A Deathnote is the mystical notebook which the Viz Manga series, Deathnote centers around. It is owned by a Shinigami Death God, at least until it drops down into the Human World, where it will belong to the first human who touches it. The Deathnote has the power to kill any person whose name is written inside it within six minutes. There are specific rules to the Death Note however.

1. The Human's name that is written in the death note will die

2. This will not work unless the writer has the human's face in mind so that everyone else with the same name doesn't die aswell

3. If you do not write  a cause of death within 40 seconds the person will die of a heart attack.

4. After writing the cause of death the writer has 6 minutes and 40 seconds to write the details of the death.

A final note on the Death Note. Those who use this tool is no longer permited into heaven or hell. There is no afterlife for them, but they will still die.
