DC Geniuses

This List doesn't have any kind of ranking, however it is separated depending of the kind of origin that the intelligence comes from. Ex: Human, Alien, Machines, etc. Not because a character is above another one means that he/she is smarter than the other one.

• Science: A character with great intelligence that is an expert in any kind of science.
• Arts: Characters that use to create different kinds of arts like painting and music to give a few.
• Tactics and Strategy: A character that uses his/her great intellect to create tactics and/or strategies to win in almost any scenario.
• Street Level: Characters that using his intelligence can solve a mystery using his/her detective skills.
• Magic: These characters have gained great power and knowledge thanks to the arts of the magic and illusion.
• Criminal Intelligence: Those who are intelligent in criminal activities such as Joker.

Human Intelligence

The intellect of a human who’s IQ hasn’t been increased using external help like machines, serums, powers (the powers are the ones that grant the superior intellect), etc.

Examples

Batman: Bruce Wayne is one of the most brilliant humans on Earth often paired alongside Lex Luthor and Michael Holt. Trained by the elites he has a complete balance between his body with peak human condition and intellect, and his intelligence is quite versatile allowing him to be rather skilled in most areas. Types of Intelligence: Science, Tactics/Strategy and Street Level.

Ray Palmer: Ray Palmer is quite possibly the smartest human on Earth, however this is only in a single field unlike some of the more famed geniuses like Batman or Lex Luthor. This genius has been able to use the science to create a belt that can manipulate his size to being as small as one atom. Type of Intelligence: Science.

Atom: Ryan Choi, Ray Palmer’s successor in taking up the Atom mantle was chosen by Ray Palmer himself to become the new Atom because of his great intellect. He had been Ray's student for quite some time and so he too is quite well-versed in the field of science. Type of Intelligence: Science.

Mr. Terrific: Michael Holt is often referred to as the “third smartest human” and is a genius of both the field of science and the world of a tactician. He has been known to having been able to create -from scratch- technologies that no other human had used before. He is also an elite member of Checkmate, a group of those who are known for being able to think two steps ahead. Type of Intelligence: Science and Tactics.

Lex Luthor: Lex Luthor is a human with a great intellect that he uses to pursue his obsession with killing Superman. He is quite similar to Batman, a human that is a genius in various areas, and because of this is often paired with Batman and Mr. Terrific as the smartest men on Earth. Types of Intelligence: Science, Criminal Intelligence and Tactics/Strategy.

Joker: Although he is often considered to be merely a simple clown because of his appearance and also the way he is always joking he is actually a man with a great intellect that can rival that of the mighty Batman himself. Type of Intelligence: Science and Criminal Intelligence.

Ted Kord: Ted Kord is the second person to use the name Blue Beetle, however, the difference between him and his predecessor was that he decided not to use the blue scarab that was thought to be of magic origin. The reason behind this was that Ted Kord had always been a science guy up until the day of his death. Types of Intelligence: Science and Street Level.

Will Magnus: Doctor Magnus is an expert in robotics and he was the man that created the Metal Men that are possibly the most advanced robots created by a human, even up to centuries after his time. Type of Intelligence: Science.

The Chief: Niles Caulder, better known as The Chief was the man who saved the members of the Doom Patrol after the disasters that should have killed them. This man is incredibly intelligent and has a great knowledge from anything that has to do with implants, medicine, and anatomy, how the mind works, etc. He and his rival, The Brain, often went head-to-head as few could compare their intelligence to Caulder's level. Type of Intelligence: Science.

Steel: John Henry Irons is a genius specialized in creating and designing bodies or armors using metal bases. In order to honor Superman after his death against Doomsday he built a bullet proof suit of armor whose computerized pneumatic exoskeleton joints gave him super-humanoid strength, and so it is thanks to his own genius that he has provided himself with powers instead of vice versa. Type of Intelligence: Science.

