Deadpool

Deadpool is a comic book character that first appeared in The New Mutants #98

Wade Wilson, better known as Deadpool, is a former subject of the Weapon X and current redemptive mercenary. He's well known as the "Merc with a Mouth" and often breaks the Fourth Wall in his comics.

Created by artist Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, Deadpool made his first appearance in The New Mutants #98 (1991). Deadpool's presence in the comic universe has been recently amplified by his portrayal in the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the 2011 film Deadpool (working title). In both films, Ryan Reynolds plays the "Merc with a Mouth."

Origins of Deadpool

Teen Deadpool with his father

Almost nothing is known for certain about the youth of the man called Wade Wilson, not even if he was born with that name is certain. He remembers a mother who died of cancer when he was five and of a mother who beat him during his teen years, and also of a father who abandoned him and hasn't been seen since childhood and of one that died in a bar room altercation when he was 17. Whatever his past the youth who would become Deadpool grew up to be a violent, conflicted man. He remembers an upbringing in Ohio, but even he recognizes that this may not be true. All of this confusion may be due to the fact that Deadpool is insane, likes to make up stuff, or his healing factor can be to blame because it is constantly regenerating his brain tissue.

Deadpool's Life as an Up-and-Coming Mercenary.

This young man joined and quickly excelled in military service. He was a very competent hand-to-hand fighter, was a naturally incredible marksman and he excelled with firearms. The Military was not for him. His tenure ended when he was kicked out. After serving in the military he realized he was really good at killing so he became a mercenary at a young age and quickly developed a formidable reputation. His mercenary career began with him only accepting assignments whose targets he felt deserved death. His job took him all over the world and eventually he wound up in Japan. While in Japan he was able to hone his hand-to-hand combat skills while he worked as an enforcer for the Yakuza.  He began to fall in love with the Yakuza leader's daughter but his mental instability kept him from getting closer to her, so he fled back to America. He began taking on mercenary work for whoever would pay. His work began to suffer and when he failed a mission he would take on a new identity, sometimes going as far as to undergo drastic plastic surgery. After all the new personas and facial changes, his fractured mind began to forget who he really was. His life took a drastic turn when a husband and wife found him wounded in the woods around their home. The wife, Mercedes, nursed him back to health. As he recovered he began to love Mercedes and the life she shared with her husband, Wade Wilson. He wanted her love and his life so intended on murdering him and becoming him. He attacks Mercedes husband but in the chaos of their conflict he accidentally murders Mercedes. The act of killing Mercedes pushes him over the edge. Now mentally unhinged he believes himself to be Mercedes' husband Wade Winston Wilson. Now going by the name Wade Wilson he of course returns to his mercenary work. Eventually his travels' lead him to meet a beautiful prostitute, Vanessa Carlysle. The young couple quickly fall in love, their pasts tainted with darkness their love and aspirations for a better life.  Unfortunately, Wilson contracted cancer and left Vanessa because he did not want to burden her with his failing health.

Deadpool in the Weapon X Program

Wilson worked for Canada's Department H as a hired gun once he was promised a cure for his cancer. They gave Wilson an experimental healing that was actually derived from the DNA of none other than his future rival/ally/enemy, Wolverine. The experimental healing factor failed, but it left Wade scarred and disfigured. He continued his service but was considered only as a failed experiment. While employed by Department H he worked with operatives like the cyborg Garrison Kane, fellow merc Sluggo and the suspicious family man Greg Teraerton. After spending time with his team he began to see his suspicions about Teraerton were correct. Terraerton was becoming increasingly aggressive and violent, eventually revealing he was completely psychotic. Wade was disgusted by him so he killed his teammate but he eventually returned as Slayback. Of course Wade was eventually kicked out of the program, he was then sent to the Hospice and there he was sent to Dr. Ermys Killbrew "workshop", a place for failed experiments. While in Killibrew's workshop he and other failed experiments were subjected to the Doctors torturous experiments. The many experiments left him inches from death and deeply depressed not even his good friend and cell mate, Worm could comfort him. One day, after being experimented upon, Wade was visited by a hooded woman who comforted him and after multiple visits, he began to love her. The woman visiting him was Death, the couple were able to communicate because Wade was so close to death. Wanting to join Death he began taunting and defying his guards, hoping they would have him killed, his retaliation causes the other patients to admire him and retaliate in their own way. He enjoyed tormenting one guard in particularly, Ajax, Wade really got to him by making fun of his real name, Francis. Ajax gladly sent him in for more of Killibrew's excruciating tests but to make matters worse he also became a star of a cruel game played by the guards. The guards would bet on when patients would die, this game was known as "The Dead Pool."  To Ajax and Wades dismay Wade kept surviving but Ajax could not kill a "patient" unless they kill a fellow patient. Ajax being a cruel, evil man had Wades friend Worm involuntarily lobotomized. After seeing Worm lobotomized, Wade became upset and decided to kill him out of mercy. Ajax had planned on Wade doing what he did so he finally got to kill him. Surprisingly the shock of his death triggered Wade's healing factor. His regeneration leads him to free his fellow patients and they fight their way to freedom. Wade decides to reinvent himself and he does so by becoming the mercenary Deadpool.

Life as Deadpool

It was obvious that Wades healing factor was flawed but even more than anyone thought. His brain was constantly regenerating which actually contributed to his extreme lunacy. As a costumed mercenary, Deadpool frequented the horrific hangout called Hell House, where he received assignments. He took jobs for anyone willing to pay, even for villains like Doctor Druid. Some of his more notable clients were Hammerhead and the crime boss The Kingpin. He eventually settled into an unsteady relationship with his new employer the mysterious Tolliver . He also employed Wades old flame Vanessa, now known as the shape shifting Copycat. Deadpool's weapon supplier and best friend, Weasel, was also a part of Tolliver's circle. Eventually Tolliver sent Deadpool to kill Cable , another super powered mercenary and secretly Tolliver's father. At the time Cable was acting mentor for Charles Xavier's New Mutants, so Deadpool bursts into the Xavier Institute, ready to rumble. This plan doesn't work because of the helpful and lucky hand of Domino. With the help of Domino, Cable defeats Deadpool and mails him back to Tollvier. This was an insult that Deadpool wouldn't soon live down. Deadpool could little imagine how important Cable and his cohorts would later become in his life.

Deadpool's life changed quickly when Cable changed the New Mutants into X-Force: Copycat went underground, his department K crony Kane hunted both Deadpool and Cable for the Canadian government. While working for Tolliver, Deadpool faced off against people like Nomad, Silver Sable and her Wild Pack, and Cable's X-Force on several occasions. Once Tolliver was slain, a revived Slayback sought vengeance. Later, a dying Black Tom sent his men to hunt down Deadpool for his regenerative abilities. Banshee and Siryn tried to use Deadpool to hunt down Black Tom. In the chaos, however, Deadpool found tranquility in the friendship of Siryn, and from X-Force.

Deadpool eventually returned to Japan for a vacation. He met up with his old flame and her father who let him in on a secret. Deadpool was like a son to him and if he had not run away he would be have been the inheritor of the gang's estate. He eventually met a mini version of himself. It was a clone named Widdle Wade. This clone had all his abilities but not his disfigured look. Widdle Wade insistently battled Deadpool until he was impaled on the latter's blade. Deadpool then returned home. There Deadpool would go on to be hired for several teams like The Secret Defenders and The Heroes For Hire, performing random acts of heroism. He was even forced to fight in the Contest of Champions II, an alien gladiatorial tournament for heroes, against Daredevil. It was a hardy fight but in the end Deadpool set up a decoy baby to distract Daredevil. As Daredevil turned his attention to saving the innocent child he found out it was a bomb and it blew up in his face, knocking him out of the contest. It was about this time he thought maybe he could make being a hero work.

The Heroic Destiny of Deadpool Through Landau, Luckman, and Lake

Deadpool's life settled back to normal, or as close to normal as he could ever be. Eventually Zoe Culloden of the Mysterious firm Landau, Luckman and Lake felt Deadpool was meant for more then just mercenary misadventures. Zoe claimed that a heroic destiny awaited the dubious Deadpool.  Zoe deviced a plan to test Deadpool which was an assignment on an research facility located on Antartica.

The job consisted of blowing up the facility. During the mission, Deadpool got pitted against Sasquatch who tried to stop Wade however he couldn't. Sasquatch then explained to Wade that the gamma reactor was meant to absorb gamma radiation from the atmosphere and once this blowed up it would cause a global disaster. Deadpool then decide's to correct the mistake and stops the Gamma core from overloading thus saving the day.

Later on he went to meet he's employers of L,L and L. Deadpool was really upset about this however Zoe then explained that it was a test to see if Deadpool was really the Prophetisized hero and offered him a job in L,L and L. However Deadpool refused it. He was sure that, although he has claimed many names, "hero" would never be one of them.

Shortly Deadpool goes in search of his friend Weasel who had gone missing and his whereabouts led to The Taskmaster. Once he arrived at Taskmasters place, he found Weasel which told him that he was a guest of the Taskmaster and he had been offered a very well payed job. The Taskmaster had defeated Deadpool previously so now the Taskmaster decided on a rematch in order to show off in front of his Ninja students and persuade Weasel to accept the Job. The TaskMaster cut a finger from Deadpool's hand but he was defeated by Deadpool due to his wacky movements where no match for him.

Now done with Taskmaster,  both of them went to the hellhouse for some relaxation however Deadpool couldn't re-grow his missing finger. Suddenly a package arrived which contained he's old glove that had once been in the hand that belonged now to Black Tom Cassidy.

He then teamed up again with Siryn from x-force and they went in search of his uncle, only to find Dr Killerbrew instead. Dr Killerbrew found out that Deadpool's healing factor was failing and the only way to restore it to its former level would be with a little bit of the Hulk's blood, due to Wade having recently been  near gamma radiation.

After battling the Hulk and acquiring the blood sample, Dr Killerbrew is able to restore Deadpool's healing factor. However now Deadpool wanted payback for what he had suffered on the Weapon X Workshop. Siryn stopped him from doing so, and became some sort of a guardian angel for Wade. Deadpool then told Killerbrew that this woman had saved he's life but if he found out that he was on he's old habits then he was a dead man.
     Maybe someday...
Maybe someday...

Later on Deadpool took Siryn back to the x-force HQ and asks her if there could be any chance to get this kind of relationship somewhere. She tells him that if he keeps going through the path she thinks Wade is on right now then maybe.

Deadpool tooks this somewhat as a sign and as a motivation to become better than just a mercenary. He tried to help Typhoid Mary just as Siryn had helped him, however she seemed to be more than what he could handle.

He grew less and less sure of what Zoe's offer meant so he discussed his doubts with Blind Al, an elderly woman whom he inexplicably held hostage and became close to. He sharpened his wits in repeat matches of pranks and satirical jabs. At this time Deadpool really made the leap to the title of "Hero" by accepting "pro-bono" jobs, he was not too fond of the "no money" part but he did like the "feel good afterward" part.

