Deadpool #3
Deadpool's battle against the Undead Presidents is escalating as George Washington's plan at raising an undead army is getting closer to becoming fulfilled! However, with help from the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange, Deadpool and gang are ready to go President hunting.
The Good
One thing that make this comic enjoyable is that the story was already explained back in issue 1. Writers Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan make the undead President's motives clear and do not try to cover the story up with unnecessary drama and mystery. With other comics that works out perfectly [i.e. All-New X-Men, Superior Spider-Man etc.], however with a Deadpool comic one of the elements that make it successful is openly revealing the reason Deadpool is fighting an adversary [in this case the undead Presidents wanting to rebuild the country].
Deadpool is too much of a flopper between being serious and being funny. I believe that Posehn and Duggan masterfully pulled off the Deadpool series by openly telling the story behind Deadpool's adversity. Also the two writers finding a mix between Deadpool's mature and immature character helped make this new ongoing series always a pleasure to pick up each month.
Tony Moore's art and Val Staples colors are what seals the deal every month. With the excellent writing by Brian Posehna and Gerry Duggan, Moore and Staples really know how to flow together and make this book really pleasant to look at and read.
The Bad
I did feel that the pace of the comic ran a bit slow. Some parts carried on a bit longer than needed [like the conversation with Doc Strange in the beginning], however other than that the comic was great.
The Verdict
The creative team behind this book are geniuses! They have made DEADPOOL a title that is worth picking up every single month and really staying for every issue to see how it ends. This is a must have!
