If you’ve actually read anything with Deadpool or Deathstroke, you’d know they’re not the same character. Their personalities are polar opposites; they merely started from the same concepts. It's like the people who claim Batman ripped off Shadow or Zorro. Well...no! I don't remember Batman constantly riding horses, shooting guns, and ripping "B" on the backs of his foes with a sword. Conceptually inspired is not the same as ripped off. The heroes that frighten their enemies and use darkness as their cover...well...that's a pretty universal trait! Batman went down his own path eventually and became his own (far more successful) character. In fact, from what I know, the creator of Deadpool never denied the fact that he used Deathstroke as his basis as the whole thing was originally intended as nothing more than a satire spoof. Wade just found an audience.

Wait, there's a Tony account too? And he is following G-Man? Now I'm confused. One of the two (or three?) of us has a bipolar disorder. And i don't think it's me. BTW you should have more time Tony. Especially when the questions are so hard.

I'm not a DC reader but i always heard about people saying hes a rip off. But one thing that surprises me is i never hear the comparison with deadpool and spiderman. That was a big debate when i was a kid ha ha. I always thought deadpool was a rip off of spider-man. I always thought he was thinking when created him: "ok, what if spider-man was bad and used guns and swords." "SOLD!" Thats just how i always saw him.

How can anyone explain anything, let alone comic book characters, in 30 seconds or less?  *sigh*

The same time limit should be applied to anyone while explaining the scenarios and/or"plots" of video games.  Or anime.

is look was a combined hat-tip to Deathstroke and Spider-Man.
Rob said he really, really was into Deathstroke, and had also wanted to draw
Spider-Man more often as well and thats where he based the costume. He
also said at the time he didnt believe the character would even go past his first appearance,
and alot of his traits were set as a parody/joke.
so the look of Deadpool is in fact copied from Deathstroke.
both characters are vastly different outside of that, as Deadpool evolved into something different.
try saying it the otherway around once.
" I think Deathstroke is very much like Deadpool "
    doesnt feel right does it?

Well, Deadpool was intended to be a parody/homage to Deathstroke, so that accounts for most of their physical/professional/name similarities.

That said, they're both great characters with completely different personalities.

I only know him from the teen titans cartoon and from what little ravager talked about him in terror titans.

@MysterioMaximus: Deadpool started out as a clone/shot at Deathstroke, a gruff old man (Kane said he was in his mid to late 40s in X-Force) using weapons/gadgets to take on kids a la teen titans/new mutants. He then was brought back and slightly developed and in his first mini-series he became a lot more manic and did the 'i can be more than a villain' bit.

Waid took it a bit further in the second mini, and Joe Kelly pretty much shaped the classic character before he became the bastardized version Way gives us monthly.

@Son_of_Magnus: They used to have everything in common though since Deadpool was a straight jab at Deathstroke. From how he fights, who he fights, his age, everything.

Eventually he became his own character through Kelly's awesome writing though.

I read all of Deathstrokes old series back in the day, back when he was still officially called Deathstroke the Terminator. He is a bad ass, he is totally professional and takes everything seriously.

But... it was pretty telling that Wintergreen had more interesting things to say than him. I find Deathstroke boring, personality wise. And his motivations/origin is pretty bland and uninteresting too. I mean, his origin is pretty much a rip off of Captain America's... accept he didn't volenteer for a noble cause, he did it because he wanted to be more bad ass.

Deadpool caught my attention thanks to Mark Waid's mini and Joe Kelly's run. The tragic origin and his tortured, self loathing mind. The quirky, snarky, sarcastic personality he uses to cover up the fact that he is actually a manically depressed nut case.

The way i'd describe Deadpool is that he is a mix of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, with a splash of Punisher's ruthlessness, a big dollop of Ben Grimm's insecurity and self loathing and Frankenstein's monster trying to prove he isn't a monster on the inside.