After a series of devastating yet character building crossroads, Deadpool took Zoe up on her offer, learning she wanted him to take the role of "Mithras" to protect the alien peace bringing messiah, by killing it's enemy Tiamat. Discouraged by the idea that killing was all that he was good for, Deadpool defeated Tiamat. His insanity showed to him what everyone else did not: that the alien messiah did not bring peace, but mindless bliss. During this time, the director of L.L. L. lost faith in Deadpool and Zoe and recruited the true Mithras, Captain America . Deadpool then had to overcome the brainwashed Captain America  to achieve his destiny. He overcame Cap with a trick game of Rochambeau, which led to a kick to Captain Americas gentleman parts. Deadpool then, ironically saved the world from peaceful drone like life by killing the alien messiah. After saving the world he still wondered what was it he is meant to do in life.

Deadpool's Return Home

An already troubled Deadpool was stunned when "his wife" Mercedes Wilson repeatedly appeared in his hallucinations. He eventually committed himself to an insane asylum run by Dr. Bong. He was able get his delusions under control,  but much to he was shocked to see that Mercedes Wilson had risen from the grave and returned to him. Wade hoped to find redemption in her arms, however, fellow mercenary and sorcerer known as T-Ray sought to prevent his happiness. T-Ray revealed that Deadpool could never find happiness with Mercedes as her husband because T-Ray was actually her husband. T-Ray happened to be the man that Deadpool had left for dead long ago. Overwhelmed Deadpool still refused to break down or be defeated by T-Ray . The two shared an intense battle while T-Ray repeatedly warped reality in order to disorient Deadpool with things from his past. He even forced Wade to come face to face with everyone he had ever killed. Mercedes then left Deadpool and vowed vengeance for him killing her, but surprised T-Ray with her request to never see him again because she was disgusted that he would use her to get his revenge.

Deadpool's adventures continued, setting him against super heroes, super villains, werewolves, aliens, killer insects, and more. The god Loki even tried to convince Deadpool that they were father and son, which seemed as believable as anything else that had happened in Deadpool's life. Loki was just up to his usual tricks though as Deadpool was just a pawn in one of Loki's schemes to destroy his half -brother Thor . Thor and Deadpool had an altercation and Deadpool obtained Thor's mystic uru hammer " Mjolnir," but it was actually a fake made by Loki, which transformed him into an Asgardian god-like version of himself. Deadpool soon figured out that Loki was tricking him and so Deadpool teamed up with Thor to defeat Loki. Because of this, Loki cursed Deadpool with the good looks of actor Thom Cruz. Until Deadpool found his real father he wouldn't be able to be rid of it. Though Deadpool didn't like his disfigured look he was used to it. This new look infuriated him. He moved in with two super villains, The Constrictor and Titania . There he picked up a lot of not so ethically sound work. He was hired to assassinate Gambit but was bought off by the Ragin' Cajun himself. Unfortunately Deadpool tore up the check being misinformed that Gambit had lost all his money. He eventually went up against the Avengers and was arrested. After he and his roommates were released Titania revealed herself to actually be Deadpool's old flame, Copycat. Deadpool then told her that he knew all along. They would soon re-kindle their relationship. Copycat would become very possessive, getting jealous of any other woman in Deadpool's life.

While on assignment Deadpool was violently greeted by Sabretooth. He offered Deadpool an invitation to work for the recently resurrected  Weapon X program formerly centered in Canada now run by the U.S government. His past experience with the Weapon X left him hesitant at first but "The Director" Malcolm Colcord offered him a way to repair his disfigurements and enhance his abilities he was nearly sold on the idea. After leaving with his looks restored he became torn between the idea of joining or running, but he soon his disfigurements returned and realized that he only received a taste of Colcords enhancements. He soon returned to the facility to join the new Weapon X team consisting of Sabretooth, Maverick, now known as Agent Zero, Garrison Kane and some other new agents.

Deadpool butted heads with his confederates Kane and Sabertooth fairly often and did not trust Malcolm, or his right hand man Agent Brent Jackson. Eventually after several missions Wade began realizing this team was not for him, he was disgusted by multiple members' blood lust, lack of honor and little restraint. Eventually Deadpool and Kane were sent to eliminate a dangerous mutant but the mutant turned out to be a child who had no control over his powers. Deadpool refused to kill the child going as far as protecting him from the heartless Kane.  Deadpool was furious when Kane killed the mutant child. Deadpool finally rejected the Weapon X program when he attacked Kane and battled him through the city. Malcolm already had Copycat targeted for elimination in order to control or enrage Deadpool. Sabertooth was sent to take out Copycat and he planned on taking great joy in slowly torturing and savagely killing her. Deadpool learned of this and armed himself, heavily of course, for a brutal confrontation with Weapon X.
     A Dying Copycat
A Dying Copycat
Deadpool attempted to save Copycat but he was too late. He held Copycat in her final moments, admitting their eternal love for one another. He then went to the facility to avenge Vanessa and kill his betrayers. Deadpool fought  through the Weapon X facility and finally confronted the director and Sabertooth. To his dismay he began to liquefy until all that was left of him was his hand. His hand was sent to Wolverine.

Deadpool's funeral soon followed his death by corrupt Weapon X enhancement . Many of Deadpool's friends and even his enemies came to mourn him. One of the most heart-broken mourner's was Siryn, soon Deadpool played a prank on his buddy Weasel by possessing him even Bullseye paid his "respect" by tossing an ace onto Deadpools' hand in the casket. Of course Sabertooth and his Weapon X crew enticed a fight that engulfed every mourner. After the funeral T-ray showed up and pissed on Deadpool's grave, this was part of his and Thanos's ploy to revive Deadpool. Days later Deadpool was found stricken with amnesia while he struggled to regain his memories, four mysterious men, also calling themselves “Deadpool”, burst on the scene in various ways. One being a heroic and pure Superman archetype, another being a gun totting Punisher-esque vigilante, an absurd Mtv, Tom Green, pop culture heavy TV host character and the final being an insane(even for Deadpool standards) criminal that only said, "No pickles" over and over. He eventually learned character an aspect of his personality created by T-Ray that was using a device from Thanos as his agent. Their inevitable confrontation ended revealing four more aspects, his inner child, feminine side, inner geek and his stand up comedian side. The battle ended when all of the Deadpool aspects were absorbed into T-Rays mind leaving him a drooling fool to be taken in for naughty purposes by Blind Al.

Black Swan and Agent X

Deadpool being the excellent mercenary he is opens his own merc' for hire company, Deadpool Inc. One of his assignments sends him to Japan to eliminate one of the "Four Winds," the Four Winds being leaders of four factions of the Yakuza gang. While taking aim above a meeting of all four he crashes through and while falling down he miraculously takes out all four, so he thinks, he boasts about his incredible accomplishment gets him a lot of business and admiration from other mercenaries, except one. His new good luck leads causes his popularity to soar and his wallet to fill but his luck soon turns around.

     Black Swan
Black Swan

Eventually Deadpool is targeted by a mercenary known as the Black Swan.. Black Swan initially has Deadpool beaten and broken for a then unknown reason. Soon after Sandi Brandenberger Deadpool Inc. secretary, discovers a badly beaten Deadpool she realizes she must reset his broken bones. Once Deadpool heals he realizes something has happened to him, his memory begins to fail and his impeccable aim is gone. He eventually discovers what has happened to him and who the Black Swan is. Taskmaster tells him about a mission he was on with two partners and one happened to be the Black Swan. While on the mission he witnesses the Black Swan devastating psionic powers. What he did to Deadpool was implant a degenerative "virus" into his brain. Deadpool while visited Sandi in the hospital  he was spied on by Nijo, an associate of Black Swan. Nijo has a strict code of honor and wants to kill Deadpool for killing his brother, one of the four winds. As Deadpools mind deteriorates he and a babbling crazed Deadpool Inc. employee he named "Ratbag" they parachute into Black Swans mansion estate and Deadpool fights his army of security personnel. Deadpools fight takes him inside where he is confronted by Nijo and the Black Swan. There Black Swan betrays Nijo and stabs him because he is annoyed by Nijos honorable ways and he reveals to him what truly happened to the Four Winds. While Deadpool fell the Black Swan shot the Four Winds, he was furious Deadpool took credit for what was supposed to be his greatest and final assignment. Deadpool actually only shot a fruit tray and a butter dish. Deadpool and Black Swan engage in a vicious sword duel but due to Deadpools degenerating mind his fighting skill have deteriorated. Black Swan gains the upper hand by chopping off Deadpools arm but he had actually brought a bomb to ensure he defeated the Black Swan. In order to save his life and his mansion he offers to cure his mind if he defuses the bomb. Deadpool has the Black Swan repair Ratbags' fractured mind first, Ratbag thanks Deadpool and flees Deadpool then hysterically laughing. Black Swan demands he defuse the bomb but Deadpool cannot because the defusing code is on the hand of his missing arm. The bomb then detonates, seemingly killing the two.

Soon after Deadpool's death an amnesiac homeless man finds Deadpool Inc. secretary Sandi Brandenberg. The man would eventually be known as Alex Hayden better known as  Agent X.  He is suspected to be an amnesiac Deadpool because he acts so much like him, has a healing factor and is an incredible marksman. He quickly becomes an impressive mercenary but he is eventually confronted by none other than Deadpool and the Black Swan. Deadpool is a simple shell of his former self, his mind has been wiped clean and the Black Swan has also acquired a healing factor. Surprisingly a bullet to the head kick starts the regeneration of Deadpools mind. It is then explained that the explosion caused the three to share minds and take one another traits and abilities. Alex received Deadpools healing factor, personality, some degree of the Black Swans psionic abilities, his refined tastes (Alex Hayden is an amalgam of his two favorite composers) and both of their fighting and marksman skills. The Black Swan gained some traits he did not want like Nijos honor and stated: "You and Wilson have my skills, Mr. Hayden. In return, I received a taste for Radiohead and an encyclopedic knowledge of pornographic knock knock jokes. Yes, I'd like to switch back if possible." So Black Swan proposes a three way mind meld in order to restore each others memories. Black Swan attempted to betray the others once the process complete, he attempted to kill both Agent X and Deadpool but he failed. While focusing on Alex/Nijo Deadpool stabbed him then Alex's Agency X associates, Outlaw and Taskmaster, joined the fight. Their combined efforts were enough to defeat the Black Swan but to ensure his healing factor would not heal him the team has him stuffed. After that ordeal Agent X and Deadpool became good friends.

