero fair any better? In this issue, we get to see Bruce go to Japan and learn martial arts from a great master.Disaster Once MoreThis issue was not as slipshod as the last one, but it was boring. This issue followed a classic (tired) Batman formula…admittedly, with a slight twis...

    Crusader In Training 0

Crusader in TrainingBy: Andrew HinesI'm going to break my own rule and cover an actual Batman issue. I've made due the last few months by not getting involved with a title directly involving the Caped Crusader. With that being said, this issue gives us something we rarely see in one issue, a glimpse into Bruce Wayne's path to becoming Batman. We all know his origin story, but this is a look at something more special: his training. We've seen a few glimpses from the old DCU and more in-depth in B...

    The Dark Knight 0

I really enjoyed this piece of comic book literature; while my judgement is admittedly clouded by the fact that I have not read too much of Batman pre-flashpoint, I have read some, and have read his Year One book. Still, I feel this comic book is a valuable treasure that will remain close to me for a long time, possibly forever. Why?When exploring the origins of heroes or characters, nothing resonates within me like the Dark Knight, Batman, and his struggle to attain what he considered perfection...

    Bruce's training 0

Review:When people talk of Bruce Wayne's origin story they only focus on the murder of his parents and at some point in time he becomes Batman - The Dark Knight, but we never actually see his adventures in those years where he attain his training and knowledge. Sure we have panels, clips of an episode and some mentioning about his trips going around the world here and there, but never an actual story or even a series for that matter. In Detective Comics issue #0, we get to see him going to the h...
