Would Deadpool still be as popular if he wasn't White? Like what if Deadpool was Black, or Native-American, or Hispanic, etc.?
Deadpool

Would Deadpool still be as popular if... ?
"why would that make a difference?"Race can be important to alot of people, for different reasons. Some people are racist, that's obvious. There are also people that connect more with characters based on their ethnicity, sometimes characters can be stereotyped, etc.
"The only reason why he is popular is because he is funny. Most people do not even know what he really looks like underneath the suit. "was going to be my point as well

I've been a Deadpool fan for years the reason I've loved the character for so long is because he's a quirky , witty and insane character, NOT because of what's under his mask. p.s. which for those of you who don't know looks like"a shar-pei mixed with Ryan Reynolds".
"Would Deadpool still be as popular if he wasn't White? Like what if Deadpool was Black, or Native-American, or Hispanic, etc.?"I don't think it would matter.... besides... he's basically always wearing his costume and he is pretty scarred....
I know that alot of people don't know what he looks like under the costume, but people are also under the impression that he's white. I was just curious if he was something else, would he be less popular or more?

With Deadpool it wouldn't matter. His voice is mutated and so is his skin. So no matter what color he was he would still look gross.
"The only reason why he is popular is because he is funny. Most people do not even know what he really looks like underneath the suit. "
He's not white anymore though... according to the Comicvine page.
If he was black or something, people might think the character is racist in itself. I can see it now "sure they make the black guy the funny crazy one!" ha ha ha.
"Deadpool is WHITE?!"
"Everyone is wrong ................Deadpool is Canadian ."which is not a race.

But your basically talking about racism here and discrimination in comics. You could open this up to gender and sexual orientation as well.

"LMAO quoted wrong person<------- note to self, dont post when not well and half asleepsorry Gonzo "
No worries Mistress ;)
"I thought the guy had a healing factor! What happened?"His healing factor has, umm... side-effects. Unlike people like Wolverine or Hulk, who only generate tissue when they're wounded, Deadpool's constantly generating new tissue. He also possesses terminal cancer spread throughout his body, and they constantly wage war inside of Deadpool's body: the cancer is destroying skin and brain cells, while his healing factor is generating new ones. And the fact is, if he had one but not the other, he'd die.
Also, that picture is just one artist's rendition of him. Every artist draws him differently without a mask on, and some are prettier than others.
Ok. So an out of control healing factor that results in cancer. That's a great idea! I never would have thought of something like that!
from comicvine bio:
He remembers an upbringing in Ohio but even he recognizes that this may not be true.
I don't think he's actually Canadian though I think Wade Wilson is.

Yeah why is this still up for debate? On Marvel's own site under Deadpool's profile it says:
Citizenship: Canada
Place of Birth: Canada

I curse Hugh Jackman and Joe Quesada for that.
You guys are forgetting Deadpool has two childhoods, and a Canadian father who is still alive. So all you guys out there saying he's Canadian, and all you guys saying he's American, well guess what you're both right. He has both Canadian and American citizenship, but was probably born in Canada.
I've posted this once, I've posted this 1000 times. I've done the math, and seeing as how Deadpool has two childhoods they both gotta be correct. He obviously remembers the Army General father since that's the father that keeps coming up, but his Canadian father is the one still alive.
WADE WILSON'S ORIGIN
1) He was born in Canada by his mom and dad.
2) His dad left but is still living in Canada and his mom became an alcoholic.
3) His mom moved to the states and remarried to a US army General.
4) His mom died of cancer and he was left with his abusive adoptive father.
5) His father was shot by one of his friends in a bar fight and Wade left and joined the USA military.
6) At some point he dropped the USA military and became a mercenary, working on a secret government hit squad (with members like Slayback, and Garrison Kaine.)
7) Wade then got into trouble with T-Ray and he either stole T-Ray's identity or T-Ray stole his. (It depends on the writer, but personally I think Deadpool is the true Wade Wilson)
8) Wade discovers he has cancer
9) Wade is told by Garrison Kane about Department K, and how they could cure his cancer.
10) Wade was experimented on and became a failed experiment.
11) The rest is self explanatory.
It's the only way his two conflicting origins can fit. The father he met in the bar and at the end of the Deadpool Origins one-shot, is his real father. His adoptive father died in that bar fight.
He was born in Canada but was raised for the most of his childhood (estimated 8 - 10 years old to 16- 18 years old) in the states.

Look at the fact people wanted to kill the director of the new Spiderman film for the fact, some one decide they could use a black actor as Spiderman. "How dissapointing answer coming from you...
Spider-man is a character well known to be white, I would be angry aswell if I got a Luke Cage movie with a white actor.
But deadpool, come on! he has a horrible face, no matters if he is (was) white of black he would still having a horrible face.

If Deadpool is black or latin or asian, it changes something, the cultureral background changes for the same, it could be more or less popular.
Think about Batman, if he was asian, his cultural background changes and for the same the character changes.
Something like Spiderman:India with Pavitr Prabhakar.
Wouldn't make a difference. None of his skin is showing on the costume and besides, the look he's supposed to have is his skin kind of burned-off from all the healing and damage.
Why is more dissapointing that awnser when is coming from my?That "indian" spider-man is a bad example, he stills White, but you are right in the part of the cultural background, people expects that changing the race change the complete character, and also What is the difference? ...

Spiderman still having the Great Power and Great responsibility, an asian Batman would be continue to be the GODDAMN BATMAN, Deadpool SHOULD BE FUNNY, no mater what happens to him.
The one change that I really complained is Baraka-pool in X-men: Wolverine Origins, he wasnt that funny (LOL).
