Wonder woman, catwoman, supergirl, batgirl, at a guess im saying they are the most well known female comic characters to the general public... why is MARVEL so far behind? and who does marvel have to compare?

I think Marvel is trying to get Ms. Marvel into the spotlight, with her series and making her leader of the Mighty Avengers. Storm and Emma are the only 2 others that spring to my mind for major players since they both at one point led some group of X-Men. But really, Marvel is way behind on successful female characters...

I was going to say click the Browse and you'll see that Marvel women are the ones most looked but then I noticed something else. Marvel characters in general are the ones most looked at. I know the page views got messed up but I think it was that way before too. I forget it every now and then but CV has a lot of Marvel fans.

Yeah there was pics for each girl by thier names. I went on for months to voteing. There was a link to the site on one of these threads. But I do not know/remember which one.

yeah i think your right... but its not quite universal as spiderman has spiderwoman but the general person wouldn't know she existed.

DC's just done a better job. A woman is in their Big 3, and is super well known. When it come to counterparts, when I think of Spidey, I think the female equivalent is MJ.

spiderwoman isnt in the tv shows, movies or even the comics much with spiderman. people would know mary jane and black cat. they're probably two of the most popular female marvel characters.

I'd say that while Marvel is steadily outselling DC, DC characters are more worldly recognized...

i admit i'm more a DC fan that Marvel, but to me both companies are doing well for themselves in the comic book business, these next few years will be really interesting as DC brings more of it's 'heavy hitters' into the movie mainstream and fully integrates Wildstorm into it's mainstream universe.

I'll be watching the international sales figures very closely, especially with some of the major storylines from DC coming up, i wouldn't be surprised if DC comes out ontop in the next few years...

I'm guessing for comic fans Marvel does well. But when it comes to non comic fans they probably know more of Dc women. What I mean is that Dc characters are like Legends to them. All of them know and heard of them. Yea, a lot of people knew marvel but growing up, I only knew a couple of marvel characters, but knew more dc characters. That probably because of the shows but I knew more of them then marvel. Like in the avenger/jla crossover when I saw the marvel character finally meet the dc characters, I looked at the dc guys and the first thing came in my head were, Legends. But this is just an opinion.

When I hear Marvel the first thing that pops into my head are ALL of the X-Men, including the women. Probably just because I grew up watching the cartoon...

All my favorite Wildstorm titles (Sleeper, Wildcats 3.0, Team Achilles, Authority, Stormwatch, Planetary, etc) were uniquely Wildstorm and happened in their own universe. Let's keep it that way.

It could be that Marvel camemuch later. I've also read that Marvel began spotlighting their female characters much later than DC. But Buckshot does bring up a point about the female Marvel characters having more page views than the ones from DC.
