Originally National Allied Publications, the company acquired the rights to a number of smaller publications. From them, National Allied Publications picked the characters they deemed publishable, and adopted them into their own titles.
NAP had more than a couple magazines, but the two most famous were ACTION COMICS and DETECTIVE COMICS, the latter of which latter became the basis for their current company name DC COMICS.