Deadpool was enticed by a mysterious woman for a job in exchange for the location of his ex-wife. He was to work alongside Bullseye, Vulture, Juggernaut, Sandman, and (much to his dismay) Sabretooth. They were to steal the Identity disc, a disc that contains the secret identities of all of the world's heroes and villains. Unfortunately they were discovered by A.I.M. agents during their infiltration into A.I.M. HQ, Deadpool separated from the rest of the group to draw off the assaulting A.I.M. agents.

Deadpool's Destiny and Team-Up with Cable

     Cable and Deadpool. Now buddies
Cable and Deadpool. Now buddies
When an employer known as the "One World Church" hired Deadpool to steal a virus that could re-shape people's appearances, he had no idea that he would again find himself battling Cable. The One World Church wanted Deadpool to steal the Facade virus from a pharmaceutical company in Europe, but Cable caught wind and was trying to stop the One World Church. The One World Church wanted to use the appearance-altering Facade virus to turn everyone on Earth blue so that there would be no more racism, however the virus wasn't finished and it had the side-effect of causing cellular breakdown... literally causing people to turn into goop.

Deadpool makes it to the facility, but is greeted by Cable who telekinetically blows Deadpool's head up and leaves with the virus. However, Cable has to track down three punks who stole the virus and are posing as celebrities. He is unable to save two of them, but he is able to save the third by extracting the virus from her cells, which leaves Cable exhausted; Deadpool then shows up and shoots Cable. Deadpool returns to the One World Church with the virus. Deadpool also joins the One World Church to restore his appearance and is the first test subject for the process. Cable shows up and talks with the Prime Minister, who injects Cable with the virus which cancels Cable's powers, causing his techno-organic virus to go out of control... but worst still, the Prime Minister has Deadpool attack Cable. The two fight, but it becomes apparent that Deadpool's healing factor is having a hard time fighting off the Facade virus which is trying to cancel out his powers as well. After a rough fight, Cable is at Deadpool's mercy and tries to convince Deadpool that what the Church is doing is wrong, but Deadpool doesn't have time to make up his mind before his body starts slowly turning to goop. Cable's answer to their problem is exchanging bodily fluids. Deadpool uncomfortably agrees, and Cable strains to use his telekinesis to swallow Deadpool whole and then puke him out. Free of the Facade virus, Deadpool's healing factor kicks into high gear as he's almost instantaneously returned to normal. And as a bonus, Cable and Deadpool now can body-slide (or teleport) together.

Deadpool is hired by an unknown employer to steal an item, but is beaten to it by the Cat. Deadpool then hunts down the Cat and negotiates for the item with the life of a bystander, the Cat gives in and Deadpool body-slides away, but brings Cable with him, but Cable then leaves. Deadpool is hired again to steal another device, but is knocked out by the Cat, who is stopped by the X-Men. The X-Men bring Deadpool back with them. The X-Men reveal that they are the ones that hired Deadpool to steal those devices and that they're able to stop Cable. When Deadpool wakes up, he finds himself in his own X-uniform, which startled Deadpool. It was revealed that Wolverine and Beast had a bet, Beast wagering that Deadpool would assume that he's an X-Man. Since Deadpool can teleport into Cable's island whenever he wants Wolverine wants to use him, but the others don't trust Deadpool. Emma Frost uses Cerebro to block Cable from eavesdropping on them telepathically, but Deadpool says that he's immune to telepathy and they can talk in his head... confusing some of them at first but proves effective. During this time, Nick Fury was having a discussion with several world leaders discussing the threat that Cable poses. Cable then body-slides in the meeting along with Deadpool, threatens that he's going to destroy their nuclear weapons and then leaves, prompting the X-Men into action. Before the mission, Deadpool demands a different X-uniform... Marvel Girl's, but he decides half-way to Cable's island that he'll just wear the one they gave him.

Deadpool as a temporary member of the X-men (sort of).
The X-Men go in, but Deadpool betrays them by shooting his teammates, Bishop and Wolverine, in the back and tells Cable the X-Men's plans. Cable sends the Six Pack to fight the X-Men and asks if Deadpool believes in him.  Deadpool tries to deny that he believes in him but it's obvious that he does and so Cable becomes
very happy, but said that he wanted the X-Men to succeed because his real goal was to bring the world together against a common enemy. Silver Surfer shows up and starts fighting with Cable, meanwhile Cable's floating island starts to fall towards the ocean. Cable tries to hold the island up with his telekinesis, but Silver Surfer is pushing Cable to his limit. Deadpool decides to use the device the X-Men were having him steal to help Cable after Silver Surfer defeated him. The device allowed Cable to use the last of his mind powers to safely lower the island into the ocean and momentarily link all the minds in the world together so he could feel what everyone else felt. This device however left Cable comatose. Deadpool was left being blamed for Cable's "death," leaving Deadpool to try and find a way to "snap" Cable out of it. Deadpool comes up with a plan and then first locates M.O.D.O.K. and gets a Phalanx embryo, he then locates the Fixer for his technical know-how. Things won't go as easy as he might have thought as  Agent-X was hired to stop Deadpool from saving Cable. Deadpool defeats Agent-X and spells "Hi Weasel" with Agent-X's intestines, as he knew Weasel would look. Fixer merges the alien embryo with Cable and Cable tries to gain control over it after some words from Domino, but Agent-X showed back up to fight Deadpool again... but later decides to give up his mission if Deadpool returns his pancreas, which Deadpool previously took as a souvenir. Deadpool insisted that Agent-X grew a new one so why would he want his old pancreas back, but Agent-X said he wanted it back because it belonged to him. Cable then thanks Deadpool and asks if Deadpool used his own money to save him, but Deadpool said that he was thinking about robbing a bank or something.
     Providence
Providence

Deadpool finds a second home on Cable's floating island known as Providence. A murder of a known terrorist on the island prompts an immediate investigation which Deadpool tries to solve, but he's sent on a wild  goose chase by Irene Merryweather. Deadpool gets bored and holds people on the island at gun point to try and get answers, but is escorted back to Irene by Prestor John. At the crime scene it's revealed that Deadpool is the one that killed the terrorist, but has no memory of it. Deadpool begins to run from

the islands authorities and is pursued by Prestor John. Irene asks Cable for help, but he says he wants to give Deadpool the chance to do the right thing. A big fight breaks out between Deadpool and Prestor John, but Cable stops it. Cable and Deadpool go for a walk and Cable asks why Deadpool killed the former terrorist, but Deadpool doesn't know why. It's noted that Moira McTaggert said that Deadpool will always be insane as long as he has his healing factor, but if he loses his healing factor he'll die. Cable offers to find a way to help Deadpool, but Deadpool has to leave the island.

Deadpool is brainwashed by Black Box and Deadpool heads off to attempt to kill Cable but instead ends up having a brief fight with Prestor John which is stopped by Cannonball and Siryn. It turns out that Cable was transported to another dimension during a fight with Skornn and they need Deadpool's help to retrieve him. The three first arrive on a world in this other dimension where Apocalypse wasn't stopped. They fight and defeat 3 of Apocalypse's Horsemen but are encountered by the 4th... that dimension's Cable. Knowing this isn't "their" Cable, they teleport away. They then find themselves in a world that Cable turned into a paradise, knowing no war or pain and Deadpool's weapon is destroyed, Deadpool then teleports away. Deadpool then finds himself faced with a Cable that was overcome by his techno-organic virus, and in the fight tries to infect them, but Deadpool overcomes the virus and they teleport away. The three next find themselves on Mr. Sinsiter's farm with a baby Cable. Mr. Sinister reveals that they are in the House of M universe and invites them to dinner to explain everything H e goes on to explain that he intends to use Cable to save the world after Magneto dies. At dinner with Mr. Sinister, Cannonball and Siryn don't eat, but Deadpool does... It turns out that the food was drugged. Mr.  Sinister reveals his amazement of Deadpool's resistance to the drugs and so they begin to distrust Mr. Sinister, but he defends himself by saying that he only wanted to study them.

Siryn and Cannonball leave using Mr. Sinister's machines to explore this world. Mr. Sinister reveals that he knows they want to take Cable away from him and that he intends to use Deadpool to accelerate Cable's growth to adulthood. This process however causes Cable's telekinetic powers go haywire, Deadpool and Mr. Sinister fight while Deadpool repeatedly tries to teleport away with Cable but can't. At that moment House of M returns to normal, forcing Deadpool, Cable, Siryn, and Cannonball back to their own reality. Deadpool now tries to carry out his mission to kill Cable, shocking everyone. They then realize that Deadpool was brainwashed and try to stop him, but he shoots himself in the head and gets rid of the brainwashing in that way. Cable's body is rapidly returning to it's proper age and he burns out his waning telepathic powers trying to fix Deadpool's mind. It apparently works, and Deadpool decides to take Cable to a bar for his imminent 21st birthday. At the bar, Cable tries to order a drink but the waitress says he's too young. There the two of them share some of their life stories with each other. Before they leave, Cable surprises the waitress by seemingly being much older.

Deadpool During the  Civil War

During the "Civil War" Deadpool and Cable parted over differences regarding the Super-Human Registration Act and it's effects on the future. Trying to put his new found idealism behind him, Deadpool joined the government sanctioned Six-pack to discredit Cable but instead inadvertently improved Cable's status in the eyes of the rest of the world. Eventually however, Deadpool is rejected from the Initiative for being too unpredictable.

Unfortunately, Cable's dream reached an apparent end when Providence sank. While the world thought Cable was dead, Deadpool traveled the world working with several heroes to fill the void. Regardless of any regrets over what might have been, Deadpool is now a full time mercenary, joining Weasel and other friends at Agency X. Deadpool is currently filling in for Agent-X because of health complications ( Hydra turned Agent-X into a fat bastard!).
During Deadpool's team-up with Cable it is revealed that Deadpool vehemently hates clowns.

Deadpool Versus the Marvel Universe

After going to a memorial statue for Cable to meet Cyclops, Deadpool goes to a Hydra base to save Weasel because Wolverine has gone there and intends to kill everyone there. During the battle Wolverine cut his (Deadpools) head off, but Bob put it back on so he could regenerate. Weasel sabotages the Hydra teleportation device, but before they leave they are caught by the device malfunctioning and are sent back in time to WWII Germany. There they meet Captain America and Bucky Barnes who, as it turns out, was very scrappy and foul mouthed. However, they can't keep track of who they are due to temporal hiccups. The group then goes off to fight Doctor Zola and his own Frankenstein Monster. Sadly while Deadpool and company they are still trapped in the past, Weasel (in the present)  gets the Fantastic Four to let him use their time machine, telling them how bad Deadpool and Bob are being in the past. Weasel uses the machine Deadpool iand the rest are using to attempt to bring them back to the present, but they instead arrive at the Baxter Building in an earlier time. The earlier team agrees to send Deadpool home, but instead ended up going further into the time-stream until the past and future teams help them. After that being kicked of out the Baxter Building (Sandi and Outlaw were told they could stay for poker).

