So while I've been keeping up with the current Deadpool series as it's been coming out, I've also been renting out what fragments of Deadpool's solo series from the late 90's. And going into the issue, after the last issues gave us the death of Copycat and the death of Deadpool, I was willing to go into a storyline that I've only heard good things about.

But this issue, well the idea of the issue didn't even hit me until half way in. There are no words. Seriously, not a text box, not a word balloon, no set-up. Just a story told in art. And it's fantastic, I seriously have never seen more story told in one issue than in this. Without the constant need dedicate space for word balloons, you get that much more story.

We see the opening page taking a shot at Sixth Sense to allow Deadpool to know he's dead, we see Deadpool's casket and continue on to see his funeral. Kid Deadpool, Wolverine, Typhoid Mary, Blind Al, Black Panther, The Great Lake Avengers, Bullseye, Weasel and of course Siryn all show up to his funeral. And I enjoy the fact that Deadpool is left with no words, as if he didn't know all these people cared this much for him. There is a moment between him and Siryn, it totally sells their relationship. I almost don't want to read any further in the series to find out why she stopped "dating" him ended up with Madrox's kid.

Then, in a flash, Deadpool is pulled up to Heaven, where historical figures and Marvel's fallen heroes are seen. Bucky's playing poker with Lincoln and Carroll O'Connor. We watch as Deadpool climbs the stairs to what I believe is the Psycho house on the hill and into a bedroom where he finds Death. They're about to share a kiss, when a shadowy figure (I'm a Deadpool fan enough to know this is T-Ray) pulls some voodoo and brings Deadpool back to life. He heals up and pulls himself out of the grave, now freshly cursed with life.

The art is a amazing, the writing, ironically as you might think, is the best thing I've read this decade. It begs to be read a few times, just let all the things that happen sink in.

    Read it.
