Super-Dead-Skrull-Pool!
It's Deadpool versus the Skrull invasion! (With a little bonus "Deadpool Saga" at the end.)
Writing:
Daniel Way's writing definitely hit Deadpool on the head for me. This is one of those characters that you just can't take too seriously in the Marvel U. The two (or three if you count his actual word balloons) voices in his head was hilarious. One thing that I thought was a little out of place was the hallucination he has at the beginning of the book. I don't want to sound like I'm being too picky here, but it just seemed a little weird to me. In my writer's sense it seemed like a page filler. As if the writer and editor got together and said, "hey we need something to fill up just ONE more page of this book.", and this is what they came up with.
Art:
The art on here was crisp and clean. I never got lost, even with how good it looks. Sometimes if the art is too good, or doesn't have enough distinction from one panel to the next or foreground to background, it can be REALLY distracting regardless of how good-looking it is. We don't have any of those problems here. The art style fits not only the writing, but the character almost perfectly. Hopefully they keep Paco on this book for a while and don't pull him after a few issues. That would be ideal.
The Final Verdict:
I'm going to give this one 4 stars. It was a truely awesome read, but not legendary. Based off of this first issue, YOU SHOULD READ THIS BOOK!
Until next time...