Dr. Sivana: Thaddeus Bodog Sivana is a human with great intelligence, having an obsession to kill Captain Marvel and his allies similar to the obsession that Lex Luthor has towards Superman. He uses his great intellect to create all kinds of way to eliminate Captain Marvel and is considered one of the most brilliant mad scientists on Earth. Type of Intelligence: Science.

Gizmo: Mikron O'Jeneus is a genius that can create some of the most powerful devices and weapons with some of the most ordinate things. Gizmo was indeed one of the world’s greatest engineers, all the way up until the day he was murdered. Type of Intelligence: Science.

Calculator: The Calculator was once one of the many laughable villains of Gotham City until the day he made a decision that changed his status forever. This was to use all his great intellect to gain information that he would later sell to villains. In some ways similar to Barbara Gordon’s services to the hero community just with a bit more of a villainous twist. Types of Intelligence: Science, Tactics/Strategy and Criminal Intelligence.

Ra's al Ghul: Ra’s al Ghul is the leader of the League of Assassins, and has been able to cheat death for centuries. Ra’s al Ghul is probably the best swordsman on Earth, however his true gifts are his great knowledge of the sciences and his great tactical mind. Ra’s al Ghul is one of the few people on Earth that can be considered the equal of Batman on any intellect level. Types of Intelligence: Science, Tactics/Strategy and Criminal Intelligence.

Lucius Fox: Lucius Fox is the current CEO and President of Wayne Enterprises and a sought after businessman all over the corporate world. He is a great financial officer and a good friend/ally to Bruce Wayne. He was also the man that designed most of Batman’s gadgets, making him a great inventor. So even though his type of intelligence differs from the norm he is still credited as being in the same category as geniuses such as Ray Palmer. Type of Intelligence: Science.

Nightwing: Having been Bruce Wayne’s ward he received the best education and tutelage the world could offer. However even before he ever became Bruce Wayne’s ward he was known to be the best in almost any school he attended while he was a member of the Flying Graysons. Dick Grayson is also known to be one great master tacticians as well as one of the world’s greatest detectives and one very good scientist in his own right. Oracle: Barbara Gordon is a woman that has always been someone with great knowledge of how to use a computer to its real potential. It was this skill that helped her as a detective when she was Batgirl. However, when she was brutally attacked by the Joker she was utterly paralyzed leading to the end of her days as a vigilante. Yet she decided to use her great knowledge of computers to get top secret information and organize the hero community against the villains of the world, creating the team of female heroes, Birds of Prey. Types of Intelligence: Science, Tactics/Strategy and Street Level.

Tim Drake: Tim Drake is the third person to assume the mantle of Robin. He gained this title some time after he discovered at a young age something that most of the best detectives haven’t been able to discover, the identity of Batman. Tim Drake dreams to become one day the world’s greatest detective, a title that is currently in possession of Batman, however Bruce Wayne is sure that Robin will one day become a better detective than him. Although Tim is the worst fighter of all Robins he makes up for his lack of fighting skills with an intelligence superior to all his earlier counterparts. Buddy Blank: Buddy Blank is the man that was recently revealed to have invented one of the most powerful and advanced machines that the Earth and the universe has ever known, Brother Eye. Just the invention of this technology is enough to put Buddy Blank as one of the most intelligent and powerful minds that the world has ever known. Type of Intelligence: Science.

Scarecrow: Jonathan Crane knows perfectly how the mind of a human works and that was -along with his great knowledge of science- what helped him to create his gas that makes the one who inhales it witness and confront their worst fears. Type of Intelligence: Science and Criminal Intelligence.

Mad Hatter: Jarvis Tech is like almost all of Batman’s villains...a criminal that has great knowledge of the mind and attacks on an mental level rather than a physical one. He invented a device that lets him control people to do whatever he desires them to do. Type of Intelligence: Science.

