As some of you may know, this years NBA Slam Dunk Contest featured two players (Dwight Howard and Nate Robinson) who cleverly incorporated aspects of Superman and Kryptonite into their routine. Dwight Howard, who's a towering well chiseled athlete donned the Superman cape during several of his dunks. Not to be outdone, Nate Robinson, who's one of the smallest dunkers in the league, dressed up in his all green jersey, Kryptonite colored shoes, and Kryptonite colored ball.
Nate Robinson would win thee event when he dunked over Howard (who was still wearing the cape). The announcers continual referred to Robinson as "Lex Luthor." With the obvious success of Nate's creativity, the NBA was set to release a "Krypto-Nate" jersey. But when the DCU asked for a piece of the action the NBA withdrew the idea.
But fear not, all is not lost. Reports are coming in that the NBA and the DCU are working out the details of a pruposed partnership. To me this is a great idea. Its also a unique one. Clearly comicbooks have come along way from the "only for nerds" stigma it once had. With players like Dwayne Wade (who's nickname is The Flash) and Shaq, who imbroders the Superman logo on just about everything he owns, comicbook characters are as popular as ever.

DC Comics
Originally known as "National Publications", DC is a publisher of comic books featuring iconic characters and teams such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Justice League of America, and the Teen Titans, and is considered the originator of the American superhero genre. DC, along with rival Marvel Comics, is one of the "big two" American comic book publishers. DC Entertainment is a subsidiary of Warner Brothers and its parent company Warner Media.
NBA Cancels "Krypto Nate"
"I think that's a strong possibility. Dwayne Wade was wearing a Flash band-aid the other night, I'm thinking they might make everything from jerseys to Nba players in actual comics. Maybe even comics of their own (one shots more then likely)What are they planning on doing do you think? Putting basketball players in their own comic?
"
Sounds interesting.
I hope this doesn't lead to a crappy cartoon like the one they had with Mike Jordan, Bo Jackson and that hockey dude.
"This reminds of the the Pro Wrestling cartoon for some reason....LOLHulk Hogan's Rock 'N Wrestlers? LMAO
"
lmfao
Basketball players, or any professional athletes in general, have no business drawing any parallels between themselves and superheroes.
I'd disagree with that. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion. There are several comicbook characters who are athletes themselves. Or where before they became superheroes. Mr. Terrific was an Olympian, as one example.
