A mercenary, he can work with the heroes if the money is enough

Well when he first started to give the Titans a hard time, he was a major villain. Then by the late 80's to early 90's Slade became DC version of the Punisher. Which I guess is a anti-hero type. Then the late 90's he went back to his original roots. Which in my opinion best serves his character.