When Deadpool goes back to Agency X, Doctor Strange was there and proceeded to say to him that he needed to fix a problem in the multiverse that he had caused. He was told he needed to find T-Rays body. T-Ray had been traveling through the realms trying to escape through a mystical burrow right before his death. Deadpool has to find his T-Rays life essence that was lost in each realm in order to bring him back to life. After collecting all of T-Rays life essence Deadpool then goes to the Louisiana swamps to meet up with Brother Voodoo in order to have him put T-Rays soul back into his body. After a short fight they parted ways due to both needing to be kept alive.

Irene Merryweather later contracts Deadpool to retrieve an "electro-polarity reconfiguration engine" located in the Savage Land that was left by Magneto so as to power Rumekistan now that Cable was dead. The engine is supposed to help the Rumekistan economy to keep it from going to shambles again. They are attacked by a mind-controlled Ka-Zar , but later free him. Deadpool, Weasel and Bob discover Brain-Child is in control. Deadpool breaks in and finds the "reconfigurator" and Weasel and Bob teleport to him. They are then attacked by an army of dinosaurs Brainchild sent after them. Deadpool uses Weasel’s pene-traitor technology to send the dinosaurs to Genosha. Deadpool shoots down Brainchild's escaped dinosaur and Ka-zar lets him keep the “reconfigurator”. Weasel then pointed out that Deadpool didn’t send the dinosaurs to Genosha, he sent them to the Genosha embassy in New York where they release the Venom Symbiote causing an army of Venomsaurs to run loose in Manhattan.
After finding out about Deadpool's mistake they quickly teleport back to Manhattan, only to find that the dinosaurs he sent there have combined with the Venom symbiote. This was the result of the Avengers and the Fantastic Four transporting the symbiote to the Baxter Building after Doctor Doom had used them as a biological attack. Deadpool starts fighting the Venomsaurs while Weasel and Bob hide. Deadpool is soon joined by Spider-Man.. Spider-Man thinks this is all somehow Deadpool's fault. Deadpool then asks spiderman how to keep these things from coming back and Spiderman tells him to use sonics and fire, Deadpool adds lobotomizing them to the list as well. Spider-Man then leaves Deadpool to try to find out what happened. Deadpool then tries to stop the hordes of Venomsaurs with Bob while Weasel tries to reverse the teleporter polarity. Bob then gets his leg caught on a Venomsaur and Deadpool says good work. Meanwhile at Agency X, Outlaw and Sandi are about to fight the attack while Alex is trying to cash in on the attack. Outlaw gets fed up and says that he should be more like Wade and do things for good instead of trying to cash in on it. Afterwards Deadpool is hanging on to a Venomsaur and Irene Merryweather sees him and yells. The Venomsaur stops and starts to head for her but Deadpool jumps in the way blocking the attacks.

The Venomsaur then picks Deadpool up and is about to eat him when Ms. Marvel and Wonder Man stop it. Ms. Marvel then blames the Venomsaurs on Deadpool but Deadpool says he had nothing to do with the symbiotes and blames that on Ms. Marvel. Then Ms. Marvel and Wonder Man take Irene and Deadpool up to where the Fantastic Four are fighting. Johnny Storm (the Human Torch) gets hit with poison from a Pteranadon Venomsaur and Reed catches him while Deadpool heroically jumps on to the Pteranadons  back, stabs it in the head, and surfs on it towards the ground. Deadpool then lands in a battle between some Venomsaurs and the remaining Avengers. While this is all happening Alex tries to become a hero again by using his robust size to fight the Venomsaurs like Outlaw said he should. He ends up saving Sandi and Outlaw in the process. Meanwhile, Bob is getting carried away by a Venomsaur and it slams into an electronic setup which lands on the Venomsaur, electrocuting it. The news cameras catch Bob and the electrocuted Venomsaur on TV, he then gets a text from his wife saying 'call me'. Deadpool is still fighting alongside the Avengers and the Thing. He is really doing well in their presence but eventually gets thrown into an alley. In the alley Deadpool finds Cable's scimitar with a note saying he could use this and that it was sent from the future. The scimitar destroys the symbiote but not the dinosaur. Deadpool then hops back into the action and saves Wonder Man. Deadpool then gets grabbed by a Venomsaur and it tries to bond with him. It almost succeeds but Deadpool ultimately resists at the last second and stabs himself in the head. This causes him to be knocked out. He wakes to find that Weasel and Mr. Fantastic found a solution to the problem and is thanked by the Avengers and is invited to poker night with Ben Grimm. Later that day, Deadpool is flipping through the T.V. channels, getting recognition for his display of heroism while his friends come in to watch T.V. with him.

Deadpool Versus Wolverine

     Deadpool vs. Wolverine
Deadpool vs. Wolverine
Deadpool was hired by an unknown party to kill Wolverine. Deadpool and Wolverine fight and after being wounded Deadpool escapes by gagging the paramedics and stealing their ambulance. He later lets them go, but one of them, showing concern for Deadpools scared face, allows Wolverine to catch up. He speeds off in the ambulance with Wolverine on the roof. He then slams on the breaks causing Wolverine to fall towards the pavement. A piano then falls from a crane on top of Wolverine. Wolverine gets back up and begins to run after Deadpool. Deadpool slams a glass door on Wolverine's hand as Wolverine enters a diner in which Deadpool had run into. While Wolverine handles an angry diner worker, Deadpool steals a knife and runs outside. Wolverine soon follows and thinks Deadpool is challenging him to a knife fight. Then Wolverine sees Deadpool on a roof and Deadpool shoots Wolverine while he's still down on the street. Deadpool then jumps off the roof with an A.I.M weapon. Wolverine tackles him and Deadpool activates the weapon which loops around Wolverine's leg and drags him through the city traffic. Deadpool takes this chance to go to his apartment where he buzzes his neighbor and asks him to let him in because he got mugged. He uses his fake name, Denny, to help get into the apartment where he dons a new costume and weapons. Deadpool searches for Wolverine and finds him. Deadpool dodges a series of attacks from Wolverine and finally realizes that he is in berserker mode. After dodging several more attacks from Wolverine, while getting a few shots in himself, Deadpool finds that his trigger fingers were cut off during the scuffle. Since he can't use any guns, he proceeds to his 'objective point gamma' to refill on weapons only to realize the all are guns. He decides to use a rocket launcher and fires at Wolverine who dodges the rocket, but the explosion blows up several cars. They continue fighting and Wolverine has the upper hand when a paid actor gets Wolverine to check a car where a bomb actually is. The bomb explodes right in front of  Wolverine, but he recovers and gets back up for Wilson. They both fight evenly and end up "killing" one another, leaning on each other.
A race of healing factors ensues and Deadpool's wins. He takes Wolverine over to a hideout he bought and hangs Wolverine up over a pool with his legs and arms tied with chains. Wolverine wakes up and Deadpool talks of why he took this job and how he did it to psych out Wolverine. Wolverine then says Deadpool's not crazy and that he just loves the sound of his own voice. Deadpool has a flashback of himself as a child and his dad mistreating him. He comes out of his flashback and they continue to counter each other. Deadpool flashes back again and his Dad calls him a baby after his Mother's funeral. Deadpool then takes a bottle and smashes it in his Dad's face, then suddenly snaps out of the flashback and retorts back, 'Who's the baby now?'. Deadpool calls Wolverine a hypocrite for telling him that no one likes him. Wolverine now has a flashback and sees all the wrong things he's done. He snaps out of it to Deadpool telling him that he, Wolverine, is lucky because the X-Men will take him in. While Deadpool and Wolverine were talking back and forth, Wolverine's son appears in the doorway. Daken attacks Deadpool and cuts off his hand. Daken then pushes the lever for Wolverine to fall into the pool. Deadpool gets angry at this and tries to fight Daken. After Daken dodges a couple of bullets a fight between the two ensues which causes Daken to kick grenades into the pool, freeing Wolverine. Deadpool then goes hand to hand with Daken once again only to be gutted in his stomach knocking him out. While knocked out Bucky shoots Daken from behind and Wolverine starts to leave carrying his son. On the way out Wolverine tells Deadpool that Bucky hired Deadpool to kill Wolverine so that Daken would come out of hiding. He also said that if Wade came after him again he'd kill him. Deadpool replied saying bring it on punk.

A recent adventure found Deadpool on an assassination job.  While on the job and on the verge of killing the victim his phone rang waking the victim who then alerted his ninja guards.  Deadpool angrily answered the phone and talked to Weasel while killing the ninja guards.  After he finished off the attackers he killed the target and asked Weasel what he wanted only to find that the target would be worth more alive.

Secret Invasion of the Skrulls

     Deadpool vs. Skrulls
Deadpool vs. Skrulls
The Skrulls have infiltrated the Earth causing havoc with it's residents.  When a ship of the Skrull armada arrived at a Mets ballgame, they arrived only to be fooled by their mascot, the Merc-with-a-Mouth, Deadpool.  He trapped the Skrulls on the field, then took out several Skrulls, as well as their their ship, with a bundle of TNT. The remaining Skrulls captured him. A Skrull scientist then extracted Deadpools healing factor, infusing it into test tube baby Skrulls. Afterward, Deadpool offered his Skrull captors a deal. His deal offer was for him to train the new Skrulls bearing his partial DNA, reasoning that only his DNA was replicated, not his style which made him a little short of invincible. However, after training a slew of "next  generation" Skrulls to act as he would in any given situation, chaos exploded on the Skrull ship. The Deadpool Skrulls attacked everyone onboard, with no regard for who they were. The Skrull scientist who originally came to Deadpool's aide immediately called for Deadpool, but Deadpools nowhere to be found. He was later seen in an earthling communication room, talking to the now renegade Nick Fury, bragging about how he brought down a Skrull ship.  Nick Fury then tells Deadpool that a Super Skrull was right behind him, so Deadpool led the Super Skrull into several traps in which the super Skrull becomes frozen. Deadpool then becomes cornered by the lead Skrull scientist and the Deadpool Skrulls. The Deadpool Skrulls suddenly start to deform due to the fact that they do not have cancer to keep their healing factors in check and eventually bust.  Deadpool then kills the lead scientist and returned to the communication room.  Deadpool then sends the information that he retrieved from his mission to Nick Fury.  Nick Fury says the information does not show up due to Norman Osborn secretly capturing the data, which contained information on how to kill the Skrull Queen.