Riddler: Edward Enigma is a man that has always been obsessed with riddles, that’s in part what helped him adopt Riddler as his codename for his villainous activity. Using this obsession, he creates some of the most complex riddles to put even a genius mind to its limit. Type of Intelligence: Science, Tactics/Strategy, Criminal Intelligence and Street Level.

Rip Hunter: Rip Hunter is known as the man that protects the time stream, thanks to his great intelligence he is not only able to monitor the time stream, but also was able to eliminate any possibility for someone to learn his real name and erased himself from history. This proves that his intelligence is far beyond that of a mere mortal, as he would have to have extensive knowledge of both the extents of his powers and knowing what needs to be done to remove himself from the past. Type of Intelligence: Science.

Trickster: Although his appearance may suggest otherwise, James Jesse is one of the most intelligent persons on Earth, probably more intelligent than Lex Luthor or Mister Terrific. This young inventor created some of his own personal gadgets like the flying boots and an invisibility field. Type of Intelligence: Science.

Jericho: Joseph Wilson is the son of none other than the villain, Deathstroke the Terminator. However instead of being like his father or like Grant Wilson (the original Ravager) he is a man calm in nature and forsakes all ideas of villainy instead accepting peace and expanding upon his great abilities in both painting and creating music. Type of Intelligence: Arts.

Hartley Rathaway (Pied Piper): Hartley Rathaway (Pied Piper) is obsessed with the music and thanks to this obsession and his great intellect he has been able to use the music to control the minds of animals and even humans. Type (s) of intelligence: Arts.

Doctor Fate: Many people have used the name of Doctor Fate in history, everyone who becomes Doctor Fate must have a great intellect and gains great knowledge of the hidden arts of the magic and illusion. She/he is also probably the single human that has had more knowledge of the magic.Type(s) of intelligence: Magic.

Zatanna : Zatanna is like Doctor Fate a human that has great knowledge of magic thanks to her great intelligence she has been able to get a great control making her one of the most powerful magicians the comics have ever known. Type (s) of intelligence: Magic.

Firestorm: Firestorm is not only one of the most powerful not cosmic beings of the universe, but he also has the mind of a scientific that lets him have a great knowledge about the elements. Type (s) of intelligence: Science.

Maxwell Lord: Maxwell lord is a human with a lot of money and a great intellect. Maxwell Lord would help to fund the Justice League International in order to make people realize how metahumans are dangerous for humanity. He also took control over Checkmate and the machine known as Brother Eye. Type (s) of intelligence: Science and Tactics/Strategy.

Winslow Schott (Toyman): Toyman is a human that is able to create all kinds of machined to use against humanity and Superman. One of the best inventors in the DC universe. Type (s) of intelligence: Science

Ralph Dibny (Elongated man): One of the greatest detectives on Earth. Ralph Dibny better known as the Elongated man has detective skills that rival even the ones of Batman.

Pieter Cross (Doctor Mid-Nite): Pieter Cross is the best doctor in the world, there are just a few cases that the skill of this great doctor can't cure. Type (s) of intelligence: Science

Harvey Bullock: Harvey Bullock is one very skilled policeman and detective. Although he is a former corrupt cop he is now one of the most respected policeman's in Gotham City and the entire country.

James Gordon: James Gordon is the commissioner of Gotham City's police department. The best policeman in the country and Batman's right hand, he has claimed that if he ever wanted/wants he would be able to discover Batman's true identity. Type (s) of intelligence: Street Level.

Jason Todd (Red Robin): Jason Todd was the second person to become Batman's sidekick, Robin. He was trained by the dark knight in detective skills, fighting skills, etc just like Dick Grayson before him. He would be later brutally killed by the Joker. When Jason Todd was revived he was launched to a Lazarus Pit which gave him "clarity", he apparently has gained great knowledge of tecnology because he has been able to create a bomb that not even Batman was able to stop. Leslie Thompkins: Leslie Thompkins was one of the most trusted allies of Batman that weren't vigilantes until the tragic day when she took Stephanie Brown's (Spoiler) life. She is a great doctor capable of saving almost any life....and also take it. Type (s) of intelligence: Science.

