Sable’s intuition has morphed over time, so that she has become the subject of much speculation that she in fact possesses precognitive abilities.
Despite numerous overtures from supe-affiliated groups, Manchurian has always declined offers to become a member of any crime-fighting organization. He is an enigmatic figure at times, who clearly aligns himself with the forces of justice yet will not fully integrate into their culture, perhaps as a reaction to his ordeal at the hands of a US government agency.
Benny Boatright is a noble hero that suddenly finds himself in a death arena situation with other heroes and villains, forced to fight each other. How they all arrived in this situation is unknown.
Meridian’s seeming invulnerability has been tested on many occasions, most notably by the mad genius Professor Hieronymus Higgins, who almost forced Meridian to cross inter-dimensional space and accidentally murder himself before he arrived on Earth.
While a successful businessman and part-time hero, Gainsford never forgot his military roots and has donated millions in money and merchandise to aid wounded veterans. Sadly, his nerve endings were virtually fried when he heroically stayed behind during the collapse of the Rift. He lives now in constant pain…but he will never give in to it for as long as there is justice to be done.
Rat speaks little and allows his actions to speak volumes instead. He once saved a victim of human trafficking by gnawing off her arm and throwing it outside their shared jail cell, thus bringing guards, whom he incapacitated. “Whatever it takes” can often be very messy indeed.
The Glyph appears to all intents and purposes as a benign force in the world, though its reluctance to communicate means its motives are unknown. When Professor Hieronymus Higgins attempted to withdraw linear time from the vicinity of our galaxy, the Glyph restored order by shifting backwards into a negative dimension and rewiring the brain of Higgins’ doppleganger, causing a paradigm burnout and locking out Higgins from his own existence.
Melody Toon is a true sociopath who exists only to destroy. Her legendary cruelty is unparalleled, while the perfection of her voice simply acts as a lure to unsuspecting victims.
After many years in the shadow of Sable, Mink stepped out to pursue a career path of her own. Her relationship with Sable can now best be described as “antagonistic.”
Sol Invictus is destined to die at the same time Earth’s sun finally perishes. Yet he has come close on numerous occasions, most notably when Nihilus Rex ordered the Known Universe to cease existence, an event that precipitated the Chaos Wars. In keeping with his noble stature, he is incapable of knowing love.
George Truman is a different kind of patriot: A man with a purpose to unite all men of the world, to share a common bond for the love of country and tolerance of others. He does not blindly follow his country, nor does he fall into jingoistic language — instead, Truman respects and encourages the patriotism of all men and women, regardless of nationality.
Cube murdered the supe Silver Man in a fateful event that culminated in his incarceration in the Joseph Sanitarium, aka “The Hole.” His demented brand of evil makes him reviled by Supe, Neut, and sometimes Fear alike.
The Mutate has been appropriated by various cults and quasi-religious organizations as their spiritual leader throughout the years. However, it exhibits no allegiance, except to the notion of worldwide peace.
After her husband’s murder by the hands of the U.S. Government, Electronika has a certain disregard for the law. She believes all knowledge and scientific discovery should be shared freely.
While Berserk feels no pain during his battles, he must deal with the intense trauma afterwards. He is a truly brave warrior who knows that the cost of doing battle with Fears and Neuts is extremely high. He is close friends with Omni-Engine.
Nephilim is a peace-loving, gentle giant. But trouble follows him everywhere, and as a result of his alarming appearance he is unloved and unaccepted by humanity. No matter Nephilim’s heroic actions, his intent is generally misconstrued.
The Collective must spread frequently to its multi-host body in order to survive. It enjoys a productive symbiotic relationship with members of the Korean Space Agency, which is now widely considered the finest in the world.
While Replic-8’s unique abilities make him immensely powerful, it has been discovered in recent years that Simon Foster’s mind is the key to holding them together.
Hieronymus Higgins delights in creating paradoxical puzzles, which he believes cannot be solved by any other man alive at any time in history. However, he secretly knows his intellect cannot compare to that of Manchurian, whom he has tried to kill on numerous occasions.
Shadow Runner may not be an entity, in the strictest sense. Rather, he is more likely to be a construct born of the sum total of our belief in magic.
Mister Chuckles is extremely fond of animals, except monkeys, which he believes are robotic creatures that live outside his window.
When the Projector was lost in the collapse of the Rift, Dog 54-Alpha stayed behind to protect Omni-Engine, who was close to death. Disregarding intense pain that would have crippled most men and women, the beast stayed with his new master until help came in the form of Nephilim and Silver Man. It is noteworthy that Dog 54-Alpha shows intense dislike for Meridian.
Hart is a disciple of a notorious Voodoo cult, which deifies the undead and professes a hatred of all living things. She believes herself to be their queen, incarnate. As a result of her depraved relationship with Higgins, she hates men most of all.
Though Lightspeed can move at what appears to be impossible speeds, theoretical physicists now believe she does not move at all; rather, she can cause the Universe to move around her. The staggering implication is that when her powers are active, Melanie Arnold literally becomes the center of the Universe.
Hater’s horrific ordeal at the hands of his enemies has resulted in severe depression and other psychological issues. He now delights in torturing and tormenting his enemies. Hater is a loose cannon called upon whenever the military needs some very dirty work to be done.
When a displaced race of super-beings make their way across the cosmos in a climactic event known as the Trek, one of their children becomes lost in a cosmic storm and is subsequently left inside a nebula to die. This child becomes Apex – the former pupil of none other than Meridian!
