CAGE MATCH OF THE CENTURY: LIVE IN VEGAS
These Deadpool covers have been a consistent delight, ranging wildly in genre, but keeping a consistently hilarious tone. This one is no exception, I mean...... it's Deapool in a boxing ring punching out Abraham Lincoln. What more could you want?
Deadpool is getting back into the swing of braking the fourth wall, but not in an overbearing sense. At first it appears he's just going for a subtle sense of providing entertainment to those who he secretly knows are reading his exploits, but then he truly breaks it when he tells us how many presidents he's going to kill in the next few pages, and even suggests proper background music for the readers. I gotta say, I listened to it through the entire rest of the issue, and Deadpool was spot on, especially when we get to the boxing ring.
This issue we get a nice variety of scenarios for Deadpool to kill of a variety of presidents in various locations. It's a wold romp around the country with hilarious quips and an excessive abuse of Deadpool's healing factor.
The whole final battle with Lincoln in an arena is just perfect. It's almost exactly what the cover suggests, except even better. Lincoln brushes up agains the fourth wall in a way that bothers me a bit, a bit too much of an in-joke for Lincoln to be making, but otherwise..... it's Deadpool vs. Lincoln, no weapons, live in Vegas. And then William Taft swoops in riding in a flying bathtub and Reagan hijacks a russian space shuttle. It's that awesome, yes.
In Conclusion: 5/5
DEADPOOL. VS. LINCOLN. LIVE IN VEGAS. SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY. Need I say more? Oh and the artwork is perfectly lively and grotesque in all the right ways, and anybody reading it already knows that.