Dark Reign

After his Skrull mission, Deadpool was left with no money.  To solve this problem, he went to an old friend named Zeke for a mercenary job.  The job consisted of rescuing Zeke's wife from the clutches of a plastic surgeon who turned his patients into zombies.  When he got to Eastern Europe he was gunned down from behind by the local cops because they thought he was a zombie.  When Wade awoke, he found himself in a cell with other zombies. He escaped the cell along with fellow mercs only for Wade to kill them because they had killed the cops when it was unnecessary.  He eventually found the castle where the surgeon worked and was greeted by a minion who gave him a bottle of water while he waited to be let in.  When Wade drank it he found it was poisoned and became unconscious at the surgeons feet. When he woke up he found himself trapped in front of Zeke's wife. She told him that Zeke was a fraud and that all that he had in life was due to the money of his super model trophy wife. It seemed that Zeke he had made a deal with Dr. Lovosno which consisted of using Deadpool as an undepletable meal for the surgeon's clients, as the surgeon's treatment, while making his clients beautiful, also had the side effect of them having to eat human flesh or else turn into zombies. However, after his clients tasted Deadpools flesh, Dr.Lovosno realized that his plan was a failure as his "clients" claimed it had a terrible taste, they said it tasted artificial.

Deadpool made a deal with them , in which he would trade his freedom for a bunch of fresh snacks (human flesh) that no one would ever miss, with one of them being Zeke. He asked for his bag and went outside to call Zeke and inform him of the success of the job and to confirm their meeting point on an abandoned castle. Some hours later Zeke showed up and he didn't have any money for Deadpool at all, instead showing up along with a large bunch of mercs with guns. However, this mattered little because the castle was surrounded by the Zombie clients of Lovosno which jumped and attacked the mercs, leaving Zeke for the desert.
Deadpool walked freely out of the castle, pressed a button on a remote control which he had, the remote triggered off an explosion which blew up the entire castle instantly along with all the mercs and zombies. He had a lot of explosive clay in that bag of his and he had used it all.
You Like Machetes? I love Machetes!
You Like Machetes? I love Machetes!

Later on Deadpool appears heavily injured on the shores of San Diego. Meanwhile, later on the same day, Tiger Shark receives a mysterious call in which the person on the other end demanded and ordered him to finish his job by bringing him Deadpool's head , otherwise there would be severe consequences.

Deadpool then gets awakened by a woman that appears to be a Nurse, Rosario by name, from a Refugee center. Deadpool thanks her and tries to leave but Rosario stops him after she sees the blood that Deadpool had left on the bed.
Apparently Deadpool likes her, but his thoughts are on more important things, like finding Tigershark. As soon as he goes outside he finds Tigershark in the alley carrying a very Big Machete!. Deadpool quickly closes the door but  Tigershark storms inside and they begin to fight. Deadpool tried to ask Tigershark who had hired him, but it was a futile attempt for a full body of police arrived. Tigershark escaped quickly and Deadpool goes into the room where Rosario and the refugees had entered.

Rosario appeared to be very scared and was talking with a policeman on her cell phone , Deadpool tells her to call him but the police come to the '' rescue'' and shoot him full of holes. The lead policeman tries to comfort a very scared Rosario and tells the other policemen to "bag" Deadpool.

Later on Deadpool gets out of the "bag", thinking he was in a morgue, but instead finds himself on a port with Tigershark waiting for him yet again and this time ready to chop him up with an axe. But Tigershark is stopped by a gunshot, which misses, fired from the rifle of  Bob Agent of Hydra! who had come to save Deadpool. Tigershark then quickly jumps into the water in order to make a counter-attack, Deadpool tells Bob to throw him the weapon but the throw falls short and falls into the water.

Seconds later Tigershark strikes back and throws Bob into the water. Deadpool then jumps into the water as well in order to recover the rifle and fight Tigershark. Deadpool then resurfaces with the rifle and waited for Tigershark to resurface, but Tigershark never does. Eventually Bob resurfaces, and though he had almost drowned, he was okay. Deadpool and Bob then go to a motel named El Corraltito to recuperate.

While at the motel, Deadpool sends Bob to go get a soft drink, but when he returns he not only has the drink but also with a gun pointed at Deadpool's face. Bob apologizes but says his employer will kill him if he doesn't kill Deadpool. But instead of shooting, Bob asks Deadpool to protect him if he doesn't go through with it. Deadpool informs him that there are no bullets in the gun because he knew something was up. deadpool then tells Bob that he accepts his offer. Deadpool takes Bobs gun, loads it, then goes into the bathroom to prep for Tigershark's entrance. Tigershark bursts into the room and interrogates Bob as to where Deadpool went. Tigeshark goes to the bathroom to find Deadpool waiting behind the door. Tigershark disarms him but Deadpool is still able to subdue Tigershark with a towel and then get his gun back. Deadpool proceedes to pump Tigershark full of lead. Deadpool then asks Bob to give him a high five. However, Deadpool takes this opportunity to shoot Bob in the hand for the disloyalty of even pretending to betray him. Deadpool then asks Bob who hired him. After a little bit of interrogation, Bob tells him it was none other than Norman Osborn. Deadpool doesn't recognize the name but then sees Osborn on television and realizes why he wants Deadpool dead. If everyone found out it was actually Deadpool who got the information on the Skrull Queen, and not Osborn, then everyone would know how much of a fake Osborn really was, and his new initiative would be ruined. Deadpool vows to get even and get the money he deserves by tracking down Osborne himself. He sends Osborn an invoice that demands 100,000,000 dollars in 12 hours. His letter also reads "P.S. I killed Bob."

Magnum Opus

     Deadpool's B.A
Deadpool's B.A
Deadpool went to the Avengers tower to get back at Osborn. He went there and was confronted by an Iron suit. A flying robot (that resembled a goblin glider) came as well and was being controlled by Osborn. Osborn used the robot to shoot at Deadpool and was surprised to see that a direct hit didn't put him down. Deadpool got the iron plate from the Iron suit and used it as a chest protector. Deadpool then continued going up the tower. As he was going up he decided that he should have one of his wacky hallucinations. He hallucinated that he was climbing a beanstalk and that Osborn was the giant on top. During his hallucination, he was attacked and he snapped out of it. He was attacked by a flying robot bat that resembled a goblin glider. As he was about to destroy it, he thought of using it instead to get to the right floor of the tower. Using the robot bat, Deadpool got to the floor he wanted and then destroyed the robotic bat. Just as he was about to tell Osborn his knock-knock joke, he was confronted by the Thunderbolts who were working for Osborn. Norman is then seen smiling from a different building as the Thunderbolts start chasing Deadpool. Their fight led them into a secret lab within Avenger's Tower. While there, Deadpool incessantly mocked each of the members of the Thunderbolts and escapes using an experimental teleporter calling it "old school Deadpool". Norman Osborne wanted this because there was a tracker placed within the teleporter. With the tracker, Osborn could quickly track Deadpool back to his base of operations in order to find any proof of Deadpool's involvement in finding the Skrull Queen weaknesses, and also to kill Deadpool once and for all. But as it turns out, Deadpool was expecting this and laid a trap for them within a warehouse. When the Thunderbolts arrived Deadpool subdued most of the team with bug spray and noise machines. Then he found Black Widow and was about to shoot her when he saw how pretty she was and stopped to ask her if she had a boyfriend.

A brief struggle ensues and Deadpool makes Black Widow laugh, but the moment is ruined by Paladin, so Deadpool teleports away to meet up with his new accomplice, Taskmaster. Taskmaster puts on one of Deadpool's costumes. The Thunderbolts see a plane flying past with a banner asking if Black Widow loves Deadpool, also asking her to call his number. Black Widow calls the number, the Thunderbolts trace it, and Black Widow sends the Thunderbolts after
     Do you have a Boyfriend?
Do you have a Boyfriend?
Deadpool while she stays on the phone with him at H.Q. However, she was talking to Taskmaster who switched over to Deadpool after the Thunderbolts left. The Thunderbolt's truck then blows up and they come under sniper fire... Deadpool was in a plane overhead. Deadpool then teleports into the same room with Black Widow after wounding some of the Thunderbolts. He steals a kiss, then teleports back to Taskmaster. After an argument and a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors to see who gets to flirt with Black Widow, Deadpool is left fighting the Thunderbolts while Taskmaster, still disguised as Deadpool, tries to woo her away. However it's a trap and Taskmaster is captured... Black Widow waits for him to wake up with the help of his healing factor as she still thinks it's Deadpool in the costume and not Taskmaster. Norman then taunts Headsman saying that he hasn't done anything to contribute to the Thunderbolts. Headsman then goes to chop off Taskmasters head when none other than the real Deadpool shows up. The Fighting starts and Deadpool frees Taskmaster from his chains. The Thunderbolts are then defeated but Norman escapes in his jet. Deadpool was able to make it into the jet and he confronts Norman. After some talking, Norman attacks Deadpool but is shot in his side and the jet crashes. Black Widow was also able to follow the jet and she defended Norman against Deadpool. Deadpool then gets his head chopped off from behind by the Headsman. Norman then tells them to burn Deadpool's head. Later on, Deadpool is seen talking to Taskmaster,  he tells him that he got the Gold Card of Norman Osborn. He gets all the money he wants and pays Taskmaster via ATM. Deadpool then thanks Taskmaster for sewing his head back on, but Taskmaster tells him that he didn't sew it back. They then both realize that it was Black Widow who sewed it back on and Deadpool knows that she does love him.

Bullseye

Norman Osborn is set for a live interview on television. He gives the woman a paper with the questions he would be asked. However the interview is interrupted by none other than Deadpool. Norman decides to send one of the Dark Avengers after Deadpool and Bullseye is chosen for the job, who sets off to find Deadpool. Meanwhile, a pizza is delivered to the house of a rich man. The man says that he did not order a pizza and then Deadpool comes and tells him that he did. Deadpool, the rich man and the pizza boy then talk inside the house. Deadpool then tells the pizza boy that he
is here to kill him because of what he did to a young girl nine years ago. The pizza boy then takes a bullet to his head and he dies. Deadpool realizes that the man is rich and he decides to rob him. He waits downstairs and watches television as the man gets his stuff ready for Deadpool. The television then shows Deadpool during his fight with the Skrulls, but shows him allying with the Skrulls, which was just a part of his infiltration plan, and that he has been deemed a traitor to the human race. Upon seeing this, Deadpool realizes he is being framed and is ready to leave. He goes upstairs to talk to the man but he sees him dead on the floor with an arrow in his chest. The man was seemingly killed by Hawkeye. Deadpool and Hawkeye engage in a fight. Eventually Deadpool realizes that it's actually Bullseye in a Hawkeye disguise. The house erupts into a fire and starts burning down as the two are fighting. Deadpool is dominating the fight, but then Bullseye richochets an arrow off the wall which ends up striking Deadpool in the head.

