In 1948 Dutch publisher H.A.T.E. launched De Kat, a superhero beeldromans (a "picture paper" produced cheaply post-World War II, using smaller pages than might be found in American or British comics due to post-war paper shortages). Created by writer and artist Henk Albers, it ran for thirteen issues, ending in 1949.
