I was expecting Raven's popularity to really take flight, so to speak in her own mini series. When the cover first came out it seemed a little strange that Raven who's usually dark and gloomy to have such a colorful cover art. The expected dark shades of blue, black and gray certainly not the hot pink background with our dark bird smack dab in the middle sticking out like a sore thumb. With all due respect to Mr. Scott he does have his own unique and valuable style but it is better for the likes of Robin or Big Barda, characters with the multi-colored costumes. As I flipped through the first few pages I was suprised to find the ensemble they had put raven in. The quiet, conservative Titan was now sporting a red mid riff, a small leather mini skirt with high slits and high socks over fishnet stockings! adrastic fashion change after we last saw her sporting sweat shirts and baggy jeans. The story line was also confusing as it involved a young girl in a coma and the need to restore her "emotions" in order for her to heal her own body...

This is just the first issue, it has the potential to get better as the special continues. Most series are not fast paced right at the beginning. This one will just need to pick up faster because it is only 5 issues long . . .
I liked the art style in it. The more cartoonish look gave it a more friendly feeling, that is until the discomfort of the storyline kicks in with Raven just trying to fit in and all. The art did admittingly take a little while to get use to at first, but once I got use to it, I really enjoyed it.
Another thing I liked about the issue was that it kind of picks up right from the Teen Titan's comic book series. When I read the issue where she said that she was going to start school, I didn't think it was gonna go any further than that, but then there is this series and also the new "Titans" series shows her in school as well.
All in all, the first issue was a good read and I am betting on the second issue to be even better.

I agree with Broken wing, when i first saw this cover, it was nothing i expected. And I'm not really sure about the "finally in her own EMO series". I was really hoping that DC wont go the route with Raven. But they did. It just seems like they were trying to hard for a younger "emo" girl crowed. I could be wrong. The story is the same old raven story line. She is fight with controlling her powers. But the art work is what really got me. It kind of fits the "emo" style that they're trying to pull.