After Bullseye captures Deadpool he takes him to a slaughterer house and calls a radio host to ask what he should do with Deadpool seeing as he doesn't want to kill him, but Norman Osborn does want to kill him. After Deadpool wakes up, Bullseye lets him walk out of the house only to be attacked by the slaughterer but thinking he was Dr. Killebrew, he trips him and kills him. After that Deadpool goes abck into the house, only to be attacked by Bullseye once again. After a brief scuffle between the two, Deadpool hides in a meatlocker and decides to put on a meat suit so he can not be hit by Bullseye's arrow's. It then cuts to a scene 28 years ago showing Deadpool's childhood dream, fighting in a meatsuit one day. Deadpool fights with Bullseye again in his meatsuit this time and it pulls it off as he's able to block Bullseye's shots. Bullseye then recalls his childhood dream again, being the bad guy. They both enter a room filled with knives and different blades. Deadpool decides to use them as weapons but unfortunately, Bullseye's side of the room had better weapons. They start fighting again but this time, Deadpool takes the upperhand in the fight and sticks a hook through Bullseye's chest.

     BLAM!!!
BLAM!!!

Deadpool takes Hawkeye to the hospital after stabbing him with a meat hook and Norman Osborn visits Hawkeye to criticize his methods of putting down Deadpool. After Hawkeye gets rested Norman sends him to go after Deadpool again at a Taco joint but knew that Deadpool had a trap and decided to wait until Deadpool lost it and gets the anxious Deadpool to come out of hiding and confront them head-on, something Hawkeye was waiting for. Hawkeye ambushed him but in the end it is Deadpool who wins the battle and runs over Hawkeye’s legs. Hawkeye pleads with Deadpool to let him go and that Osborn wanted to pay him off with money to stay low, Deadpool accepts and takes the money. (Which actually came from Bullseye's savings) After Deadpool got paid he sits in his hideout for a month, doing nothing but watching TV and eating chips until he gets bored and shoots himself .

Deadpool gives up with just waiting and laying low and he then has a new dream, to become a pirate. He uses the money he got from Bullseye to have a modern day pirate ship built for him. He also needs a crew and he gets Bob agent of Hydra to serve him wearing a parrot suit. They go off and end up in an island where they meet a blind girl. He makes her his personal navigator. Deadpool is attracted to her and tries making her jealous with a mannequin. When Deadpool gets back to the beach, he sees that his ship is missing and that it was stolen by real pirates. The pirates take his ship to a bay and they are followed by Deadpool and company. They raid the ship and Deadpool gets back his gold and his ship. He gives the gold to Bob and the blind woman and he sets off alone in his ship.

Utopia

Deadpool starts to reflect on his life as he is alone in sea. He starts to think what he really wants and needs. He starts hallucinating and starts talking to things that don't normally talk, like a dead shark he just fished for. Eventually, a large boat comes and rescues him. He is taken aboard and the captain of the ship brings him to get medical attention where they discover who he is. Deadpool jumps off the ship and ends up in San Francisco where he decides to start his life over. Deadpool goes into a bar where sailors stare at him and Deadpool kills them. He sees a news report about the happenings of Utopia and Deadpool decides to join the X-Men.

Messiah War

A thousand years in the future, X-Force has just arrived and the thousand year old Wade Wilson is a sniper who shoots the Vanisher upon X-Force's arrival. Deadpool then sneaks behind Domino and says you look just like this girl I knew a thousand years ago. Wolverine then asks him what he's doing here and stabs him in they head, in return Deadpool says "Logan i feel you inside my head, are you telepathic now?". Wade then says that he has been waiting for them. Logan then asks Deadpool where cable is, Wade says he doesn't know but he knows where he will be. Deadpool and X-Force then walk to Westchester looking for cable. When Wolverine, X-23, Archangel, and Warpath leave the group to find Cable, Deadpool is left with Domino, Elixir, and the Vanisher. Deadpool then says that he brought travel connect four.

Deadpool in a freezer for 800 Years Going Insane
Deadpool in a freezer for 800 Years Going Insane
Everyone wants to know what happened, so Deadpool sneaks in his own story while getting to current events. He said that around 2034, he was hired to stop some very determined rebels, but when the threat of hand-held nuclear devices became apparent, he hid himself in an industrial freezer and was going to work for whichever side wasn't blown up... however destroyed buildings trapped Deadpool, blocking the freezer door with debris. He then spent the next several decades in this tomb going even more insane, until he was finally released by a band of gun-totting nomads, but he was then attacked by Stryfe. It turned out that after everyone blew themselves up, Stryfe came in and made himself the ruler of the world, so Deadpool decided to work for him. Deadpool then said how happy he was that they were there, and that they can work together to beat Stryfe... but then suddenly the group was surrounded by robots. Deadpool then says he forgot to mention them...
They battle off the robots. Deadpool, obviously more insane then ever, continues to attack the robots after they are dead calling them "zombies". Stryfe himself appears and takes Hope away. Deadpool has, for now, taken the side of Cable and X-Force. Domino notices that Deadpool has been looking funny at her. She thinks that he is hitting on her. Whether he is or not is uncertain, even to him.

As they approach Stryfe's headquarters Deadpool reveals it's not something blocking them from jumping through time. It's someone. Deadpool says he can hear Stryfe's voice in his head. It can't control him but sometimes he can't tell if it's his voice or if he's just going more crazy. While fighting with Styfe Deadpool is torn in half and is apparently killed (but he always finds a way to come back).

Game$ of Death

Deadpool came to a man named Mr. Kilgore. Deadpool was highly recommended to Kilgore (by sources unknown) and he offered to pay Wade one million dollars. He was hired to find out what happened to a man named Julian, son of Mr. Kilgore, and punish whoever was responsible. Julian was said to have auditioned for some Japanese game show. Deadpool had to travel to a remote island and compete in an illegal game show where the contestants fight for their lives, just to save Julian. Of course, Deadpool accepted the mission given to him. Deadpool wore a mask which was the face of Grand Master Woo Ping Yeun, who was a master martial artist. The game show was called "Pain Factor" and it was banned in every country around the world except
Bangladesh (and even they were in the process of banning it). There were to be a series of life-threatening competitions that the contestants had to overcome. After the contestants were all introduced, the show started. After the challenges, it was only Deadpool and Kariem Williams left for the final c hallenge. The host of the show introduced the surprise guest who turned out to be Deadpool as the host removed his mask. Another contestant was introduced to the show, as well. The new contestant was a huge man named Bataar. Williams was killed by Bataar by way of an axe to the head. It was then down to Deadpool and Bataar. Deadpool chopped Bataar in half with his sword to beat him. As prize money for the contest, Deadpool won a check worth one million dollars. The game show host then ordered his men to kill Deadpool. But, Deadpool easily killed all of them including the camera men. He then had the host on the floor as he removed his mask. The host ended up being Julian himself. Deadpool then killed Julian with his sword. Deadpool returned to Mr. Kilgore the next day. He told him about how the host was his son and that he punished the man responsible. Deadpool was paid one million dollars and told Mr. Kilgore that he wanted two million dollars. Deadpool knew that Mr. Kilgore set him up in order to boost the ratings of the game show so Julian would earn more. Deadpool threatened Kilgore that he would give him a "tan" if he wasn't paid two million dollars. Kilgore then gave Deadpool an extra suitcase with an extra million dollars in it.

Suicide Kings

Deadpool decided to enter a contest called "Mercenary of the Year" to earn some quick cash. He goes to the meeting place and sees three mercenaries. One mercenary is considered a legend for his reputation within the "community". Deadpool is then attacked by all three mercs and easily defeats all three. A young man, named Conrad, then walks into the room and talks to Deadpool. He wanted to make a deal with Deadpool to kill a man who threated to kill his family if he didn't pay him some money. Conrad offered Deadpool money to accept the job, with a bonus once the job was complete. deadpool accepts the job. Later that night, Deadpool went to the hotel where the killer was supposed to be staying. He busted down the door of the room and there was an explosion. The suspect was killed by the explosion and the hotel started to burn down. Deadpool returns to the set meeting place to meet up with Conrad. Deadpool asks the janitor if he knew where Conrad was, but the janitor didn't know what he was talking about.

To clear his head, Deadpool goes to Knockers. He daydreams that the waitress is Emma Frost and they got married with other Marvel heroes attending the wedding. Deadpool looks at the television and sees a news report  about the killing of the three mercenaries. He pays his check and leaves Knockers right away. Conrad is then seen talking to a man in the shadows. The man ends up being none other than Tombstone. Meanwhile, the news story continues on the television and Deadpool is revealed as the killer of the mercenaries. The Punisher himself sees the news and prepares himself and his weapons.

The next day a delivery boy comes to Deadpool's apartment. The Punisher gives him one thousand dollars for his uniform and the pizza. The Punisher then poses as Deadpool's delivery guy and gets into his apartment. Deadpool realizes something isn't right with the size of his delivery man. He asks Punisher the price for the pizza again, which the Punisher answers incorrectly. They start fighting and the Punisher is utilizing new tech provided by a his friend Henry. The Punisher wins this confrontation but Deadpool escapes to Outlaw's apartment. He recuperates there and the Punisher attacks again. This fight is broken up by none other then Matt Murdock, The Daredevil.

Deadpool then goes to speak with an editor of a magazine. He's looking for a name of a man who had an ad in their magazine. He's looking for Conrad's last name as he was the man who set Deadpool up. The editor refuses to tell Deadpool the man's name. He then notices that the editor, who was playing a video game, had a hard time getting through a level in the game. Deadpool offered to help him finish the level if he told him the man's name. Deadpool and Daredevil, who are now working together, have a meeting with Ben Urich. Apparaently, the man in the ad didn't leave a name but only and envelope. Ben notices that the envelope had the O'Shea crest. Deadpool and Daredevil now know who they're looking for and they go on to meet with Conrad's father. Meanwhile, the Punisher tracks down Daredevil and Deadpool to an abandoned firestation. He comes in with his new technology and takes out Daredevil for a while with sonics. It doesn't affect Deadpool, though, and they start to fight. Their fight progresses into the street and Deadpool gets Punisher's hook stuck on his car. Daredevil then arrives and they both, Daredevil and Deadpool, try explaining to Punisher that Deadpool was set up. However, before they could finish talking, Punisher escapes with his ride.

The new duo then meet up with Conrad's father in the O'Shea Penthouse. Conrad's father tells them that he wants them to find his son and make him pay for his crimes under the full penalty of the law. He tells them not to harm his son, though, or else he'd hunt them both down. He gives them information about Conrad working for Tombstone. Deadpool and Daredevil then split up for the moment. Daredevil goes to find more information on the whereabouts of Tombstone. Deadpool meets up with Outlaw in her apartment. He tells her about what has been going on lately and updates her on the news. Deadpool then sees a man spying on them from another building and he goes to track the man down. He traps the man on the rooftop and tries talknig to him. Before he gets to really talk to him, Spiderman comes and webs up Deadpool and lets the man escape. Deadpool talks to Spiderman and tries telling him that it wasn't his fault. but, before he could finish his sentence, his head gets blown up by the Puinisher.

