After an epic disaster is inflicted on Metropolis, Superman works to pick up the pieces – literally. But can he overcome his concern over Lois's disappearance? And as Brainiac and Luthor regroup, their plans start to coalesce in a surprising direction as the war for the future begins!

Lex Luthor has just had the Justice League Watchtower dropped on him and he is near death and he blames Superman. Superman however has bigger things on his mind. Brainiac has stolen the Daily Planet, with everyone still inside, and taken it off world.

While Superman and the rest of the world's heros look for Brainiac and ship, Luthor goes on the operating table to save his life, but just as the doctor is about to begin Brainiac kidnaps Luthor and takes him to his ship. Once on board Brainiac saves Luthor's life and against his will gives him robotic limbs. Luthor still not trusting Brainiac demands that Brainiac help him release the Daily Planet and make Luthor look the hero he always wanted to be.
