So we have 17 slots to fill.
Not exactly. The New 52 hasn't met its quota of 52 titles for a long time. Its actual number went up and down a lot before working its way up to 48 before this latest wave of cancellations. (That is, if you don't count Multiversity, which I personally do not.) Then, the seventeenth titles that was cancelled was Injustice: Gods Among us, which is not a New 52 title. So what we actually have to do is 48 minus 16. Which is 32. Then 52 minus that 32. So there you have it. There are 20 slots to fill.
Which titles I want to see depends entirely on if DC is sticking with the New 52 after Convergence, or returning to pre-Flashpoint continuity.
Let's start with New 52 titles:
2nd Wonder Woman ongoing by Geoff Johns- Geoff Johns has had some luck introducing some new takes on classic Wonder Woman characters that are not part of the Greek mythology aspect in his Justice League run. I'd like to see him do so on a broader scale.
Freedom Fighters by Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti- They did minis for the Ray, Phantom Lady, and the Human Bomb and put the team together, then they faded into obscurity. Why is that?
Cyborg- He's the only founding Leaguer in the New 52 not to have a solo book so far.
Batman Beyond- After Futures End, what happens to Terry McGinnis?
Plastic Man by Geoff Johns- Patrick "Eel" O'Brien became Plastic Man in Forever Evil. Johns teased that he will be writing a character he reintroduced in Forever Evil
Shazam! by Geoff Johns- Let Johns continue his reimagination of this classic character in the New 52.
Global Guardians- This was teased in the JLI Annual.
And now some titles I really want to see in pre-Flashpoint continuity:
Red Robin and the Outsiders- teased in the first series of Batman Incorporated. (the pre-Flashpoint one)
Justice League Task Force- Exactly what the name suggests. They can do black ops missions, or proactively track meta-fugitives.
Flash Family- This was supposed to happen after Flash: Rebrith, but then the New 52 happened and this got axed. Supposed to feature Barry, Wally, Jay, Bart, Iris, Max, and Jesse.
Justice Society- the premier super-team continuing from the pre-Flashpoint volume with its extended membership
Young Justice- not quite the Teen Titans. featuring Robin (Damian Wayne), Impulse (Iris West), Maxine Baker, and more.
Titans: Renegades- continuing from the Villains for Hire series pre-Flashpoint. Roy Harper has taken back control of the veteran adult Titans from Deathstroke. He, Jericho, and some additional classic Titans will fight the good fight.
Vril Dox's L.E.G.I.O.N.- continuing from the not too old series R.E.B.E.L.S. The team has assembled, peace has been brokered throughout the galaxy. What happens next?
Justice League International- Spinning out of Justice League: Generation Lost, Booster Gold, Fire, Ice, Captain Atom, Blue Beelte Jaime Reyes, Rocket Red Gavril Ivanovich, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Power Girl strive to apprehend the resurrected Maxwell Lord, who has regained leadership of the organization Checkmate.
The Fifth World- When the New Gods of the Fourth World died, the Fifth World began. What is thie Fifth World, and who inhabits it?
Milestone Forever- giving classic MIlestone characters such as Icon, Hardware, and the Blood Syndicate their time in the spotlight, but as part of the wider DCU.
Firestorm- Spinning out of Brightest Day, Ray Palmer helps Ronnie Raymond and Jason Rusch solve the mysteries of the Firestorm Matrix.
Hawkman- Spinning out of Brightest Day. Carter Hall was ressurected after his death at the hands of the Black Lanterns. But with him was ressureceted not Kendra Sanders, but her Aunt Shiera, Carter's original soulmate. They were finally reunited, but soon after defeating Hath-Set, Shiera evaporated into a mist during the battle with Swamp Thing. Now Carter Hall fights against all odds to bring his lover back.
Aquaman- Spinning out of Brightest Day. This is a very different story from the New 52 version as it is set in the present day pre-Flashpoint DCU. Stars Aquaman, Mera, Jackson Hyde, and Lorena Marquez. Delves into the mysteries of Mera's past.
And here are some series that I would like to see whether the New 52 continues or pre-Flashpoint continuity is resored:
Booster Gold: Time Master by Keith Giffen and Dan Jurgens- I think that's pretty self-explanitory
Martian Manhunter by Jeff Lemire with art by Andrea Sorrentino- Doesn't J'onn deserve a solo series?
Legion of Superheroes by Jeff Lemire and Jimmy Palmiotti- Apparently both creators have expressed interest in writing the Legion. Why not co-write it. Neither one is a stranger to co-writing.
WildC.A.T.S.- They gave Stormwatch a try. Why not do the same for the WildC.A.T.S. But this time please stay trueer to the Wildstorm source material.
Faces of Evil- Why must the hero always be the one in the spotlight. This series will showcase some of DC's iconic villains.
Tales of the Corps- Why must each individual Lantern Corps each have their own ongoing? Well, they don't. The stories of the other six Corps could be told arc by arc in one series.
Green Lanterns of Sector 2814- Hal Jordan is Corps Leader. John Stewart is the Corps trainer. Kyle Rayner is a White Lantern. Guy Gardner is either still Red, Blue, etc. or is Honor Guard, Simon Baz is also busy somehow. That leaves two new Lanterns in charge of sector 2814. They have completed boot camp under Stewart and are no longer rookies, but full-fledged officers. However, they are still some of the freshest meat in the Corps. One is human, though not American. The other is an alien. They are now partners. They will take on both terran threats and those to the wider sector, and maybe be called to Oa if there is an emergency in the main GL title.
Aside from these, I'd be really happy if the speculation that they are going to do a weekly Green Lantern series is true.