His eventually grows back. While it does so he hallucinates his comic is now the Wizard of Oz limited series. He wakes up at the Essex house with Spider-man and Daredevil. While they get up to speed on what's going on Tombstone hires The Hood to kill Deadpool for him. Deadpool and the other split up to find Tombstone. Deadpool goes to a strip club owned by Tombstone but Punisher finds him again. They fight but throughout the fight Punisher's  partner monitor's Deadpool's heart rate and realizes he's telling the truth about the frame up and tells the Punisher to believe him. They team up and hunt for Tombstone together. They track down one of his gangs and fight them. Tombstone escapes on a motorcycle. Deadpool chases him with another motorcycle Spider-man assists in the chase and they find Tombstone who is now being aided by The Wrecking Crew.

Deadpool's Powers

Deadpool has been artificially endowed with a superhuman regenerative healing factor by the Weapon X program that is at times shown to be superior to that of Wolverine's or Sabretooth's. At the time of the gene therapy, Deadpool was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The scientists at Weapon X injected him with a specially engineered serum derived from Wolverine. The serum was calibrated to not only provide him with Wolverine's healing factor but to also account for the presence of the cancer cells in his body. The serum was programmed to produce replacement cells for what the cancer was killing off. As a result, this left his body in a constant state of flux and regeneration. Because of this, Deadpool's healing factor evolved to a point where it made him virtually unkillable. Removal of his powers would cause him to have a cancer relapse, as he himself is aware. As a by-product of his healing factor, he possesses enhanced strength, agility, and reflexes.

The healing factor enables him to regenerate damaged or destroyed tissue with much greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. He can regenerate whole organs and even severed limbs. In at least one instance, Deadpool, after breaking nearly every bone in his body, strapped himself to a rack so his bones set properly. He has survived being decapitated, though his head did not regenerate; it was simply placed back in its proper place and allowed to heal/regenerate. Deadpool can also come back from the dead, as a direct result of his healing ability. The reason for this is unknown. This has the apparent effect of slowly making Deadpool more insane every time he dies, to the point of becoming sociopathic, hallucinations, and multiple personality disorder.

For a brief time, Weapon X heightened his powers to a point where he was able to regrow body parts at will - better and stronger than before - enabling him to regenerate a severed arm in mere seconds. This augmentation also restored his normal appearance.

Additionally, Deadpool's healing factor is proportional to the amount of injury he receives. An excellent example of this is in issue 30 of the Cable and Deadpool series. In one part of a battle with the Great Lakes Avengers, he set off one of his own grenades, blowing a large hole in his abdomen, but regenerated this in relatively little time. Conversely, during the same fight, Squirrel Girl beat him into submission by clawing him furiously, apparently not severely enough to cause his healing factor to respond as powerfully. His regenerative ability also greatly enhances his stamina. Domino once referred to him as a living 'Energizer Bunny'.

Deadpool's brain cells are similarly affected, rendering him immune to psychics such as Professor X and Emma Frost. This constant flux may or may not be what causes his irreverent banter and ADD-type personality. His more recognizable demeanor established itself from the moment his healing factor began working at the Hospice. He is completely unpredictable, which has even extended itself to his physical coordination when he so desires. After checking Weapon X's files, Cable stated that Deadpool's cognitive functions would never be normal as long as the regeneration was in his system, and later used the last vestiges of his telepathic ability to correct the damaged areas of the latter’s brain. This allowed greater access to long and short-term memories, but Deadpool's behavior remained completely unchanged.

When Deadpool's genetic map is added to the Super Skrulls, it is implied that Deadpool's insanity is caused by his healing factor. Once his matrix is input into the Skrulls, they begin to go insane and act much as Deadpool does. The lead geneticist even goes so far as to say "I've infected them with his mental illness." A fact which, seemingly proved true, would lead one to believe that Deadpool's mental faculties are largely influenced by his regenerative abilities.

Aside from his physical advantages, Deadpool is a superb assassin and mercenary, and an expert in multiple forms of armed and unarmed combat. He favors using bladed and martial arts weapons to meet opponents in single combat, but will just shoot them if he has a bad day or is in a hurry. His trademark weapons seem to be his twin katanas that he wears on his back when not in use, and his dual-wielded pistols. On occasion, Deadpool comically produces previously unseen weapons from thin air. This was only addressed outright once in a Heroes For Hire story where Deadpool returned Misty Knight and Colleen Wing's various weapons to them through mystery concealment. When asked how, he replied, "It involves an awful lot of lubricant."

Deadpool has excellent aim (though not with any given object, like Bullseye), which was temporarily destroyed by the Black Swan. He owns a personal teleportation device, usually located on his belt. This device, created by Weasel, teleports him away from, and occasionally into trouble, and has been prone to numerous malfunctions over the years. For a time he shared Cable's "body-slide" transporting technology, with the limitation that both of them automatically teleport at the same time. Early in his original ongoing comic, he also possessed an image inducer built by Weasel. It projected holographic disguises in order to go undercover, conceal his bizarre appearance, or goof off, for example to masquerade as Spider-Man's alter-ego, Peter Parker, while trapped several years in the past. More recently Deadpool stole an experimental teleportation device designed by Oscorp.

A master martial artist, Deadpool has fought evenly with Iron Fist before the latter's increase in power in Immortal Iron Fist. In a Cable and Deadpool tie-in to the Marvel Civil War event, Deadpool single-handedly engaged a group of five other superheroes including Goliath, Captain America, Hercules, Falcon, and Iron Fist (disguised as Daredevil) in hand-to-hand combat, though the outcome of the battle was forestalled by Captain America and the arrival of Cable. He has also fought Shen Kuei, a rival of Shang-Chi also known as Cat. Although Deadpool lost in their initial confrontation, Cat admitted the possibility of losing his life should they fight again. Later on in the same issue however, Deadpool was unable to beat Shen Kuei directly (or simply didn't have the time to do so) and resorted to taking a hostage. The combination of his battle-prowess and enhanced physique enabled him to defeat the non-superhuman grandmaster combatant, the Taskmaster, while both his hands and feet were manacled. Deadpool believes Taskmaster had let him win, but Taskmaster tells him he was really trying, just that "The truth is...You're that good. You've always been that good. Which won't get you a cup of coffee until you figure out how to be a professional..." He has also been shown defeating Wolverine on a few instances, and stalemating him on several other various occasions. Deadpool is also shown to hold his own in a battle with Wolverine's son Daken; after Daken cuts both Deadpool's hands off, he manages to dizzy Daken by kicking him face first into a wall.

Deadpool uses his continuous, off-the-wall banter to distract, insult, frustrate, and infuriate his opponents. Even when losing, he has refused to keep quiet and his constant chatter has even slightly muddled Daredevil's enhanced senses. Domino has claimed this to be the most dangerous aspect of his combat style, since he can appear to be completely distracted and disorient his opponent while still focusing on the battle. Also, Deadpool is immortal due to Thanos wanting to seperate him from Death.

Breaking the Fourth Wall: Deadpool's Interaction with the Reader

     Breaking the 4th wall
Breaking the 4th wall
Deadpool is one of few Marvel comic book characters that have regularly broken the "fourth wall" and called attention to his nature as a comic book character. Marvel has officially referred to this as Deadpool's "comic awareness," a play on Captain Marvel's "cosmic awareness."

Joe Kelly was the first writer to show him breaking the fourth wall, with minor mentions as early as Deadpool #4, when Deadpool is informed that he will have to fight the Hulk in order to obtain his DNA; he protests and begins to sing the theme song from the 60's Hulk cartoon: "No shinola I'm scared! This is the INCREDIBLE HULK here! Doc Bruce Banner, pelted by Gamma Rays, turned into the Hulk - Ain't he unglamorous?!? The FREAKIN' HULK!" The same issue also had the three characters in the story (Siryn, Dr. Killebrew, and Deadpool) break the fourth wall on the title page by talking to the reader for a story recap, a practice Cable & Deadpool writer Fabian Nicieza would later copy. In #20, he refers to Marvel's financial troubles of the time ("Where were you when I bought all that stock in Marvel Comics?") while on a jaunt with the precognitive Montgomery. In issue #28, Deadpool again has a clear cut example of breaking the fourth wall when telling Bullseye what issue they had last met. Furthermore, in #29, Deadpool, interrogating a geneticist, referred to the Spider-Man Clone Saga story and its implications for the franchise's popularity, stating "I don't know if you keep up with these things but the kids hate clones. I'd be crucified if there was a clone in this book." Issues #28 and #29 also contain an in-story moment in which Deadpool turns to the "camera" and comments on an aspect of the story. Later in Deadpool #30, Deadpool again breaks the fourth wall for a recap, dressing himself like Hamlet and using Blind Al's skull in place of Yorick's saying this was a way to replace the now missing gatefolds (for a time all Marvel comics had a fold out recap page that has been discontinued). In Kelly's final issue, #33, Death told a disembodied Deadpool that he was now hers for 30 days, the amount of time before #34 would be released. The Wizard Magazine special, Deadpool #0, also written by Kelly during his run, has Deadpool note, "Isn't it cool how quickly we get to the story when we only have 12 pages?"

Later in the series, Christopher Priest took it several steps further. In fact, at the time, some ads for the book came with the tag-line "Deadpool: Breaking down the fourth wall, brick by brick!" Priest's first issue in the book has Deadpool walking into a trailer park that's populated by all the heroes whose books were written by and canceled during Priest's run, including Ka-Zar, Moon Knight, Hawkman. Deadpool also throws a duffel bag with the inscription "Every good idea Joe Kelly ever had and everything that made this book work" down a tar pit in this prologue to Priest's run. In Priest's final issue, Deadpool is back in the trailer park, and throws away another bag with Priest's corpse inside, much to the disbelief of the "canceled" heroes. Deadpool himself makes several in-canon mentions to his knowledge of the universe, first to Loki (in disguise at the time) and repeatedly throughout Priest's run as a mantra: "None of this is really happening. There is a man. With a typewriter. This is all part of his crazy imagination."
Deadpool, unlike most characters, is aware that he is in a comic book and able to express his thoughts via captions.