Dr. Kirk Langstrom (Man-Bat): Dr. Kirk Langstrom was the scientific that was able to create a serum to mutate a human being into a monster with the form of a bat. Type (s) of intelligence: Science.

Charles Victor Szasz (The Question): The Question was not only a great fighter but also a great detective. Using his great intellect he is able to resolve mysteries that just a few others are able to do. Type (s) of intelligence: Street Level.

Renee Montoya (The Question): The new Question and former member of the police department of Gotham City. This young ex-cop learned to resolve murder crimes in the most dangerous and full of crime city in the world. Type (s) of intelligence: Street Level.

Thomas Wayne: The father of Bruce Wayne (Batman) this man created Wayne enterprises making him the man with more money on Earth. He was also a great doctor. Type (s) of intelligence: Science.

Thomas Elliot (Hush): Thomas Elliot was the childhood best friend of Bruce Wayne (Batman). Thomas would decide to become a doctor just like Bruce Wayne's (Batman) father, having enough skill to cure mutes. Type (s) of intelligence: Science, Tactics/Strategy.

Victor Fries (Mister Freeze): Mr. Freeze was originally called Mr. Zero and was intended to be a gimmick character. After appearing in Batman: the Animated Series, Mr. Freeze soon became a serious rival for Batman.

Victor Fries was a talented scientist married to the love of his life, Nora Fries. When Nora is diagnosed with a rare terminal illness, Vitor's life begins to spiral downhill. In a desperate attempt to save her life, he begins work at a large corporate company run by Ferris Boyle. Fries, as he cannot find a way to cure Nora, finds a way to place her in cryo-statis. John Stewart (Green Lantern): John Stewart is one of the best architects in the world and also Hal Jordan's backup as a Green Lantern. He has a great intellect and imagination which lets him to design great buildings and also create great things with his power ring. Type (s) of intelligence: Science and Arts.

Jesse Chambers (Liberty Belle): Jesse Chambers inherited powers from both her parents: Liberty Belle, a super-strong heroine of yesteryear, and the late Jonny Chambers, aka Jonny Quick. Jonny, a super-speedster who drew energy from the Speed Force by mentally envisioning a specific geometrical construct nearly unimaginable in three-dimensional space, taught teenage Jesse his formula, hoping she would follow in his footsteps. Abra Kadabra: Abra Kadabra is from the 64th century Earth ruled by Chronarch. Abra rebelled against Chronarch and was deemed a criminal. He was banished to 20th Century Central City. With technology from the future, he crafted magical crimes that were always stopped by the Flash.

He was taken by a bounty hunter back to the 64th century where he was to be execute but Flash saved his life. Abra and Neron made a deal and he became a real sorcerer in the 21st century. Type (s) of intelligence: Science and Magic.

Leonard Snart (Captain Cold): In prison, Leonard Snart studied kinetic energy and thermal motion, realizing that absolute zero temperature would stop even the Flash. When finally got out on parole, he broke into a lab and stole blueprints and a cyclotron to power his new weapon: the cold gun. Type (s) of intelligence: Science

Mick Rory (Heat Wave): Mick Rory who was obsessed with fire invented a handgun-sized flamethrower and wore an asbestos suit and committed crimes under the identity of Heat Wave. Type (s) of intelligence: Science

Alex Luthor Jr: Alexander Luthor Junior is the son of Alexander Luthor, the only hero of the dead Earth-3, he was in big part responsible of the events of Infinite Crisis. Working in the shadows along with Superboy Prime he started to pull strings to manipulate everyone in order for the crisis to start and be able to bring the multiverse back. Type (s) of intelligence: Science and Tactics/Strategy.

Lyons (Battalion): Lyons was a great musician and also the general of the rebellion that was against the reign of Lord Chaos in the false future that Extant had created. Type (s) of intelligence: Science, Tactics/Strategy and arts.

Karen Beecher (Bumblebee): Super-smart Karen Beecher created a high-tech Bumblebee suit as part of a ruse to bolster her boyfriend Mal's reputation on the team. As a result, Bumblebee not only eventually joined the Teen Titans, she later married Mal as well. Type (s) of intelligence: Science

Danny Chase (Phantasm): Danny Chase is the son of two FBi agents and he was even one. Danny Chase is also extremely smart and possesses a photographic memory. Formerly the youngest member of the new teen titans, this young hero died as Phantasm in the titans hunt storyline. Type(S) of intelligence: Science, Tactics/Strategy and Street Level

Isaiah Crockett (Hotspot): Isaiah Crockett's qualities was that he is a genius, in fact he was so smart that when he was sixteen he was invited to take classes in a college, he tried to enter college, however in his first day his powers manifested for the first time changing his life forever. Eddie Bloomberg (Kid Devil): One night Eddie Bloomberg decided to sneak into the workshop of Daniel Cassidy (Blue devil). When he was there he created for himself an armor that would be his superhero's costume. The suit granted Eddie Bloomberg powers similar to the ones of Blue Devil. That was the night that Eddie Bloomberg would become the hero known as Kid Devil, sidekick of Blue Devil. Type(S) of intelligence: Science

General Immortus: General Immortus is a criminal whose lived for centuries with the use of a life-extending potion. He is one of the best strategists in the world. Type(S) of intelligence: Science and Strategy/Tactics

Steve Dayton (Mento): Steve Dayton, one of the world's richest men in DC Comics, builds a helmet that enhances his own latent mental abilities and begins adventuring as the hero Mento. Type(S) of intelligence: Science, Strategy/Tactics and Arts

Paul Booker (Major Disaster): Paul Booker a former villain and also former member of the Justice League of America designed weapons that would help him cause earth disasters. Type(S) of intelligence: Science

Felix Faust: Felix is a villainous sorcerer. He is around 5000 years old, and was one of the Justice League of America's first villains. Type(S) of intelligence: Magic

Oswald Cobbelpot (The Penguin):Intelligent, rich and sophisticated; the Penguin is a distinctive villain in Batman's gallery of foes. The penguin is also the principal leader of the mafia after the death of Black Mask. Type(S) of intelligence: Street Level and arts

T.O. Morrow: T.O. Morrow was the creator of the red tornado and also the teacher of Doctor Magnus who invented the Metal Men. Type(S) of intelligence: Science

Talia al Ghul: The daughter of the head of the demon, Ra's al Ghul. She is the true heir of Ra's al Ghul making her inherit the League of Assassins after her father's death. A master tactician this woman is almost as lethal as her father. Type(S) of intelligence: Strategy/Tactics

Human Enhanced Intelligence

Human characters whose intellects have been increased using machines, serums or in any other artificial way.

Examples:

Deathstroke: Slade Wilson was a government project and meant to be the "ultimate human" and so he was given a serum meant to increase all his natural skills to metahuman levels. At first it seemed the serum was having a harmful effect yet things turned around and Deathstroke developed not only superhuman strength and reflexes but a superior intelligence as well making him an admirable foe. Eventually this caused him to store massive amounts of information in his head that he can call back instantly making him a somewhat super-genius. Type of Intelligence: Science.

Animal Geniuses

Characters that are of animal original, however because of a superior evolution, experiments, etc have gained a great intellect.

Black Adam: Teth-Adam was Shazam's original champion and as such was gifted with many powers so that he could perform his heroic acts with ease whenever he called upon Shazam. However, his true personality was revealed when he possessed this power but Shazam could not take it away, so he has retained the Wisdom of Zehuti. This means that he is capable of knowing almost anything that he ever needs to know and will be counseled on the right course of action.