At the end of Agent X #15, upon coming back from the dead, he wonders if he "still thinks in those little yellow boxes." In the current Cable & Deadpool ongoing series, Deadpool occasionally narrates previous events for the reader, on one occasion mentioning that the book's editor told him that the current reader is the only person who has actually bought the book. The character also makes frequent in-jokes about the comic book industry. After the events that took place in Agent X, Deadpool was thought to be cured of his knowledge of the fourth wall, but in Cable & Deadpool #23 while summarizing the previous issue, he makes blatant mention of the recap page. He then says "Hmm, I thought I was cured of that 'fourth wall' thing..." Also, recapping the events of the ongoing Marvel Civil War in Cable & Deadpool #31, he says, "And the Boy Scout branch made a big show of cooperating, by having Spider-Man reveal his identity on national TV...as if we hadn't seen the movies already and didn't know it was dreamy doe-eyed Tobey Maguire under the mask!", having previously referred to Tobey Maguire's portrayal and the movies directly to Spider-Man himself in Cable & Deadpool #30. In Cable & Deadpool #30, while fighting the Great Lakes Avengers, Deadpool wonders how they know what he is saying in his little yellow thought boxes. They reveal that he's actually been saying everything out loud. Deadpool then ponders how this is happening, as he was fairly certain he was thinking in the first person narrative. This continues throughout the rest of the issue. The "faulty first person narrative" is also referenced in Cable & Deadpool #31. Currently, he can be found making brief statements explicitly referring to existing in comic book panels. For example, in issue #36, he makes the statement to the reader after knocking out Taskmaster that "that was probably cheap, even by my standards, probably, but now we can just move on to this..." and jumps to the next panel. Additionally, Deadpool answers his own letter column. Interestingly, although Deadpool frequently makes remarks to other Marvel Universe characters that reference their presence in a comic book, the other characters never seem to make any attempt to figure out what he's talking about. This is probably because nobody takes anything Deadpool says seriously anyway, due to his insanity (his knowledge of the fourth wall may indeed be a result of his insanity, or, at least, that's how it would be perceived by other characters. The idea of a character's insanity revealing to them knowledge of being in a comic book has been used by other characters, in other continuities, such as the Joker).

Deadpool also had a fourth-wall-breaking recap page in Cable & Deadpool. While it featured him (and/or, on occasion, Cable, supporting cast members, featured villains, or guest stars) recapping the storyline in various ways, such as in the form of a late-night talk show monologue, in Cable & Deadpool #36, he is seen in the offices of Marvel Comics, harassing his book's editor Nicole Boose about the current storyline, until she distracts him by convincing him that he needs to speak with the editor of the then-ongoing Civil War event. Earlier, during The Burnt Offering story arc, he is interviewed by Irene Merriweather for the recap page (Cable is similarly interviewed by Irene during each part of the story) and clearly disparages his co-creator, Fabian Nicieza, as his writer, while stating his preference for two of his former writers, Joe Kelly and Gail Simone, referring to their present assignments at DC Comics, all of which baffled Irene.

There is also one time he said to Spider-Man, "I call them a loyal supporting cast, Mr. Holier-Than-Thou-Fugitive-From-The-Law, Spider-Man. And I don't have to make a deal with Mephisto to have it either.". Spider-Man wonders why he said that. Deadpool replies, "Never mind.", meaning he was indicating Spider-Man and Mary Jane Watson's deal with Mephisto in Spider-Man: One More Day, and he knew there was a question mark in Spider-Man's speech balloon.

Deadpool in Alternate Realities

Earth-295
Deadpool is known as Dead Man Wade in the Age of Apocalypse, and was given his healing abilities by Apocalypse, not Weapon-X. Apocalypse then placed Dead Man Wade in his elite team known as the Pale Riders. Dead Man Wade was psychotically depressed and a serial killer, and he allowed a sadistic Moonstar to torture him because he saw it as a form of affection. He wasn't only just constantly healing like 616 Deadpool, but he was constantly decaying too. This makes him wish for death for he is constantly in pain. When Apocalypse ordered the Pale Riders to destroy the sanctuary of Avalon he is betrayed by Damask. He was apparently killed by Nightcrawler, who teleported his head away from his body.

Heroes Reborn/Counter-Earth
This is not an alternate reality, but an alternate earth located in Earth-616. This version of Deadpool never got cancer or went to the Weapon-X

program. He joined the Avengers calling himself the Swordsman, and would later become their leader. He was calmer, level-headed, and stern. He also carried a wide array of swords with him.
He eventually uncovers the fact that their universe is actually a lie. This sends him into a spiraling depression. He gains a massive amount of weight and becomes suicidal. He eventually decides to try to destroy their "pocket universe" as it is a mockery of their existence.

Earth- Millennial Visions
Millennial Visions' Deadpool was hired by Sebastian Shaw to kill the X-Men. Shaw was so happy with Deadpool's success that he hired Deadpool to kill all the mutants. He eventually tried, the last on his list were: Wolverine, Sunfire, Northstar, and Banshee, who were all hiding from Deadpool in Japan. He did fight with Wolverine but could not kill him. Wolverine did lose an arm in the fight however. Deadpool used his claw as a weapon thereafter. Deadpool kept pictures and souvenirs from all of his targets. He is determined to finish off the rest of the world's mutants and get paid.

Earth-1610
     Ultimate Deadpool
Ultimate Deadpool
Ultimate Deadpool was a cyborg and appeared to have healing abilities like 616 Deadpool. This version of Deadpool goes by the name of Wadey Wilson and was a Sergeant in the U.S. Marines, he a lso hates that any snot-nosed punk (mutants) can have powers and believes they should earn them.
He was hired to kill the X-Men by Mojo, and subsequently Spider-Man, on a reality television show on an island off the shore of Genosha and leads the Ultimate version of the Reavers, which were his army buddies. They are all cybernetically enhanced with super strength and artifical powers to fight mutants on their show. He seemingly got killed by Kitty Pryde when she phased through him causing his cybernetic implants to explode, although he is seen alive later on, no longer a cyborg. He has similarities to both his 616 counterpart and Donald Pierce.

Earth-2149

     Zombie Deadpool
Zombie Deadpool

In the Zombiverse, Deadpool as most other heroes was turned into a zombie and is seen with other zombie super-beings
attacking the Silver Surfer. Later, zombie Deadpool is the first to be sent into the 616 universe and infects some of the
members of the Florida initiative as part of an invasion plan, but is decapitated and his still living head is brought back for study at A.R.M.O.R. headquarters. When Zombie Morbius breaks the plan, Deadpool talks Simon Garth into helping him escape. No longer feeling the hunger, he talked about trying to start a new life before being captured by Black Talon.  But he and Talon later escape by Deadpool bitting one of Black Talon's men in the hand turning him into a zombie and later attacking the other prison guards.  They escape in the town and into the new treat of the zombie storm cloud.  After a while Deadpool came to a point were he was tired of running and wanted to end it all by being caught or killed.  Simon Garth ends up putting him in a boat drifting him to safety and piece and fakes Deadpool's death by burning his mask and showing the mask to the Midnight Sons.  Zombie Deadpool then ends up on the  Savage Land where he is seen as aGod and then meets his his Earth 616 self.
This Deadpool seems almost identical to earth 616's. He is sarcastic, states he had a healing factor before getting infected but it doesn't work anymore, and has 616 Deadpool's sadistic sense of humor. He also breaks the fourth wall just like Earth 616 Deadpool does.

     Exiles Deadpool
Exiles Deadpool
Earth-5021
Deadpool of Earth-5021 was unhinged from time and forced to become a member of the Exiles' rival reality-hopping group known as Weapon X, which performed morally challenging tasks. He acted similar to Earth-616 Deadpool, but was less erratic and more bloodthirsty. After being apparently killed by Sabretooth, he was put in stasis at the Timebrokers' base where he was freed by Dr. Strange whom realized that Deadpool was alive. Deadpool then killed him and attempted to take over the Timebrokers' headquarters with other Weapon-X members. During the conflict, Mimic absorbed his healing factor powers (and couldn't get rid of it), and then was apparently killed by She-Hulk.

Earth-9997

Thing suspected that Deadpool took the identity of Daredevil, who is dead in this reality, and became a stuntman in a traveling show. The man denies to be Deadpool though.

Earth-811

After the original X-men are hunted down and killed by Agent Zero, Wolverine makes a new team of X-men. Deadpool is one of people recruited. Deadpool at first turns him down but after getting in several fights by the side of Wolverine he realizes it might be fun and he eventually changes his mind. He remarks about how Wolverine only wants him so he  can be the "token human" of the team. This Deadpool makes several pop culture references just like earth 616 does. He references Martha Stewart going to jail while fighting alongside Wolverine. Wolverine beings to question his decision to extend an invitation but after Deadpool single handedly takes down several assassins he knows he made the right choice. While training with the team he starts to gain a report with the other members. This new team of X-men is working better then Wolverine could have hoped for. While training however Agent Zero again tracks them down and Deadpool is apparently killed when he melts into sort of goop after Agent Zero attacks him with a corrosive weapon that has an attribute that works best against those with a healing factor. Wolverine is again the only X-man left and he then kills Agent Zero.
     Deadpool?

"Deadstroke" in the DC Universe

The Counter Earth version of Deathstroke has a strong resemblance to Deadpool. His costume is blue where Deathstroke's costume is orange and orange where Death Stroke's costume is blue; his left eye is also covered instead of his right. Through a cosmic coincidence he winds up on DC's main Earth with Owlman, Ultraman, and Superwoman. He is hired to protect Bruce Wayne by Bruce Wayne's father ( from Earth B, where apparently he is still alive and the police commissioner of Gotham) from being assassinated  As part of a running gag, he was never able to finish saying his name, only getting as far as "Dead--". He eventually is returned to his own universe.

Fan's are beginning to call this version Deadstroke, combining both Deadpool and Deathstroke's names.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)

In the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine Wade Wilson is played by actor Ryan Reynolds. It's unknown if he's a mutant or no, but he can use his swords to block bullets and he can jump very high.

Unlike his comic book version, here Deadpool doesn't use any other weapon than twin katanas, though there is a gun on his belt. William Stryker once said to Wade:"You'd be the perfect soldier Wade if you wouldn't have that mouth on you" this could' be why at the end of the movie Wade doesn't have a mouth as Weapon XI. Throughout the course of the movie people keep mentioning that something really bad has happened to someone. That someone was Wade. William Stryker reprogrammed him making him a perfect weapon. He became an almost unstoppable killing machine having the powers from several members of the former Weapon X team and from some other mutants too.

These powers include Wolverine's healing factor, Cyclop's optic blast with the only difference that he can control it, and John Wraith's teleportation. He has a final confrontation with Wolverine and Sabretooth  towards the end of the film. Resulting in Wade getting his head cut off by Wolverine. After the credits it showed Wades arm moving to his head stroking until his eyes opening and his finger goes on his lips shooing to the audience that he is still alive.

Animated Appearances

In the 90's x-men animated show produced by Fox, Deadpool never appears himself. However, there are three references to him. The first time is when Professor Xavier is exploring Sabretooth's mind, and Deadpool's face appears in Sabreooth's memories, along with some other people from the Weapon X program, including Wolverine, Maverick, and Omega Red. When Professor Xavier is possessed by Onslaught he finds Wolverine on a subway. Wolverine is surprised to see the professor walking. Onslaught transforms into several people from Wolverine's past. One is Deadpool. The next time Deadpool is referenced is very similar. When Morph returns, towards the end of the show he also confronts Wolverine by morphing into people he has a past with. This time they are all members of Weapon X, including Deadpool.
